Xintong came back a couple hours later with bags upon bags of groceries."Xintong you really didn"t need to buy so much!" Jun said in shock after seeing bags upon bags of groceries. With his shop eyes he knew that this must have cost at least 100 qi stones and some mundane money such as silver coins and such.
"Its fine. I wanted to do it. We didn"t even pay that much for your a.s.sistance last time. Furthermore cultivation resources are expensive this is trivial in comparison," Xintong explains.
"Alright then," Jun said giving in. "But I"m gonna cook for you."
"It"s fine I"ll cook. You just healed up. Get some more rest."
"If you"re like that then I can"t accept it. I"ll cook or else I won"t take these!"
Xintong reluctantly said, "fine but I"ll help. Thats my final condition."
"Eh okay!" Jun answers. He didn"t think it would be that easy to convince this stubborn girl to let him cook. Jun smiles and had a playful smile on his face when he said, "just to let you know I"m be the city"s best cook."
Xintong laughs heartily taking it as joke, "if your the best cook then I"m the best alchemist in the city."
… That t.i.tle also belongs to me…
Jun got up and smoothly avoided the diary.
"I"m being serious I once served in the army as a cook," Jun continues to brag. "Everyone said that I was even better than the head chef."
"Surrrreeee," She answers with a playful eye roll. "Okay Mr. best chef in the city impress me."
"I"ll get started now!" Jun said as he playfully moves the knives around his hand. Jun looks over all the ingredients and found that there were milk, b.u.t.ter, many different spices, wild cow steak, wild chicken meat, ginger, ginseng, mala, eggs, and some other types of snacks and vegetables. There were also some different types of fishes, and clams.
Jun used his knife skills to swiftly cut into the wild cow steak that was as big as a live chicken. His eyes detecting where the fat was as his knife dove in to cut two portion that has a nice balance of fat and meat. Then he began rubbing salt and pepper onto the meats. Then in the frying pan he began applying the heat slowly into the wild cow steaks. Jun also then began taking out the meat periodically and applying the arroser technique. The arroser technique is a french technique that simple means to douse. Jun used a spoon to spread the fat that he melted off of the steak to be spread back on.
His other hand fired up a grill he had nearby. Usually he would use charcoal but since this place is new and Xintong didn"t buy charcoal he made due with what he had. As the grill began heating up Jun just finish dowsing the steak. A thick sweet aroma spread throughout the apartment as Xintong"s stomach growled and a tiny drool was at the corner of her mouth.
Once the grill was hot enough Jun transferred the two steak onto the grill and was flipping it back and forth. He also made sure the skin of the steak was sealed so no juice would leak out. Then Jun took two bowl like objects and covered it on top of the steak.
"Huh? Why you do that?" Xintong asks.
"This is to cook the steak. It is easier for it to absorb heat this way. The heat goes up gets block by the bowl and comes back down into the meat."
Then Jun began making the sauce. Jun digs into the bag and brought out all the spices and fruits he could find. Then he took the meat and began making sauce with it. In one saw he began combining berries, peppers and a couple spices together. Then added some creme, and used water to dowse it down. Afterwards he did a quick heat with it.
As for the meat he used the wild cow fat, and meat. Using a boiling technique with some other spices to make it. Afterwards a glistening black saw came out of the pot.
Jun"s nose twitched and he immediately used his qi to remove the bowls and take out wild cow and place it on the plate. Then used some herbs as decoration. Jun took out another really sharp knife and applied qi on it. He used the star freezing flame"s cold aspect and did a quick slice into the meat making it 4 by 4.
Then he spread it into 8 piece one side and another 8 piece and on another side. Afterwards he pours the two sauces onto each side. One side contains the berry sauce and the other the meat sauce.
"Here you go!" Jun said brightly as he placed the dish on the table. "Try it."
"Lets try it!" Xintong said eagerly as she already had her fork ready to dig in.
She"s kinda cute when she"s like this Jun thought.
"Oh my G.o.d! This is so juicy!" Xintong shouted. She felt like she was in the wild sitting on a stone petting a wild cow. What the heck is this imagery? She then tried the other steak that contained the cow sauce. Boom! A whole new imagery invaded her mind.
She felt she was sitting on a wild cow as it travels through the forest while she was being fed berries and other spices.
"How did you learn to cook like this?" Xintong asks.
"Mhmm I"m used to living alone so sometimes I get bored and experiment." Jun answered but was secretly thinking whats so special about cooking when making pills is 100 times harder. The amount of concentration and knowledge of ingredients needed is like reading an encyclopedia book. Plus he learned cooking to try and put his family together during dinner time but it didn"t work.
"Oh, this is absolutely delicious! If you open a restaurant you definitely strike it rich!" Xintong complimented. "Oh why do these weird imageries keep entering my head."
"…" Jun was just as confused and began to bs it. "I heard that when a dish is good enough it will trigger neuron reaction and produced images."
Xintong accepted the explanation and continue eating. "Eh I"m done. Anymore?"
"I"ll go cook then."
Jun went back to the kitchen when he didn"t even finish half of his dish.
Xintong sat in her chair admiring Jun. How is such a capable person so poor? That dish was really good. I wonder if I should ask him to come to my place and cook.
"Oh Lin are you thinking about entering Ziren College? The exam is like in a week," Xintong suddenly said.
"Ziren college? I don"t think I will make it. The minimum requirement is Master realm. I don"t think I would make it in time with my cultivation."
"Maybe you can get through Pill forging. Your skill in it was really good even when you were a.s.sisting me. I think with some practice you would definitely make it."
"Probable not hahaha," Jun said. "But I"ll try through combat."
"Everyone is at least master realm and your cultivation is not even at nascent yet. Maybe I can find another way for you to get in," Xintong said.
"Don"t worry too much about it."
"I just thought it would be nice if the WL Pillshop group can all stay together."
"I"m included?"
"Of course!"
"Mhmm. My grandpa once taught me that if I want something strong enough I should close my eyes and wish for it for 10 seconds." Jun said carelessly.
"Mhmm okay if Lin said so I"ll give it a try!"
This girl is surprisingly pretty obedient Jun thought.
Xintong closes her eyes and began making her wish.
"I wish that we can all work hard and pa.s.s the Ziren College examination and be together."
"If you wish it like that then it will definitely come true then!" Jun a.s.sured her.
For the rest of the day Jun cooked and just chatted with her about all sorts of subjects and gave her some pointers in Alchemy without her noticing.
By the time night came around Xintong left to go home and prepare for the examination. Jun still has a week before the examination start. If it was with his original ident.i.ty he could easily get accepted into the school but with this new ident.i.ty it has become a challenge.
Pill Dao, Martial Dao, and Formation Dao. This year they are accepting one thousand martial Dao students, and five hundred each of Pill Dao and Formation Dao student. Basically two thousand is accepted out of more than a hundred thousand applications.
With his Jun ident.i.ty he could easily just pa.s.s the Pill Dao examination with a lift of his pinky.
Except with his Lin ident.i.ty pa.s.sing the examination would make it suspicious to the WL Pillshop group. The reason being what are the chances that two people that look alike would both be so talented in Pill Dao. Not only that but the way of refinement would be similar too making his ident.i.ty more well known.
As for Formation Dao Jun has some knowledge of it and can use it pretty decently but compared with the other geniuses its like a middle schooler challenging a high school senior in a variety of high level subjects.
I wonder if those people can even pa.s.s, Jun sighs. This is a compet.i.tion the elites of the Ba Sing Se region. Furthermore Ziren College is one of the top 10 college in these three regions. It might not be the top one but if is still number 7 out of the 500 that exists. Not only that but the population of these 3 regions combine is around 4 billion. This means that even if only 5 percent of the population goes college it is still a compet.i.tion of 400,000 a college. The top ten college would only take the students that are geniuses among geniuses.
In total the top ten colleges take about 100,000 out of 200,000,000. Out of the 100,000 that the schools accepts only one thousand of them would be core students with only 100 of them will be personal students. So it essence sometimes it might be better for a mediocre genius to go to a lower level college.
Sigh! I don"t think they will even pa.s.s. Jun thought. In terms of skill the only one that can pa.s.s is probable that Ziyu guy but unless he"s already in the college then he is too old to meet the school requirement of under 20. As for Hui, Mei, and San Ti their skills are above average but definitely not top 100,000 out of 200,000,000. If I was to rank them then it be somewhere between 150,000 to 250,000.
As for Xintong her alchemy skills are definitely in the top 0.0005 percent of the alchemy applications.
I sigh even with this body it will be hard to pa.s.s in the marital dao tests. I should get my qi to the nascent realm before the test. Otherwise even with this body it will be hard to pa.s.s.
