Chapter 383: Weird Dark Energy
“Attack! Hold on!” Dan Hen shouted beneath the defense platform. The submachine gun he was holding continued to fire shots at the zombie horde around 30 to 40 meters in front of them, which were starting to surround them.
“Ta, ta, ta…”
“Boom!”
Ion Flame and Alarm, as well as one of the other Fire Manipulator; the three long-range professions’ energy converters continued to cause flashes of light as skills were released.
Fireball, Earth Spike, Fire Wall, Sea of Fire…
Multiple single target or crowd damage energy skills were thrown at the zombie horde, turning the area in front of the horde into a sea of fire, which delayed their advance.
This was especially true for the Earth Manipulator’s Petrifaction Zone. It caused the earth energy in an area in front of the group to sink, making it look like the zombie horde had walked into a swamp or quicksand, and in an instant, they were significantly slowed down.
However, these attacks could only slow down or prevent the zombies that were walking on the ground from advancing.
To the highly mobile and quick Foragers that could also easily crawl vertically on building walls, there wasn’t much effect.
Roar!
A Level 50 Forager that was moving the fastest, with his entire body of exposed red muscles, had charged into the sea of fire.
“Careful! It’s a Forager!” Steel Fortress shouted as he tried to advance in order to try to stop that Forager, holding the 70% damaged alloy s.h.i.+eld.
However, the Forager’s agility was far beyond that of a Heavy Armor Warrior. Its four limbs exerted force and pushed itself onto the wall of a building on the side, pus.h.i.+ng its claws against the wall, and within moments, its body was headed towards a spot on the defense platform.
It was headed towards the three NPCs that did not have any self-defense capability, who were, at that moment, walking up the human stairs created by the s.h.i.+elds of the Heavy Armor Warriors.
“Tzzt, tzzt, tzzt…”
A low magnetic and mechanical sound came from above everyone. Bullets emanating light blue glow suddenly appeared one after another in the dark environment.
“Pu!”
The first light blue machine gun bullet struck the Forager’s head. A thumb-sized blood cavity suddenly appeared on the exposed the Forager’s weak brain structure.
“Pu!”
The second shot increased the size of the hole in its brain to two thumb-sized. In addition, the second bullet continued to spin at high speed and exited its brain from the back, leaving a trail of dark red fresh blood in its wake.
“Pu, pu, pu…”
Then came the third, fourth, and then the fifth rounds of bullets.
The Forager’s head was completely blown to bits by 50 rounds of energy bullets. Then, it’s neck, shoulders, and exposed muscle structure was blown apart.
Although the series of events took a long time to describe, it actually ended in a matter of a few tenths of a second. The Level 50 Elite Grade infected was still in mid-air before the remaining half body fell beside Security Door.
“F*ck, energy bullets machine gun?” Security Door asked with a surprised expression as he was using his s.h.i.+eld to create a human ladder.
The six-barreled railgun on the defense platform did not use fire powder; instead, it used energy bullets. Since energy bullets had a different structure and they did not travel as fast as fire-powered ammunition, their attacks and destructive strength were much more incredible.
The six-barreled railgun with barrels over two meters long, categorized as heavy weaponry by the system, was something that could cause significant damage to the sh.e.l.ls of the Steel Beetle Boss. After switching to the Energy Bullet, when used against zombies and Foragers that did not have any tough defense, it was most certainly unstoppable.
“Tzzt, tzzt, tzzt…”
Light blue energy bullets from the railgun continued to fizz across the battlefield, amidst the sound of electromagnetic waves. The growling zombies had reached a distance one after the other, which was only 30 meters from the group, were hit by over 50 bullets per second on their bodies. Even if the bullets missed their heads and only hit their legs or waist, special effects such as broken legs and backs also appeared. Damage special effects like these were similar to the real effects of a real high caliber sniper rifle bullet hitting a person.
Two Elite Grade Foragers that had jumped on vehicles felt the dangers and quickly moved and tried to hide behind the zombie horde.
However, Feng Luo’s main targets were highly agile creatures that posed the greatest threat, so the six-barreled railgun kept following them as it spun. The zombies that were blocking in front of them were crushed to pieces, and the energy bullets that did not stop continued their course and killed the two Foragers.
Under the six-barreled railgun’s barrage, the scene was a one-sided ma.s.sacre.

[You’ve killed…]
A series of system messages started to flash across the screen.
“F*ck. What crazy firepower!” Security Door exclaimed in admiration. Since they were in a party, the others also received the messages in their logs.
“Hurry! Now that the zombie horde is delayed let’s all move!” Dan Hen shouted loudly, completely focused on commanding and scouting, continuing to shoot and retreat to the platform.
Although the six-barreled railgun was incredibly powerful, it was still quite impossible for it to cover the entire street area in a short amount of time. And the number of zombies was too large, continuing to advance without hesitation, as their simple minds knew no fear.
As such, getting to the platform was their number one task.
…
As the other players were rus.h.i.+ng towards the platform, Feng Luo, who was operating the six-barreled railgun on the platform, suddenly felt a strange change in his body. Due to the infection of the Evolution Virus, his entire head was getting heavier and heavier, his body getting hotter and hotter, and his breath became faster.
For some weird reason he suddenly felt an adrenaline rush in his body. At the same time, he could feel a stream of chilly energy flowing over his body.
Dizzy and excited, hot and cold… These are supposed to be words with opposite meanings; however, at that moment, Feng Luo was having all of those contrasting sensations.
The sensation that Feng Luo felt was quite real. It was so real that he could barely tell the difference between game and reality. He could not tell if it was an artificial sensation that the game system created by stimulating his nervous system, or if it was his real body out in the real world being infected by some virus in the real world.
The perception and sensation simulation in War was said to simulate real sensations 100%, under the condition that all settings were turned on. This also made it very difficult for players to differentiate between the real world and the virtual world.
Subconsciously, Feng Luo understood that it was a system-generated feeling. However, the system’s settings were really quite a pain in the a.s.s. Feeling both hot and cold was not something he wanted to feel when playing a game. It was more like he was suffering.
“Hurry! Let’s pick up the pace!” Feng Luo shouted to the players crawling to the platform, continuing to shoot while enduring the pain. The three NPCs had already made it on the platform.
Under the sound cover of the electromagnetic railgun’s firing, Feng Luo did not notice that his voice was getting hoa.r.s.e. Due to the mutated virus infection, a thin veil of dark energy that seemed to be pulsing with life started to appear within his bloodshot eyes.
It was not only his eyes, but on his face and neck, as well as his body hidden under his combat uniform. After the Evolution Virus infection, which caused his body temperature to rise very rapidly, parts of his body had become red from the rising temperature, and above these reddened parts was dark energy.
The newly appeared and weird dark energy did not seem to mix well with the mutated Intermediate Evolution Virus. The parts that the dark energy covered had weaker signs of the virus infection. The dark energy even began to spread to other parts in an attempt to expel the T-virus infecting the body.
However, the T-virus was also quite resilient and strong, the reddened and boiling skin that signified their existence also seemed to be expanding, seemingly trying to “invade” the territories of the dark energy.
One red and the other black. It seemed like they were trying to annex territories on Feng Luo’s body.
Apart from that, in Feng Luo’s system logs, that he did not have the energy nor time to look at, several messages appeared within a short few seconds.
Among them was the number that showed how much time before the infection was complete. However, the number was quickly reducing.
[One hour 30 minutes… 55 minutes… 32 minutes… 19 minutes]
Initially, the infection should have been completed in two hours. Now, the time left before the infection was complete was less than 20 minutes, and continuing to go down.
In a situation like this, there was no way Feng Luo would have enough time to get to Storm City and have Lin take care of the virus infection inside his body.
However, at the same time, another system notification was also quickly changing. The only difference was that this number was continuing to increase.
[Force Guidance Rate: 55%… 60%… 74%… 82%]
