Chapter 607: Awaken From Coma (1)
Meanwhile, the former master of the family, who was on the other end of the line, had finally realized something was wrong. He asked Zhao Youlin back, “What are you requesting this for?”
“Grandpa, leave this question alone for now. Tell me, what’s Sun Fengzi’s blood type?”
The former master fell silent for a brief moment before he said quietly, “I’m not very clear about her blood type. However, I used to see it once when she gave birth to Zhao Yifei. If I’m not mistaken, she shares the same blood type as Shunchang. But, I’m not very sure of her exact blood type because it’s been a long time.”
“A type, huh?” Zhao Youlin mumbled to herself. The next moment, she schooled her face and asked in a low voice, “Could you please help me to check Sun Fengzi’s blood type?”
“Give me a good reason.”
Zhao Youlin sucked in a deep breath before she blurted out, “Zhao Yifei met with a car accident today and is receiving emergency treatment inside the hospital. He needs a blood transfusion. Sun Fengzi personally admitted that… Yifei’s blood type is AB.”
The person on the other end of the line fell silent once more. It took the former master some time before Zhao Youlin heard his solemn voice, “I’ll let you know the results once I finish the investigation.”
“Okay.”
The former master hung up. Zhao Youlin pondered for some time on the spot before she kept her cell phone and walked toward An Qi and An Yue’s place.
By the time Zhao Youlin returned to them, An Yue had already finished her maternity check-up. The siblings were sitting on a bench outside the ward, waiting for Zhao Youlin’s return.
They stood up when they saw Zhao Youlin coming back to them and asked with concern, “Youlin, what’s going on?”
“Nothing. I thought I saw a familiar face from the victims of the car accident, so I went over to take a look. By the time I reached there, I didn’t see anyone there. Perhaps I have seen wrongly.”
“Oh, that’s how it is.” The siblings did not suspect her.
Zhao Youlin then quickly switched the topic and brushed off the matter.
“Yue Yue, you’ve finished the check-up. How’s everything?”
“Good.” An Yue touched her baby b.u.mp that was still not obvious yet. When she was inside the ward, the equipment showed her the tiny thing inside her belly. If she did not pay attention to the little blob, she would not have noticed it. That was her first time to realize that she was truly pregnant, a child that belongs to Han Yichen and her!
“The last time I came for a check-up, it was still developing like a fava bean. Now, it’s already the size of a fist. It’s growing very fast. The doctor told me that the baby is growing well. But, I feel like I’m not able to keep up with the nutrition myself, and I need to take some supplements so that the baby has sufficient nutrients. The good thing is, I no longer feel like throwing up whenever I see oily and greasy food. Therefore, I could drink some of the tonic soup that Yarong had the kitchen lady make specially for me. This is not a particularly serious matter.”
Zhao Youlin smiled. She took An Yue’s hand into hers and said, “Indeed, you’re a bit too skinny compared to an average pregnant woman. You have to eat more. Otherwise, the baby inside your belly would lack nutrients and grow slower. You have also seen for yourself on that day. Despite the fact that Xiao He is a smaller-sized person, she is eating hard now for the sake of her baby as she’s afraid she couldn’t keep up with the nutrition.”
“Okay.”
When Zhao Youlin was saying this, she looked like she remembered something. She smiled and asked, “Did you take a photo of the baby during the check-up just now?”
“Yes, I did!” An Yue was very excited the moment she recalled snapping a picture just now. Her face turned red slightly as she said, “An Qi is holding it. I want to let Chen have a look when I go home.”
“You should. Our parents and Yichen would be very happy when they see it.” As Zhao Youlin was saying this, she cast a glance at the ward before she smiled faintly and said, “Alright. If there’s nothing else, we shall go home now. The air inside the hospital is not good and the smell is stale. It’s not good for the body if we stay long here.”
“Okay.”
Right after Zhao Youlin sent An Yue and An Qi home, she immediately received a call from the former master of the family.
“Youlin, I’ve had someone to conduct the investigation… Sun Fengzi and Shunchang’s blood type is A.”
Zhao Youlin drew in a deep breath when her speculation had been confirmed. She then said in a low voice, “Got it, Grandpa. I’ll investigate this matter. Before this, it’s best not to make a fuss about this. After all, Third Uncle, the Zhao family, as well as Sun Fengzi’s maternal family…”
Before Zhao Youlin finished speaking, the former master had already understood what she meant. He answered in a deep voice, “Got it. Go ahead with your investigation, I’ll be your back-up.”
“Thank you, Grandpa. I’ll hang up first.”
Zhao Youlin hung up and got into her car. She clenched the steering wheel and rapped her index finger on the edge of the steering wheel.
After some time, she looked like she had made up her mind before she gave another call.
“Greetings. We are from the human resource department of the Ye Group. May I know who is on the phone?”
“Hi, I’m Zhao Youlin, General manager of Zhao Enterprise. I am looking for your president. Could you please pa.s.s the line to him?”
“Alright. Please wait for a moment.”
Zhao Youlin did not have to wait for long. After a few seconds, there came Ye Yan’s voice, “General manager Zhao, what makes you call me today? You’ve actually taken the initiative by giving me a call. What’s the matter?”
Zhao Youlin did not want to continue a verbal battle with him. She went straight to the main point. “Zhao Yifei met with a car accident today. He’s receiving emergency treatment in your hospital now.”
Ye Yan received Zhao Youlin’s solemn tone from her words. He took back his humor and asked, “So?”
“Since you own the hospital, I suppose it’s not difficult to take the patient’s blood sample, right?”
“What you mean is… you want me to help you to take Zhao Yifei’s blood sample?”
“Correct.”
The person on the other end fell silent for some time. No one knew if he was pondering over the feasibility of this action, or wondering the reason Zhao Youlin wanted to do so.
After some time, Ye Yan added, “May I know what your intention is for taking his blood sample?”
Zhao Youlin did not say anything. She did not respond to him after ten seconds. Ye Yan immediately understood. He heaved a sigh and said, “Fine, I won’t ask anymore. Given that you’ve a.s.sisted Xiao Qi and myself so many times before this, I’ll have someone to help you take his blood sample.”
“Thank you. I’ll treat you to a meal next time.”
Ye Yan faked a cough. “No need. I don’t want your husband to misunderstand us. Besides, I’m already a family man, so I need to keep myself a distance from you.”
Zhao Youlin was rendered speechless.
Zhao Youlin hung up and breathed out stale air. She looked up at the sky solemnly outside her car. She wondered if she had been too sensitive on the issue. Nevertheless, she hoped that her speculation could be confirmed.
Zhao Yifei had met with a car accident within half a month since he returned to Zhao Enterprise as chief of the human resource department. As such, his accident had unexpectedly stirred up inside the company.
The directors, who had used various methods to bring Zhao Yifei back to the company to be their s.h.i.+eld and speak up for them, were initially very shocked and panicked when they first learned of it. Later, they began to look as if they had finally found a sharp weapon to taint Zhao Youlin’s image. As a result, be it intentionally or unintentionally, they began to spread the word that the reason Zhao Yifei was involved in a car accident because Zhao Youlin had decided to strike him first in order to eliminate his ability to counterattack as she was concerned that he would threaten her position after he returned to the company.
Originally, this was only gossip. However, once the gossip spread and became the talk of the town, it could easily turn into a reality in people’s minds.
A majority of the staff inside the company had trusted that Zhao Youlin would not possibly commit such acts. However, when the gossip spread, their faith began to shake..
