Chapter 97:
Shi Luo leaned on the sofa. He looked down at the WeChat Yu Sui sent him for a full three minutes.
Everyone waiting for dinner on the first floor were keeping to themselves. No one except Yu Sui would be paying attention to Shi Luo. Shi Luo got up and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows next to the main door of the base on the first floor. He turned his back to Yu Sui and made sure that Yu Sui couldn’t see his expression clearly. Then, he sent Yu Sui a reply.
[Evil]: [Captain, you’re going to lay waste to my big-heartedness I’ve spent so much to cultivate for so many years. ]
Shi Luo pressed the send b.u.t.ton. He pursed his lips, and looked out at the small garden outside the base window.
Shi Luo wasn’t flirting. He was telling the truth.
While he was no match against such seasoned players as Yu Sui, Chen Huo and Puppy, when the three of them have yet to return to China, compared horizontally against his peers, Shi Luo’s psychological quality was the strongest in the local compet.i.tive region.
After a few seasons, the industry as a whole has appraised him as being a mature youngster, unfazed by honor or disgrace, not easily disturbed by the outside world. He was considered a rare big-hearted player among the teenage players.
Half of it was innate, half was cultivated. He’d had many tumbles and beatings. Naturally, he was now able to calmly face various situations.
But ever since Yu Sui returned to China, especially after the two of them got together, Shi Luo felt that he was regressing more and more.
He was easy to get angry, easy to worry, easy to overthink things, easy to be moved by emotions, easy to feel distressed for Yu Sui, easy to be swayed by considerations of gains and losses.
He was simply worn down to this bit by bit by Yu Sui’s gentleness.
Seeing what Yu Sui sent him, “What others have, you can have too. I can give it to you.”, Iron-boned, invulnerable Shi Luo actually had a moment when he felt as though he couldn’t bear it.
Slag man Yu has obviously never been in a relationship before, but he could always land such precise strikes, jabbing at the softest places in Shi Luo’s heart.
What Shi Luo couldn’t bear the most was this kind of gentleness.
Shi Luo’s phone vibrated again.
[Whisper]: [Lay to waste? ]
[Whisper]: [We’re all a professional players. What Rod can give to his girlfriend, I can give to my boyfriend? Isn’t that just normal? ]
Shi Luo took a deep breath. Inwardly, he said, ‘How can we compare to ROD?’
[Whisper]: [As long as you are willing, I can give more. ]
When Shi Luo looked at the phone, his heart suddenly jumped. That sour choked feeling in his heart was swept clean away.
Yu Sui hadn’t hinted at anything yet, but for some reason, it evoked some dirty thoughts in Shi Luo’s mind. Sure enough, before he could reply, Yu Sui sent another message:
[Whisper]: [Shi Shen, let’s talk about it. If he’s allowed to propose if he wins the finals, If I win the finals, can I get something else? ]
Shi Luo moved his fingertips. After a short while, he typed. [What do you want? ]
Yu Sui responded very happily.
[Whisper]: [You. ]
Shi Luo lowered his eyes, the corners of his lips ticked up bit by bit and he smiled uncomfortably.
[Whisper]: [Shi Shen, do you need me to speak more bluntly and more vulgar? ]
Shi Luo gulped and he replied quickly, [No need! I understand. ]
Shi Luo turned around and took a look.
The division’s number one medic sat on the sofa, a natural expression on his face. People who didn’t know the inside story, would never have expected that he was sending out an obscene invitation to his teammate.
[Whisper]: [So, can I? ]
Shi Luo grinned his teeth. Did he really have to ask this kind of thing?
There were no training a.s.signments in the few days after the finals. If they really do win, he could just…just do it directly when the time was right! Why did he have to go asking in advance?!
Shi Luo was too embarra.s.sed to reply but Yu Sui was in high spirits as he kept sending messages.
[Whisper]: [… I asked you a question, what are you doing peeking at Zhou Huo? Do we have to ask for the manager’s approval for this kind of thing? ]
[Whisper]: [Don’t worry, if we really win the match, I will definitely ask Manager Zhou for a holiday. ]
[Whisper]: [The time period can be arranged properly, and it won’t cause any delay to your training. ]
[Whisper]: [Shi Shen? ]
Shi Luo coughed. When he was hesitating what to say so as to make it appear like he wasn’t fl.u.s.tered or embarra.s.sed, Yu Sent sent off two more messages.
[Whisper]: [Did I not make it clear? ]
[Whisper]: [The explicit meaning is… Shi Shen, I am asking you, can I * you? ]
Shi Luo’s face flushed.
“Time to eat.” Zhou Huo went to the kitchen to help serve the food. He called out to everyone as he set the food. He glanced at Shi Luo and frowned, “What’s wrong with your face? Don’t tell me you haven’t recovered from your cold?”
Shi Luo quickly rubbed his face. He lowered his head and mumbled, “No, I got better a long time ago already.”
The culprit to all this sat next to Shi Luo. He raised his hand and pressed it to Shi Luo’s forehead, “He isn’t burning up.”
“That’s good.” Zhou Huo said anxiously. “You look so distracted. You should pay more attention. Now is the most important time. Don’t let the ball drop. If you need to drink hot water, drink hot water. If you need to wear thermal underwear, then wear thermal underwear.”
Shi Luo accepted the rice bowl. He threw a glance to his side and gritted his teeth as he looked at Yu Sui who was being all calm and composed. “…I know.”
Disturbed by Yu Sui’s message, Shi Luo had no idea what he’d eaten.
They’ve been together quite some time now. All day, if they weren’t training, they were in a compet.i.tion match. There wasn’t any place, time or energy for them to do more. Suddenly talking about this, a certain valve in Shi Luo’s brain was suddenly opened. While eating, he couldn’t help creating half-obscene thoughts.
After a grueling dinner, Shi Luo was the first to go to the training room to start training.
In order to pretend to be serious and completely unfazed, Shi Luo was very dedicated as he opened a live broadcast and played solo for awhile.
But by coincidence, he met Yu Sui during his second game for the night and they were even placed on the same team.
Shi Luo was worried that Yu Sui would say something that he shouldn’t. After Shi Luo entered the map, he raced against everyone else to send “I’m live.” seven or eight times on the team chat.
Their other two teammates were simply baffled. Everyone was a high-scoring player. Who hasn’t done a live broadcast? What’s there to show off?
When Yu Sui saw Shi Luo’s warning in the team chat, he didn’t type any more. He played a normal round with Shi Luo, bringing their teammates to crush their opponents without any delay. However, at the end of the game, while they were waiting to be automatically ejected from the map, Yu Sui suddenly sent Shi Luo an in-game friend message:
[Free-Whisper]: [Shi Shen, you haven’t replied to me yet. Okay or not okay? ]
Shi Luo glanced at the message and his fingers on the keyboard shook as if they’d been burned.
Shi Luo didn’t reply to Yu Sui and as a result, a group of pure-minded fans in his live broadcast room even used the live chat to tell him that Yu Sui had sent him a message.
Shi Luo gritted his teeth and glanced sideways around his monitor. Yu Sui wasn’t waiting for a reply. He was already in a new game.
In his live broadcast chat, his cute little fans were still kindly reminding him to reply. They were also curious what Yu Sui was asking was okay or not okay. Shi Luo took a deep breath. He wished he could just come right out and tell them everything. Your Yu Shen is fine. He’s just being outright shameless.
As well as that Whisper, that one hundred thousand an hour training partner, was soon going to belong to him.
Shi Luo’s heart was teased by Yu Sui until it was all confused. And so he didn’t immediately queue up for the next game. He picked up his phone and replied to Yu Sui.
[Evil]: [OK. ]
Yu Sui’s new game had started. Yu Sui glanced at his phone and saw that Shi Luo had sent a message. While operating with one hand, he picked up the phone, unlocked it and took a look. He played the game and read Shi Luo’s reply. Afterwards, Yu Sui smiled faintly, put down the phone and continued with his game.
Shi Luo cleared his throat and then started his next game.
But for the whole night after, Shi Luo’s heartbeat would speed up so long as he wasn’t in the game, his mind whirling with uncontrollable thoughts.
First, he thought of their affections during normal days, then he thought of Yu Sui’s good figure, and then he thought of some un-PG scenes. Once his thoughts were racing farther and farther away like a sports car until it was simply filled with enchanting thoughts, Shi Luo suddenly felt a bit unsatisfied. He has a feeling that Yu Sui was just messing with his mind right before the match. He was increasing the pressure on him for absolutely no reason!
What was he thinking demanding a reward for winning the match?
What if they lose?
Then everything’s just called off?
This car’s already on the speedway. You think it’s that simple to turn this car around?
Why do we need to win?
What if we lose to NSN?
Does Yu Sui want the reward and is pressuring Shi Luo himself not to make any mistakes in the finals? Is he asking him to f*cking carry of this win in the finals?
He’ll just amplify his courage first and think about it later. In the end, just what did this necessarily have to do with the compet.i.tion?
It was originally a private matter between the two of them. Why should they add such a proposition?
In the game, Shi Luo dropped a bullet. He was inexplicably a bit exasperated.
After the game ended that day, Shi Luo broke the rule the two of them had set before. After everyone had fallen asleep, he went and silently sneaked into Yu Sui’s room.
When Yu Sui saw Shi Luo, he smiled. He automatically took a pillow out and put it in place. He put his arms around Shi Luo and they lay together under the quilt.
“Miss me?” Yu Sui let Shi Luo sleep on the side of the bed. He himself turned off the lamp and went to bed. Yu Sui closed his eyes and put his arms around Shi Luo to make sure that he was covered by the quilt. He said vaguely in Shi Luo’s ear, “I thought you were already sleeping in your room…Aren’t you sleepy? You didn’t take a break all night. You didn’t take even a sip of water and you played for the longest time.”
Shi Luo didn’t have any anger on his face. After a pause, he replied in a dull, hard voice, “Given this situation, do I still dare slack off?”
Yu Sui didn’t hear the implied meaning in Shi Luo’s words. He raised his eyes and said quietly, “Don’t be nervous. Once you play in the World Championships once, you’ll already have international compet.i.tion experience. That’s actually the case.”
In the dark, Shi Luo bit Yu Sui’s cuff with a bitter expression on his face and he found himself a more comfortable position. After Yu Sui was already sound asleep, he said, bearing a grudge, “The nature of this has changed. This is no longer a simple matter of the World Championships…”
