I felt pretty sure the tree had helped the effectiveness of the healing with its aura of light elements, so I stayed there as I counted to 50, watching the mana refill bit by bit.

This time I cast it only at the forehead, where the energies split, with another full 50.

Then I checked again, and the 2nd stream had shrunk by 2/3"s. So I counted, focused in, and cast another 50 mana Healing Light.

Finally the energies no longer split, but the flesh around where they had once collided was still a discolored shade of blue compared to the rest in the magic vision.

Once again I saved up 50, and cast it for a third time in a row.

It looked alright now, having spent quite some time on it, and I picked her up again and continued carrying her.

After awhile I heard some noises from behind, and turning my head, I saw a green humanoid on the back of a wolf.

It had a long pointed nose and chin, with sharp ears extending up and pressed against its own head, and yellow slitted eyes. It help a makeshift wooden spear in its hand, and stood about to my gut.

The goblin popped to its feet while setting its center of gravity, riding the charging wolf like a skateboard as it readied it"s spear.

I felt a bit speechless at how brazenly it charged, and how such a crazy b.a.s.t.a.r.d was somehow riding a wolf whilst standing!

"FoxFire!"

With a small woosh, 2 small orange-red fireb.a.l.l.s appeared and flew out, with one slamming into the goblin as it gave a "Hrrerk?!" before it detonated, blowing flesh around as it caved through his ribs, throwing him off the wolf and burning most of his organs away in an instant.

The second slammed into the ground before the wolf, taking one of its front paws as the force of the explosion threw the wolf up and off to my left.

I slowed to a stop, and walked back over to the goblin. I knew how much DP these guys gave, but could I carry both him and the neko?

I experimentally grabbed it by the head and easily held it with a single hand, at a bit of a distance, while slinging the neko over my shoulder. It out a small bit of strain, but was still strangely bearable.

"Is that why?" I thought as I looked at my strength stat. "I guess since 10 is the human average and 20 is the maximum theoretical limit, I"m a 1/5 of the way to the max from the average? I"m probably pretty strong huh."

I looked over at the bleeding wolf, and as I walked over it growled at me.

Some instinct in me suddenly let loose a low growl of my own, as light flashed in my red-brown eyes(same color as my hair and fur), briefly turning them gold.

The wolf immediately seemed to turn tame, lowering its head with a whine and it almost cradled its right front paw"s stump.

I felt a small bit of guilt as now it looked more like a tame puppy... I leaned down, putting down the goblin, and after using sacred flame briefly, I put 20 MP of Healing Light into its leg as it cowered.

The wolf looked up as I picked up the goblin and backed away, feeling the pain going away and the blood stopped flowing.

It gingerly got up into its 3 legs, and I could feel the surrounding mana going into some excitement and pulling towards the wolf a small bit. The wolf closed its eyes and almost basked in the mana surge for about a minute, as its aura transformed.

The wolf Opened its eyes looked at me, and dipped its head. Then it limped off, somehow holding a dignified aura as a ruler of this forest as it left.

"That... it didn"t have that aura before did it? The feeling of how dangerous it is... increased? How could a goblin tame it? The feeling it gives my now feels unwavering."

I felt utterly confused as to what happened, but my eye caught the identification box change on the wolf for a brief moment, and my attention zeroed in as "Wolf" became "Evolving Dire Wolf".

"It"s evolving?!"

I felt no small amount of confusion as to why that happened, or even how. The idea of evolution seemed very elusive to me, but common to even trees and dogs in this world.

"...is everything a Pokémon?!"

I shook my head and continued with my goblin corpse and comatose neko, until between the tree line I saw the rocks stop the hill.

There it was. My dungeon. My home.

As my speed picked up, and I ran uphill, I suddenly stopped before the entrance.

"When did I start thinking of it like that? Didn"t this happen with the invaders too?"

After a few moments...

"...are my thoughts and feelings being influenced by my position as a dungeon boss, or is it just a b.e.s.t.i.a.l feeling of territory?"

I set my thoughts aside as a small noise came from the Neko, but they soon settled again.

They weren"t waking up yet, but it was good to see they were okay.

I refocused as I entered the dungeon, and finally my thoughts came to a decisive confirmation.

"No matter why or how, my feelings for this place, my home, are real to me. So I will fight to protect and defend it. This is undoubtably MY Dungeon, my Home."
