Today was full of surprises.First Minhyun came to her house unannounced. Second, she found out that he"d never eaten instant ramen before. Third the Moon siblings could be potential murderers. And finally, Minhyun was asking her to live with him. She couldn"t digest all this information all at once. Everything was. .h.i.tting her like bullets.
Perhaps for anyone in foreign cultures, one asking another to live with them wasn"t a big deal. However, in South Korea, for a male to ask a female this question when they were not married was abnormal. It was frowned upon in their conservative culture. This was why his words frightened her much more.
Obviously, Minhyun didn"t ask her to stay in that context. He was trying to keep her safe from the Moon siblings, especially after their dark pasts were revealed, but living with him was not a simple matter.
Yoona gulped. "Live with you? In your apartment? What if people find out?"
The reality of the situation was that if people in her school were to find out about them living together, it would end up disastrous. She would face another set of judgmental gazes.
"Your safety is more important," Minhyun said. He glanced over at her worried face and let out a small smile. "And I will make sure n.o.body speaks of this. Mark my words."
In regards to the Moon siblings, he was taking a slower approach. Their status as one of the most esteemed families in Korea also made it tricky to bring them down. Of course, he could remove their partners and tamper with their image, but he wanted to ruin them for good. This was why his plan was not immediate.
However, when it came to matters of media and individuals, he was a G.o.d. With the snap of his fingers he could shut them up or let them die. Of course, knowing Yoona, he would never go to the extremes, but this was just an example of his power.
Besides, his apartment was unique to its tenants. Privacy was guaranteed and only the most high-cla.s.s individuals lived there. All the tenants in this particular building were people who did not want their private lives displayed to the world. It was close to impossible for anyone to find out. Not even the most talented spies could penetrate through the security. The ID of all unrecognized entrants were checked. Their faces scanned through the cameras.
She would be completely safe.
Yoona closed her eyes. "Give me some time to think. My rent is ongoing and moving into your place would be a big step for me. I know that we are friends and nothing will happen but... There are just so much factors to consider."
Minhyun let out a deep sigh. Frightening her with news that the Moon siblings could be murderers didn"t push her enough. He understood her reasoning. For a female, with the lingering misogyny still prevalent in society, she had to be worried about any potential damage.
Also, although she didn"t explicitly mention this, Minhyun knew that another drawback was the trust between them. Living with someone who had recently entered your life wasn"t easy. They were on stages of getting to know each other. Their trust wasn"t set in stone. Therefore, whether or not she had faith in him was another question to consider. He knew that their process was moving too fast.
Yet, he couldn"t let her stay unguarded at night.
The building she lived at was easy to break into. There was no doubt with a hammer, he could easily smash the doork.n.o.b and kick himself inside. Anyone could. The walls looked as if they were about to collapse.
What made Minhyun"s apartment different other than the building security itself, was the security measures he input. Not only were his doors made out of special metal, it could be only opened by using state-of-the-art finger scanning technology. He also further secured his living s.p.a.ce with a movement recognition system, flashing on when someone entered the house.
Yes. They were not close enough for this huge step. Yes. Society prevented them from staying together. But his heart could not be controlled. The safest place for her to be was by his side.
"How about this," he suggested. An idea popping up in his head. "Stay over for week. You can have Eunha come over too if you"d like if you feel uncomfortable. I have extra guest rooms and washrooms that you could use. During the stay, if you feel unsafe in my home then you are free to leave."
How could she not say yes after his words?
For him to let Eunha, a girl he only known for a few days, stay at his private abode, showed how much he truly cared. As a CEO, Minhyun wouldn"t easily let people into his house, let alone sleep there for six nights. Yet, he allowed Eunha due to his worry that Yoona would feel uncomfortable.
A master of words. His compa.s.sion moved her.
Besides, if a person she cared about was under the scrutiny of people like the Moon siblings, she would no doubt act the same way as Minhyun. In fact, unlike him who was respecting her decisions, she would force the other person to comply. Safety was always first.
He was not acting out of hand. There was reasoning behind his intentions.
Therefore, there was only one answer she could give him.
"You win Mini." Yoona played with the ends of her hair, twirling the strands around while sending him a warm smile. "I"ll give it a shot."
Minhyun could feel his tensed muscles loosen. Thank the heavens she said yes. Now, his deed was done.
If he really wanted to take the easy route, he could"ve forced her to move out by kicking her out of the building, but he preferred talking it out.
Now, Minhyun was going to make sure those seven days ran smoothly with no harm. While he would slowly play G.o.d"s work, diminishing the Moon group bit by bit, she would be safe and unharmed. Everything was going well.
Today changed everything. It was very productive.
"Perfect."
Yoona squirmed in her seat. "Honestly, I understand where your coming from about my safety. It"s just sort of hard when i"m the person who is on the receiving end. I feel like i"m relying on you too much. I know it can be a pain in the a.s.s, but it"s just my personality."
He let out a grunt. "Don"t worry about that. You can rely on me more."
She let out a giggle. "Never."
"So annoying."
