Grandma Jian’s voice was filled with confusion as she continued, “Before Yunmo returned, he called me several times to ask about Yiling’s situation. Back then, he sounded incredibly anxious and worried. I’m almost 100% sure that he wasn’t faking it. Then why is he so cold after seeing her?”
“How would I know? Old woman, you’ve been asking me a lot of strange questions lately!” Grandpa Jian replied in a slightly unpleasant and impatient voice.
“You don’t even care! You don’t care that Yiling and Yunmo are having a fight!”
Grandma Jian began to tell Grandpa Jian off again.
“Hey, do you think it’s because I don’t want to care? What can I even do? Do you want me to call both of them here and ask them why they had a fallout? Do you think that’s appropriate?”
“Then what do we do?”
“I don’t think you should worry about it that much. During dinner, didn’t you see Yunmo pa.s.s Yiling’s favorite dishes to her? Even though he didn’t say anything, he still cares about her a lot. In fact, he pays attention to these small details more than us!”
As Grandpa Jian mentioned this, Grandma Jian reflected on the things that happened in the last few hours, “Oh, that makes sense. When he brought his suitcases in, I took a look at the things that he brought back from overseas. I caught a glimpse of a whole suitcase full of pink and fluffy things. No matter how you look at it, I don’t think those things are his. They’re most likely gifts for Yiling.”
“Yeah. So isn’t that fine? Why are you worrying about it so much? And you’re dragging me to worry with you. If you want to worry about something, you might as well worry about the relations.h.i.+p between Yiling, Yuncheng, and Yunnao. Those two brothers are worrisome ones.”
“I said I don’t care about those two! They can do whatever they want! Everything is okay as long as they don’t make my darling angry,” Grandma Jian grumbled back. Her voice appeared quite blunt and unfriendly on the outside. However, deep inside, she still cared.
As Grandpa Jian and Grandma Jian talked, Jian Yunmo returned downstairs.
In his hand was a signature dessert from a newly opened dessert shop in Hengyuan City.
Jian Yunmo brought the dessert in front of Grandma Jian.
Before he could say anything, Grandma Jian said in a bad temper, “I don’t like eating sweets or desserts. I don’t want to have high blood sugar levels.”
Jian Yunmo paused for a moment. A flush of embarra.s.sment pa.s.sed his face before he explained, “It’s for Yiling.”
“Then why don’t you give it to Yiling? Why are you handing it to me? She lives in the room right next to you.”
“Oh, never mind then.” Jian Yunmo said. “I’ll just leave it downstairs. If she sees it, then she can eat a few. If not, just forget about it.”
After saying this, Jian Yunmo returned back upstairs. He didn’t stop for a second at the door of Jian Yiling’s room.
Jian Yunmo’s actions puzzled Grandma Jian even more. She didn’t understand the situation at all.
And thus, she started to mutter to Grandpa Jian again: “Ahhh, what is with these grandsons of mine? Each one is more annoying than the last one!”
“Well, they’re still your grandsons. If you find them annoying, go and settle the matters with your sons.”
“Well, according to your logic, all three sons are our children. Therefore, if the problem doesn’t lie with me, doesn’t that mean that the issue is with you? Then shouldn’t I settle this matter with you?”
“Umm… Forget I said that.”
###
Jian Yunmo’s att.i.tude was of no surprise to Jian Yiling.
In the original novel, the relations.h.i.+p between Jian Yiling and Jian Yunmo was also like this.
However, this was a problem that the original Jian Yiling had never figured it out.
Previously, the two of them had used to be very close. In fact, they were almost inseparable from each other.
To Jian Yiling, her eldest brother was too cold and stern. Her third brother was not much older than her. And thus, he didn’t really feel like an older brother.
On the other hand, Jian Yunmo was almost the perfect brother. He listened to everything Jian Yiling said.
