Chapter 472: I’ll Be Sad If You’re Angry
Qin Yufan was also looking at Zhai Yunsheng.
When their eyes met, Qin Yufan laughed at herself.
She used to be able to convince herself that Zhai Yunsheng only had a simple ‘teammate’ relations.h.i.+p with Jian Yiling. Back then, she a.s.sumed that he simply admired a top gamer like himself.
However, that hug just then had completely dispelled her previous thoughts.
Zhai Yunsheng would not rush in to hug a mere teammate.
At that instant, Qin Yufan felt her heart being pierced with pain.
She understood Zhai Yunsheng. She knew what that kind of hug meant to him.
Zhai Yunsheng was a man who wouldn’t give any hope to a girl he didn’t like. If he was willing to hug someone like that, then that meant that that person had already entered his heart.
The more she realized that fact, the sadder her heart became.
She softly scoffed: “Master Sheng, I really didn’t expect that you would like that type of girl.”
Qin Yufan was a proud girl. She refused to express her dejection.
Then, Qin Yufan commented on something. It was as if she was planning to get revenge on Zhai Yunsheng: “However, just now Miss Yiling told me that in the past three years, she became acquainted with a male friend. In fact, he’s very close to her. He does research with her. On top of that, he’s very optimistic and cheerful. He’s also very good at telling jokes. It seems as though you’re a step too late.”
Whilst saying this, Qin Yufan stood up. Once she finished speaking, she walked out of the compartment with powerful strides. Her high heels clicked as she left.
After Qin Yufan left, An Yang quickly scurried away as well. He slipped out of the room and left s.p.a.ce for Zhai Yunsheng and Jian Yiling.
Zhai Yunsheng knew that Qin Yufan had said such things on purpose. However, he had to admit that what Qin Yufan had said at the end had upset him.
It had been three years… Those three years were a weak spot for him.
He had been worried that Jian Yiling had met someone else during that time.
He didn’t know what he meant to Jian Yiling. What was he to her?
Perhaps to her, he was just a former teammate.
Zhai Yunsheng turned his head to look at Jian Yiling. The look on his face was a little unpleasant.
The expression on his face made Jian Yiling a.s.sume that he was angry.
“Don’t… Don’t be angry,” Jian Yiling stammered. It had been a long time since Jian Yiling had stammered in her speech.
After a pause, Jian Yiling said: “I’ll be sad if you’re angry.”
Upon hearing these words, Zhai Yunsheng snapped his head around to look at her again. His face was full of surprise.
“What? What did you say?” Had he misheard?
“I… I’ll be sad.”
“Because I’m angry?”
Jian Yiling did not deny his question. Instead, she stated what she felt. “I’ll be sad. When you left three years ago, I was sad. Back then, I didn’t know what to do. Now, I’m sad again. And I still don’t know what to do.”
Jian Yiling had emotions. At times, she would feel sad and lonely.
However, she had gotten used to these feelings. Over time, she had learned to digest these feelings on her own.
In her childhood, she had once hoped for someone to come and keep her company.
During Chinese New Year, she had waited alone in the laboratory. Back then, she had stared through the gla.s.s window.
She waited for her parents to take her home.
However, they hadn’t come.
That day, she waited from morning until evening. From daytime till night. However, no one came to take her home for the Chinese New Year.
It was snowing that day. The entire world was a vast expanse of whiteness.
She spent Chinese New Year alone in the laboratory.
During that day, she only saw someone who was in charge of taking care of her. That person had come to deliver her food.
And thus, year after year pa.s.sed by. Holiday after holiday pa.s.sed as well.
From a certain day onwards, Jian Yiling stopped waiting for her parents. She stopped craving for their attention and love.
