Waeldestone Town, one of the very first towns built in Sacchi. Just like Pureheart, its brick roads are also mazes of narrow winding streets wherein one can get lost if the signages are not read properly. houses and structures are mostly built of bricks while those who are below the middle cla.s.s live in houses built out of wood and timbers.Of course, every town has its own specialty when it comes to crafts and culture. In this town, the smithing and forging of weapons is their primary source of income. The weapons made in Waeldestone such as swords and daggers are then sent to the kingdom in order to be used by soldiers and other knights.
The people of Waeldestone are always filled with ecstasy, except for this day. Upon arrival, Quartz could only hear the sounds of fear and terror. His eyes could see civilians who perished from the fire caused by the opposing kingdom.
Even the younglings and elderly lost their breath from the filthy works of Witherstone. The young man pities the town, and promises to avenge them.
The king and his army continue to move towards the east of the town. To their surprise, the opposing team outnumbers them when it comes to soldiers.
Just by seeing all those b.l.o.o.d.y creatures and pale-looking monsters, Quartz is immediately intimidated. He even thought of surrendering but he made a promise to avenge the town"s people.
"So... th- this is the enemy." With fear, the young man"s voice stutters after seeing the enemy aligned in a rectangular structure at the opposite side.
"Mate, the pale ones over there are the hexes. Don"t waste your b.l.o.o.d.y h.e.l.l efforts on them. Their bodies will only regenerate in a matter of seconds.
Those fat belly creatures with brown skins are the ogres. And the thinner ones are the trolls. Their only difference is that trolls are thinner and attack by the use of their rambunctious fists while ogres attack with their bats filled with blunt and sharp objects which could pierce anyone"s skin." Harold informs, introducing the opposing side by pointing each species with his sword.
"I don"t want to become their dinner. Those ogres and trolls are way taller than us."
"I know right? Plus an ogre"s fat protects them from anyone who dares to pierce their bodies with swords and daggers."
"Is... Is there any way for me to defeat them?" The young man queried again. A droplet of sweat turns into a stream as the two kings advance to each other.
"Strike the eye or head. Puncture their brain, and they"ll drop dead." Riding his horse, Kingston goes closer to the two of them and interrupts.
"And who"s the tall pale guy over there?" Quartz queries, pointing his sword to the king of the opposing kingdom.
"Him? That"s no other than Vladimir Witherheart. The king of the hexes. Before a siege begins, the two kings usually confront each other between the two armies." Harold responds.
With their horses, the kings move towards the center of the battlefield. They keep strong eye contact, as if both of them are glaring into each other"s souls.
"You"re late. We"ve devoured the whole town." Vladimir starts to the conversation.
"And as King, I will avenge the people," Felix says in a confident voice.
"Your politics bore me. Your demeanor is as those of a pouty child. Once I win, I will bathe the town with your blood." Vladimir insults. His fists clench his sword. He couldn"t wait for the siege to begin. He then laughs in a vicious manner and jumps off his horse.
From there, he pierces his sword to the ground which causes the whole land to shake. As for Vladimir"s army, they look comfortable as if they know what is happening.
For Quartz, however, he is left with confusion about all these gobbledygook. The ground continues to shake until the land cracks. A beam of blinding light then seeps out of the cracks as the ground continues to tremble.
For a moment, the ground stops to shake, and that"s when a hideous beast makes a debut to the battlefield. From the ground, a serpent with dark scales emerges. It has hideous jaws, yellow b.l.o.o.d.y eyes, and a craving for blood.
However, this serpent isn"t like other serpents at all for it is taller than the Empire State Building. If Felix has a Phoenix, Vladimir has a serpent. These are the two creatures only exclusive to the kings.
"I"m pretty sure birds are one of a snake"s prey," Quartz says in a sarcastic way. However, inside his sanity is an anxiety. His body trembles and sweats heavily while keeping minimal eye contact with the beast.
"That"s why we lose. So far, we haven"t found any of its weaknesses yet." Kingston says in a frightened manner despite his cunning looks.
"That serpent has a big appet.i.te alright. If I were you, I"d stay out of the serpent"s way and focus on the trolls instead." Harold adds and keeps minimal eye contact with the serpent too.
From the center of the battlefield, the two kings stare at each other as so as the Phoenix and the Serpent. "Let the siege commence!" The two kings lift their swords to the sky, proclaiming the advent of another b.l.o.o.d.y war...
