already cast unto her will deplete her energy if she"s no longer relying on an active G.o.d Core.So we are all counting on my final attack!
But then...
Clang! Something metallic collided with my gauntlet.
"Huh!?"
It"s a buster sword that blocked my last a.s.sault! That was so uncalled for! I immediately jumped back to a.s.sess the situation. Helena already dropped her sword a while back when Rikkun attacked her. There"s no sign that Helena used her robotic arm to transform into a sword.
Somebody defended her at the very right moment.
The one who interrupted our winning fight….
"M-Mister Heushac!" I cried.
"Heushac!" Everybody else shouted.
Yes. In front of Helena is her baby brother, Heushac. For some reason, he"s dressed in a tattered black cloak. Combined with his unwashed clothes, he really looks like a hermit hobo right now.
But more importantly… Why did he prevent my final attack!? It"s for Helena"s own good! We should have finished her, and yet he...
"I won"t let you defeat my sister!" Heushac proclaimed as he swung his broadsword left and right. His gaze is telling us that he"s going to behead anyone who will try to get close to his sister.
"Heushac, you traitor!" Rikkun shouted with anger. "I knew you"re plotting something rotten!"
"M-Mister Heushac…." I held my aching chest. I can"t believe he"s neglecting what"s right and decided to side with his sister. I thought he"s going to help us.
"B-Baby brother…" Helena muttered weakly.
Heushac turned around and made a smile to his sister. "I"m not a baby anymore, sis. I can decide on my own now. I told you, I"m going to be stronger just to protect you too. And now… I think I"m strong enough."
"Heushac!!!" Aether Crusade members are protesting on the background. But he seems to ignore those shouts. He gave out a bold word that made us all surprised instead.
"Big sis Helena… I"ll set you free."
The moment we heard those words, our eyebrows curled. We gripped hard on our weapons, ready for another b.l.o.o.d.y battle.
We all thought Heushac is already a lost cause, until-
"I"ll set you free with one condition." Heushac continued. "Fight me with your full power just like last time after the Gate Guardians Tournament."
Everybody was silent.
Everybody knows that Heushac is an idiot. But we were surprised that he"s way beyond that level of idiocy.
For some reason, I understand him. Not because I"m an idiot too, but because I feel honor and respect between brothers and sisters. I have felt the same way to my twin brother Diadem. I always wanted to discipline my sibling who had lost his way. It"s our responsibility as humans who have the same blood running through our veins to confront our past and settle our differences.
"The rules of the fight is this." Heushac continued, completely ignoring all the troubled look directed to him. "Big sis, you can pick three G.o.d Cores from your original seven. Then I"ll fight you all out."
"That"s ridiculous!" Helena weakly chuckled. "Last time we fought with three of my G.o.d Cores, I almost gouged out your left lung. There"s no way you can defeat me with threefold divinity-"
"I told you, big sis. I"m stronger now." Heushac made a safe smile. Then our proud hobo swordsman turned to us. "I know you guys are objecting, but I have to do this. I want this fight to be between us two only. If she managed to kill me, let her free."
"Heushac, you freaking moron! Wasting all our efforts just for this selfish thing!" Rikkun cried.
Heushac laughed and made an innocent smile towards us. "Ric, I"m really sorry. Just let me be just this once."
"You"re always doing what you want, rascal," Rikkun said.
I held my boyfriend"s hand to calm him down. Feeling the warmth of my palms, Rikkun had a glimpse of a peaceful mind. He made a heavy sigh as he made his decision.
"Fine. I"ll approve your rematch." Rikkun smiled. "Heushac vs Helena, Round 2, let"s go."
