Chapter 1801: I Want to Ask You Out
The driver understood. “I see. It turns out you guys are lovers. The young people nowadays are really different. A forty-year-old like me can’t keep up with you at all.”
An Lan was embarra.s.sed. “No, we are not the kind of relations.h.i.+p that you think…”
“I understand.” The driver nodded and said, “What kind of relations.h.i.+p can a man and a woman have when they stay out so late in the night? And you guys were standing at the police station’s entrance, and it says alot. I guess one of you got into trouble and the other came to help. What you guys have is true love.”
An Lan rubbed her forehead helplessly, amazed by the taxi driver’s wild imagination.
Xu Baohan, however, was very satisfied.
After arriving at the KTV, many people had already left. Only Cao Meng and a few others were waiting. An Lan took her things and waved goodbye to them.
Cao Meng smiled and reminded Xu Baohan, “Senior Xu, you must escort our great beauty home.”
Xu Baohan nodded and said to An Lan, “Wait here. I’ll go get the car.”
An Lan then remembered that he had driven to the KTV. It turned out he didn’t come back to the KTV for her at all. “Can you drive? Did you drink alcohol tonight?”
“I didn’t.” Xu Baohan shook his head.
An Lan clicked her tongue. “How did you manage that with so many old school mates meeting together? Those guys at your table love drinking alcohol, right?”
Xu Baohan smiled faintly. Under the neon lights of the KTV, he exuded a mesmerizing charm, “Whenever they tried to make me drink, I’d talk to them about the criminal law about drunk driving. Also, I told them if something happened to me while driving after drinking alcohol, the guys who persuaded me to drink would be held responsible, too, no matter they are my alumni or colleagues.”
“…”
This guy must be a devil.
An Lan muttered silently. She remembered that she had once asked him to drink with her. She must have lost her mind.
“Um… Chief Judge Xu, do you have any friends?” An Lan asked curiously.
“… I think so.”
“…”
What does he mean by ‘I think so’?
An Lan was speechless. “Isn’t Nian Junting your friend?”
“I don’t know.”
At the mention of this name, Xu Baohan frowned and said, “I didn’t know if he’s my friend or not, but I’m sure he won’t be my friend in the future.”
“Why?” She wondered if there was grudge between the two of them.
Xu Baohan stopped walking and looked at her with resignation, “Because you liked him.”
After that, he strode off to get the car.
An Lan looked at his departing tall figure, her heart thumping wildly.
So he was jealous, right? So he was serious when he said he was jealous?
However, she didn’t want their friends.h.i.+p to end just because she had once liked Nian Junting, even though they were just casual friends.
…
After getting into the car, An Lan gave him her address.
Xu Baohan found that the area she lived in was far from here and where he lived. He frowned. It wouldn’t be convenient for him to drive her home in the future.
“I can take a taxi,” An Lan said when she saw his frown.
“It’s alright, I’ll get used to it anyway.” Xu Baohan started the car, thinking that they wouldn’t have this inconvenience after they lived together in the future.
An Lan stared at him in exasperation. “I didn’t say I’d go out with you, did I?”
“You didn’t say it,” Xu Baohan drove with his eyes on the road. “But you made me give up the plan of finding a suitable woman to marry and made me realize the importance of finding a woman I like to marry, so you have to take the responsibility.”
An Lan blinked in confusion.
