Chapter 844: Please Don’t Mind, He Hardly Ever Listened to Music
Hearing that, Nian Qingyun instantly got angry. “What makes you think that you can say that about me? Didn’t you betray your wife and flirt with another woman when you were young? At least I managed to make my ex-wife and my parents get along well.”
“I didn’t really cheat on her. Besides, I did that because I wasn’t mature enough. I used the wrong method to make her care about me. However, you betrayed your wife both physically and mentally at that time,” Xu Zhengxuan said straightforwardly. “I never loved another woman, not even for a second.”
Nian Qingyun sneered. “At the very least, I didn’t lose my family business to someone and put my daughter in a miserable situation, and I didn’t force my ex-wife to leave the country.”
“That is a personal attack.” Xu Zhengxuan got angry as well.
“I think you’re doing the same.”
“Dad, stop.” Luosang even lost her appet.i.te. “You two should sympathize with each other as you’re in similar situations. Why are you fighting?”
“Who’s in a similar situation to him? Don’t compare me to him,” said Xu Zhengxuan.
Nian Qingyun stood up angrily. “I’m not stupid enough to try to flirt with another woman to try to make my wife jealous.”
“Junting, say something,” Luosang pushed Nian Junting who was eating.
“No. I don’t want to offend either of them.” Nian Junting leisurely picked a piece of sas.h.i.+mi, put it into his mouth, then said, “So delicious. It melted in my mouth.”
Luosang wanted it too.
“I’m leaving.” Nian Qingyun left in anger.
A couple of days later, Murong Cheng came to visit Luosang. She complained to Nian Junting, “Is your father sick? The last weekend, he went to my company and waited for me downstairs. He stood there for two whole days, even got sunstroke.”
“And then?” Nian Junting asked curiously.
“Then I called the ambulance.”
Luosang stayed silent. Suddenly, she felt that her father was way luckier than Nian Qingyun.
…
August was ending, the new school term was going to begin.
A new batch of students entered Ximei.
However, as a fourth year student, Luosang had nothing to do with it. Some students were preparing for the entrance exam for postgraduate school, and some were applying for jobs. However, the school was pretty strict, and the fourth year students still had to attend some required courses.
Before the school term began, Luosang moved back into her apartment so she could attend cla.s.ses more conveniently. Nian Junting and Xu Zhengxuan escorted her to the apartment. Recently, Yan Su frequently went to other cities for all kinds of events and commercial performances and rarely came home. So the apartment seemed to be a little empty. However, as Luosang moved back, the fridge was filled with all kinds of food.
About five o’clock, Xu Zhengxuan took some food out of the fridge then said to Luosang, “Luo, go and invite your mother and brother here for dinner.”
Luosang and Mo Liuxi had occupied the whole floor, so the door was open.
Luosang went over and saw that Mo Jin was sweeping the floor.
Seeing her daughter, Mo Jin gave a guilty look. “Sangsang, I was here to see what you need, but your father… I don’t want to see him, so I…”
“Mom, it’s alright. I have everything I need.” Luosang glanced at the kitchen, saw that they weren’t cooking. “Junting bought a lot of food. Let’s have dinner together.”
Mo Jin frowned. Before she said anything, Luosang held her hands and said, “Mom, ever since Dad came here, you’ve never had a meal with us in the villa. The people who don’t know what happened may think that you don’t like my father and me. You guys have divorced but you have children after all. You still need to talk to each other at some point. At my wedding, you and my father will need to stand side by side on the stage and sit together around the same table. In the future, when my baby is born, you guys still need to have meals together. You need to get used to this. You’ve been acting so weirdly; it almost makes me feel that you still like him.”
“Nonsense!” Mo Jin immediately denied it. “I’ll lose my appet.i.te as soon as I see him.”
Luosang smiled. “You need to get used to it, whether you have an appet.i.te or not.”
Mo Jin didn’t know what to say, but gave an annoyed look. “Alright. I’ll be there at dinner time.”
As Mo Jin had agreed to come, Xu Zhengxuan was thrilled. He decided to make over ten dishes for dinner. Nian Junting was sent into the kitchen to help his father-in-law. However, in just ten minutes, Xu Zhengxuan kicked him out of the kitchen.
About six, Yan Su came back from work carrying a lot of luggage. Luosang hurriedly went up to her, saying, “Wow, my big star is back!”
“Not a big star,” Yan Su smiled, “I’m just starting to get popular.”
“Don’t be too humble. On the radio, on the streets, your songs are on loop wherever I go.”
Luosang sincerely felt happy for her. “Your t.i.tle track has won the Best Song Award, and you’ve gotten into the list of popular female singers at Baidu.com. Countless companies want you to endorse their products. Aren’t you a big star? Su, you’ll catch everyone’s eyes tomorrow at school. Some of your fans left you messages on the internet saying that they’ll come to see you tomorrow at the school. I’m not going to school with you tomorrow. It won’t be safe for a pregnant woman like me as we might get crowded.”
“Alright.” Yan Su didn’t try to change her mind.
She had received the message too. Some of her fans would come to the school.
Before the dinner started, Mo Jin and Mo Liuxi came over. Looking at all those dishes on the table, Nian Junting even started to admire his father-in-law. He was so good at cooking. However, those dishes weren’t Luosang’s favorite, nor were they his.
Glancing at Mo Jin, Nian Junting figured it out.
“Here, try some of this,” Xu Zhengxuan attentively picked some food for Mo Jin. “There are all your favorites.”
“I’ll do it myself.” Mo Jin took away her bowl and said, “Don’t tell me what is my favorite. It has been decades. My preferences changed long ago.”
Xu Zhengxuan was disappointed for a second but then he immediately replied with, “It’s okay. Whatever you like, I’ll learn to cook for you.”
“Just eat. Why do you have so much to say? There are so many people here. Aren’t you ashamed?”
Mo Jin’s cheeks reddened slightly as she gave Xu Zhengxuan a glare. Xu Zhengxuan was smiling the whole time.
Mo Jin ignored him but turned and talked to Yan Su smilingly. “I’ve listened to your songs. Your songs are beautiful. I’m surprised that my daughter has made friends with a popular singer. Everybody knows your name.”
“Thank you.” Hearing the compliment, Yan Su was a little shy.
Mo Liuxi who was eating quietly abruptly joined the conversation. “I didn’t know her name.”
Yan Su didn’t respond. The atmosphere suddenly became awkward.
Mo Jin kicked Mo Liuxi under the table then apologized to Yan Su. “Please don’t mind him. He hardly ever listens to music. Besides, he grew up abroad, so he had only heard some foreign singers’ songs.”
“It’s alright,” Yan Su smiled faintly.
After dinner, Mo Liuxi and Mo Jin returned next-door.
