Chapter 1280: You Are Jealous
“It’s not intuition.” Murong Cheng t.i.ttered. “You’re just jealous. You know that he and the girl grew up together, so once the accident happened, you thought of her in the worst way. You don’t even know if she likes Jiang Yuning or not.”
“I don’t think pure friends.h.i.+p can exist between a boy and a girl,” Nian Xi mumbled. “It’s easy for a boy and a girl who grew up together to fall for each other. You see, my brother and Shuangwei, Ji Chuan and me. Besides, Jiang Yuning is so good-looking and so smart. It’s normal for girls to like him.”
“I doubt that,” said Murong Cheng. “All in all, you need to think about it rationally. Don’t be unreasonable. That’s not what a policewoman should do.”
Nian Xi didn’t know how to respond to that.
But she knew her mother was right.
She shouldn’t accuse Jiang Yuning of trusting Xinxin unconditionally. He said that Xinxin had no reason to hurt her. Maybe he didn’t think that He Xin was fond of him.
Nian Xi wanted to meet her.
…
Jiang Yuning brought the robot back to his lab and spent the whole night studying it without eating or drinking.
In the morning, he took out his phone and called He Xin.
“Yuning, why did you suddenly call me today?” He Xin sounded surprised. “This is so unusual.”
“There is a problem with the robot you gave me.” Jiang Yuning stayed up the whole night. His voice was a little dry. “It trashed my girlfriend’s kitchen and hurt her brother.”
“How is that possible?” He Xin gasped with surprise. “I’ll fly to you right now. I need to examine it. I’m truly sorry. I’ll pay for the damage.”
“I dissembled the robot last night,” Jiang Yuning said after a short silence. “I found the program coding disordered. It can’t be fixed.”
He Xin spent a few seconds thinking, then responded to him with, “Maybe it’s because I added two new functions. The new codes might have conflicted with the old ones. That’s only a guess. I need to examine it myself to find out the exact cause. I never thought it’d become like this. I guess your girlfriend was scared. I’m sorry.”
“Are the new functions making tea and coffee?”Jiang Yuning asked.
“Yes,” said He Xin. “The one I showed you last year couldn’t do those things. I added those functions this year. You said it’s for your girlfriend, so I figured you wanted to make her happy. That’s why I tried my best to expand the robot’s functions. I’ve tested it in my lab. It worked well back then. Maybe the program has broken down.”
Jiang Yuning couldn’t think of any words to argue with her.
Both Nian Xi and Uncle Han said that she liked him. Perhaps, they were both over-thinking.
He always believed he was unattractive to girls. If he had been attractive, Nian Xi would have fallen for him long ago.
“I hope you’ll be more cautious about your future projects,” said Jiang Yuning seriously. “What if the products you developed put people’s lives in danger? We can create things, but with slight carelessness, we can also destroy things. We are scientists. We have to be responsible.”
“You are right. I’ll keep that in mind.”
…
After ending the call, Jiang Yuning felt a little troubled. How should he explain it to Nian Xi to make her believe him?
Uncle Han brought food into his room at lunchtime. He ignored Uncle Han, but gazed at the robot silently.
The store called Uncle Han, saying that the kitchen appliances for Nian Xi’s apartment had all been delivered.
Uncle Han hurriedly drove to Nian Xi’s place. She was on noon break. When she answered the door, she saw Uncle Han.
“Where is Mr. Jiang?” She was a little disappointed not to see Jiang Yuning.
