Chapter 282: Everyone’s Plans
The last question crumbled Song Meng’s defenses. Song Meng had no discipline. There was a reason why she never partook in any games or gambling. She was afraid she would drown in them.
“How much did you earn?” Song Meng picked up an apple and chomped down on it angrily.
“Two million.” Li Xiangling didn’t hide it either.
Song Meng stopped eating the apple. She paused for a long while. “T… two million yuan? You made two million in a year with a hundred thousand as your capital?” Song Meng was incredulous.
Li Xiangling nodded. “I started studying this in Grade 11. I only buy those I know will make money. I did face some blips along the way, but it ended well.”
This was Li Xiangling’s first time buying stocks. She wasn’t confident in bringing Song Meng along for the ride. She didn’t need to bring Yun Xiangxiang. The actress didn’t need this money.
Li Xiangling understood Yun Xiangxiang. She was a goody-two-shoes who wouldn’t get into stocks. That was why she didn’t tell Yun Xiangxiang the reason she borrowed the money.
“Who do you need so much money for?” Just like how Li Xiangling knew her, Yun Xiangxiang knew Li Xiangling too.
Li Xiangling wasn’t someone who would risk herself for money. If she did this, she must have a reason for it.
“I’ll be applying to be a law graduate student at Yale during my junior year,” Li Xiangling laid out her plan. “I’ll be preparing for that in the next two years. I won’t have time to make money, so I need to prepare the necessary capital during my freshman year.
She would apply in her junior year and go there after graduation. There was only one year between them. Li Xiangling had to make sure her grades were outstanding in her first three years of university. Not to mention she had to take IELTS and a bunch of other tests.
She went for an interns.h.i.+p during the winter holidays last year. This year’s summer break would be the last vacation she gave herself.
The apple Song Meng was holding fell to the ground. She looked at Li Xiangling in astonishment. “Are you talking about Yale, the world’s top university for law?” Song Meng asked hesitatingly.
“Xiangxiang made me understand that if I decided to do my best, then I must shoot for the moon,” Li Xiangling smiled at Yun Xiangxiang.
“Oh G.o.d. You’re a future superstar.” Song Meng pointed at Yun Xiangxiang. And then she looked at Li Xiangling. “And you’re going to be a star in the world of law. You girls make me feel inferior.”
“You can also study abroad,” said Li Xiangling.
Song Meng shook her head quickly. “Forget it. Pa.s.sing is good enough for me. I don’t even want to try to shoot for any scholars.h.i.+ps. The entrance exam drained me. I’m your average girl living her average life.”
Song Meng knew where she stood. She wasn’t someone ambitious, nor did she want to suffer.
Of course, she wouldn’t live life as great as her friends. But she wouldn’t envy them either. Song Meng’s plan for her life was to have enough food, beautiful clothes to wear, and cute boys to ogle at.
Being a decent agent was her ideal goal.
“Do your best, Xiangling. Don’t dabble in stocks after this, okay?” Yun Xiangxiang knew Li Xiangling could discipline herself, but she still had to remind her.
“Yes, I won’t get into the stock market anymore,” Li Xiangling nodded thoughtfully.
Li Xiangling had a decent outcome. She did a lot of research before making this investment. She was trying to see what her future held.
She still had a pot of precious orchid, which could be sold for two hundred thousand yuan. If her stock investment failed, she would sell the pot of orchid to return the money to Yun Xiangxiang.
She would reserve the remaining money to create a business after graduation. She would stop after getting her bachelor’s degree.
But if she succeeded in getting the capital, Li Xiangling would have no more worries. The only thing she needed to do was to see how far she could go with her best efforts.
Yun Xiangxiang brought four more people aside from her girlfriends on this trip to Paris. They were: Song Qian, Ai Li, Coco, and Zhou Jie.
He Wei went with her too. He was worried about Yun Xiangxiang going there alone. She still had the interview and collaboration to think about.
w.a.n.g Yong stayed back with Qian Yongnian and Qian Qian. w.a.n.g Yong would take care of their meals.
After all the arrangements were made, Yun Xiangxiang and her group flew toward Paris.
No matter how many people didn’t believe in Hou Cang’s story, the fact was immutable. He had given enough evidence to back up his testimonial. It did affect him, but not much. Yun Xiangxiang hoped that the industry wouldn’t lose such a strong actor.
The news after that was unrelated to her. On the first day of her trip to Paris, Milles came to welcome them himself.
Paris was a beautiful city. Yun Xiangxiang did come here a few times in her past life for some endors.e.m.e.nt business, but she didn’t stay long.
Milles arranged accommodation for them. When they had dinner together that night, Milles told Yun Xiangxiang that she would start work after two days.
“First Love” had already started filming. Since Yun Xiangxiang’s scenes didn’t clash with the main plot, they had filmed one-third of both protagonists’ parts.
Milles gave Yun Xiangxiang two days of rest to get rid of the jetlag so that she could enter the filming in her best form.
“Take a day off tomorrow and ask Song Qian to take you on tour around the vineyards.
The nightly routine didn’t change. When Song Mian knew Yun Xiangxiang had nothing to do for the next two days, he gave her some suggestions.
“Is it your family’s vineyard?” Yun Xiangxiang was unsure.
“No, but it’s technically the same thing,” Song Mian grinned. “It belongs to Ah Jun’s family. He’s in Paris now too.”
“Oh, that’s great then. I have never seen your childhood friend before. I can take this chance to ask him to be my host,” Yun Xiangxiang was happy.
She had been to a vineyard in El Dorado. The grapevines had already bore fruit, but it wasn’t ripe yet. She wondered if the grapes in Paris were ripe.
She would bring her girlfriends out for fun before she started her work.
“Oh yeah! I have always wanted to see the vineyards here. Do they have a winery?” Song Meng exclaimed happily.
Yun Xiangxiang nodded with a smile. Li Xiangling was looking forward to it too. Most people would look forward to things they had never experienced before.
Someone added Yun Xiangxiang on WeChat before she slept. The username was: The Man who Challenges the Blacklist.
The profile picture showed a big, black spider. It looked terrifying. The user introduced himself as, “I’m Song Mian’s lover!”
Yun Xiangxiang snapshotted it to Song Mian. It seemed like Qi Jun didn’t learn anything from that kick last time. Even so, Yun Xiangxiang accepted his friend request.
Qi Jun immediately messaged her. [Oh my, my n.o.ble lady lets me through. I am Song Mian’s lover, you know?!]
[En, and I’m the woman who’s trying to s.n.a.t.c.h him away from you. Want to fight?]
Yun Xiangxiang played along.
[Great personality. I love it, my n.o.ble lady. You know, you can consider changing your partner to me. I understand women more than Song Mian does.]
[Ah, so you’re trying to get my boyfriend to be single again. You’re trying to s.n.a.t.c.h me away, dump me, and then make Song Mian single for life just like you.]
[{?} You found me out. You’re smart, my n.o.ble lady.]
[I wouldn’t be able to steal your man if I’m wasn’t, right, Young Master Qi?]
[Oh oh oh, my n.o.ble lady. I like you more and more. I can’t wait to see you tomorrow{?}]
[See you tomorrow. ]
Yun Xiangxiang logged out of WeChat and smiled. One of Song Mian’s childhood friends was a man of few words, while the other was a funny guy.
It seemed like Song Mian had a lively childhood.
Song Mian sent her a message. [Get some rest. The best way to fight against someone who is helplessly deluded is to ignore them.]
