Chapter 401: The Point is They’re a Couple
“I don’t take no for an answer.” Noticing Yun Xiangxiang wasn’t taking it, Song Mian piped up.
Yun Xiangxiang was already going to take it, but after that, she didn’t want to. “What if I refuse?”
“Then, I’ll give you this every day until you accept it.” Song Mian’s eyes were sparkling.
Yun Xiangxiang knew he would do what he said if she rejected him. “I dislike being threatened.”
“It isn’t a threat, but…” Song Mian paused for a moment before emphasizing, “love.”
Yun Xiangxiang could hear the suppressed gasps from everyone around them. Not wanting to affect everyone, she took it from him. “Thank you.”
Even though universities had lifted the ban on dating, and even though there were thousands of couples on the campus, she was still a public figure. Song Mian was standing out a lot, so it could bring trouble.
Song Mian knew when he should stop. “I hope you like it.”
After that, he smiled charmingly at Yun Xiangxiang before going past her and leaving the campus.
Yun Xiangxiang quickly went into her car and drove him, but the Internet was already filled with this scene when she left.
The post was talking about the G.o.ddess receiving a public confession. The poster was standing on Yun Xiangxiang’s side, so they said Yun Xiangxiang accepted the gift so the confessor would back off.
Yun Xiangxiang was an actress. Everyone had always thought of her as young, but now they realized she was already at the age where she could date. That day, Weibo was filled with the cries of heartbroken fans.
[I have a hunch that my G.o.ddess is going to leave me. It’s suffocating, you know.]
[I was going to lambast the guy who had the audacity to confess to our G.o.ddess, but when I saw his face, I lost all the courage to say anything.]
[As if it isn’t enough for this man to be this attractive, he’s also holding a great prestige in society. As if that isn’t enough, he’s also very talented. T.T My G.o.ddess, this kind of man is a playboy. Please don’t be moved by his sweet appearance.]
[And he’s not even that old. I must have slept terribly last night, but I think they look like a good match.]
[Having a love rival isn’t the worst part. The worst part is the rival makes you feel like he’s the one who’s supposed to be with her {???}]
…
Yun Xiangxiang didn’t expect Song Mian’s action would end up this way. That was probably because everyone was permeated by the notion that looks were everything.
Song Mian’s divine looks managed to make everyone forget the fact that he was pursuing Yun Xiangxiang. Even her fans, especially the ladies, were attracted by him.
Now Song Mian had stepped into the public arena from behind the curtains. Though he was just another pursuer at this stage, her fans thought this was common, for many men were pursuing Yun Xiangxiang.
This action was even more common in schools. A lot of girls were met with this situation on campus, let alone Yun Xiangxiang.
Like many of the boys on campus, Song Mian only gave her a gift, but he did nothing else. Her fans were taken in by his looks, so except for Yun Xiangxiang’s fans’ cries, there wasn’t a lot of chaos happening.
As she was in her car, Yun Xiangxiang typed Song Mian’s name into the search bar, and it showed her his basic information.
The details of his birthday only encompa.s.sed the month and day, while the year was missing.
Yun Xiangxiang thought of the fact that she had complained about his age before, so she thought Song Mian probably didn’t want anyone to know the gap between his and her age.
Even the small-scale promotion on the campus only revealed his age as 27, and his looks made him look younger than he was. When she thought of this, Yun Xiangxiang laughed.
There was a brief introduction that stated the university he graduated from, the honors he had procured, as well as the t.i.tle he had.
Everything else was blank. Even his workplace was missing. So perfunctory, she thought.
She thought everyone who knew him now would only label him as a typical ‘successful man.’
There was no employment information, but the honors he had and being invited to lecture at Qingdao University were enough to prove how powerful he was.
He put a lot of effort into keeping his real strength covered up. As she thought of it, Yun Xiangxiang looked at the jewelry box she was holding.
When she opened it, she saw a pair of studs sitting in there. They were a pair of pet.i.te, white platinum circles that had diamond shards decorating their sides.
Yun Xiangxiang had to put them on. When she looked into the mirror she took out, she noticed the studs were much to her liking.
She probably liked the stud, or perhaps because the one who gave it was her love.
She was still immersed in her happiness when her phone rang. Without looking at who it was, Yun Xiangxiang took the call. Suddenly, her father’s disgruntled voice spoke, “Yun Xiangxiang, are you two going to ignore everything we’ve told you?”
Yun Xiangxiang was taken aback by what her father said, but it didn’t take her a moment to snap out from her trance. She understood that Song Mian’s public show of affection was a provocation for her father.
Was Song Mian truly ignorant of this, or did he overlook this on purpose as a part of his plan to marry her faster?
“What are you talking about, dad?” Yun Xiangxiang sounded confused.
“What happened on the Internet?” Yun Zhibin suppressed his anger.
Yun Zhibin didn’t have a Weibo account, nor did he have time for it, since it was enough if Su Xiuling was following her.
He found out about this when he took care of Yun Ting while Su Xiuling was making dinner. The mischievous Yun Ting took his mother’s phone, and when he saw his sister, he quickly trotted to his father as he pointed at the screen, “Sis-sis! Sis-sis!”
And that was how Yun Zhibin saw the video in school that someone recorded. How dare they start to date in school?
Do they even respect us? How dare they show their relations.h.i.+p publicly? Angered, Yun Zhibin called her.
“Ah Mian was invited by the campus…” Yun Xiangxiang told him about the cause. “I didn’t go to his lecture at all.”
“If he didn’t have any ulterior motives, he wouldn’t have given you the gift in front of everyone after your cla.s.ses are over.” Yun Zhibin sneered.
Song Mian and Yun Xiangxiang were probably together every day, he thought. There was no need to give her a gift publicly. Only an idiot would believe it if they say there was nothing in this.
“I’m not sure. I was surprised too…” Yun Xiangxiang s.h.i.+fted the blame on Song Mian.
She didn’t know Song Mian would do this, so her stunned reaction back then was real.
No matter what Song Mian did, Yun Zhibin was going to nitpick anyway, so she didn’t mind throwing this on him. Yun Xiangxiang wasn’t going to take her father’s wrath.
A wise man once said, “Couples stay together until disaster strikes. Then it’s every man and woman for themselves.”
He was talking about situations like this.
Yun Zhibin hung up and called Song Mian, making Yun Xiangxiang feel guilty. She didn’t dare go back home now.
When she finally got home, Song Mian was already waiting for her on the first floor. He looked at her with a cryptic smile.
“Hehe…” Yun Xiangxiang decided to be honest, lest Song Mian would ‘torture’ her. “My dad…”
“What do you want to have tonight?” Song Mian was still gentle, even after listening to her story.
Is this the calm before the storm?
“Aren’t you mad?” Yun Xiangxiang probed.
“As long as we’re a couple, I don’t mind you leaving me alone when trouble comes.” Her words amused Song Mian.
The point wasn’t if she ran away from trouble; the point was they were a couple.
