Chapter 68: Did I Drink an Antique?
“In traditional Chinese medicine, observing, listening, inquiring, and feeling the pulse are enough to determine someone’s health,” Song Mian nodded.
At Song Mian’s level, a glance at a person’s face was enough to determine their health. Compared to Western medicine who only looked at data, traditional Chinese medicine was more detailed. However, reaching that level was difficult.
“I’ll have Song Qian get you some medicinal soup. Take it according to schedule after you go back.”
“Is there any problem with me?” Yun Xiangxiang got nervous immediately.
You have Gonghan [1], but it’s not serious. You still need to recuperate though.” Song Mian answered.
Women in this era would more or less have Gonghan. There was just too much great food that was cold in nature. Those that could resist the temptation simply weren’t human.
Yun Xiangxiang even fell into a pond when she was little. Every time the time of the month came, her lower abdomen bloated even if it did not hurt. She would be listless for a few days. She had already wanted to search for a cure from a doctor that practised Chinese medicine. She didn’t expect to have a miracle working doctor to make her prescriptions.
“Thank you,” Yun Xiangxiang wouldn’t reject it.
The eyes of the girl before him curled into the shape of the moon in a chilly night, dispelling the darkness with its blinding light.
Song Mian’s mood became better for no apparent reason. It was as if whatever he did was worth it as long as she could be happy and smiled.
“I hear that you like to drink tea?” Song Mian brought Yun Xiangxiang to the tea room. The tea room was filled with a variety of tea cubes. The fragrance of tea was palpable once they stepped into the room. Song Mian took a cube and started boiling it.
Yun Xiangxiang was perplexed. When did the rumour that she liked tea spread? However, she didn’t blurt it out when she saw Song Mian’s actions.
Fresh aqua boiled by the vermilion blaze; verdant fragrance beckoned by its grace.
Emerald surfaced in the twirling wisp; into the windowsill the melting warmth seeped.
Yun Xiangxiang wasn’t someone who liked to be poetic. That was because it was too hard to find poetic stuff in modern society.
She had always been someone who went with the flow. She wouldn’t beg for things that were hard to get. She believed that happiness lay in contentment.
However, Song Meng’s every action today was utterly picturesque. Even so, he did not feel distant.
Yun Xiangxiang didn’t feel bored even if all she did was look at him quietly.
Under the twirl of the fragrant tendrils of mist, the man’s face started becoming misty. The aesthetic blurriness engrossed those who saw it.
“Have a taste. How does it compare to Darjeeling tea?” Yun Xiangxiang didn’t regain her wits until a cup of tea was sitting in front of her.
Yun Xiangxiang smiled abashedly. She lifted the tea up to her nose and took a whiff, “It’s so fragrant!”
The tea had a rich fragrance. There was a hint of bamboo, orchid, sandalwood, and earthy clay in it, making it as fresh and clean as nature. It was refres.h.i.+ng just like the autumn moon with fragrance predominant to the orchid field.
The taste of the tea lingered within her mouth and mellowed out slowly. It caused her to indulge in it.
Old Man Min’s Darjeeling made people feel refreshed; this tea made people feel light both in body and mind.
“Have some more if you like it. It’s good for your body.” Song Mian poured another cup for Yun Xiangxiang.
“Is this herbal tea?” Yun Xiangxiang knew nothing about tea. However, this tea’s fragrance was one of a kind. It didn’t feel like it was emitted from the tea. On top of that, Song Mian said that it would benefit the body.
“This tea can clear the heart and mind. It can work up your appet.i.te, heal your spleen, sooth your throat and make it easier to swallow. If you drink it regularly, it can also facilitate the metabolism, lower your blood lipids, regulate and suppress cholesterol levels. Also, it can freshen you up and make you sober,” Song Mian explained to Yun Xiangxiang, “It’s not a medicinal tea for prescription.”
“Then what kind of tea is this? It’s so magical,” Yun Xiangxiang couldn’t help but to feel curious.
“Golden melon.” Song Mian answered.
*Cough!* Yun Xiangxiang almost spewed the tea she drank. However, she then thought about how expensive this tea was before forcibly gulping it down. It didn’t take long for her to be choked.
“Be careful,” Song Mian stretched his hand to pat her back. It was a special patting technique. He only took a stroke or two to make Yun Xiangxiang breath smoothly.
Yun Xiangxiang who had calmed down said stupidly, “So what I drank just now was antique?”
Even though she didn’t know much about tea, Yun Xiangxiang did act in an epic ancient drama in her previous life. She did know what golden melon was!
Golden melon tribute tea was called as “Pu’er of the Emperors.” It was a tribute item for ancient emperors. The tea leaves were specially picked from Wuliang Mountain in Yunnan. The leaves were sitting at two thousand meters above sea level. It was a craft that followed the ancient ways.
Old Man Min’s Darjeeling tea was still purchasable. However, it was said that there were only two lumps of the authentic version of this tea left in the world. They were displayed in museums. Of course, there were some that were scattered among the common folk.
This was no longer a tea leaf. It should have been an incomparable treasure.
Song Mian couldn’t help but let out wisps of laughter when he saw Yun Xiangxiang’s adorable face. “This tea might have been a priceless treasure for other people. However, what I have can provide for you for lifetime.
Yun Xiangxiang missed Song Meng’s double entendre. She was too shocked about the fact that the legendary tea that was rumored to be extinct was inexhaustible here. She shook her head vigorously, “I can’t accept that. I’m afraid that I won’t be able to sleep at night.”
This stuff was more expensive than gold and diamonds. She would rise to the heavens if she were to drink it every day!
“Shall I take you out for a stroll?” Song Meng didn’t expect Yun Xiangxiang’s reaction to go that way. He couldn’t tell her that he would give her the tea leaves and could only divert the topic.
“Will I hold you up?” Yun Xiangxiang thought that Song Mian might be someone who took care of a million things a day.
“Coincidentally, it’s my off day today,” Song Mian answered with a smile.
Song Yao, who was at the entrance, overheard that sentence. He almost tripped and fell!
Oh my, young master. How bold of you to even say that. You don’t know how many people are going insane just because you suddenly decided to take a day off. That earl nearly busted my phone just through calling!
“Then I guess it would be impolite to decline.” Yun Xiangxiang was looking forward to a tour in the yard that was built in perfect recreation of ancient style.
“Young master…”
Both of them heard Song Yao gently summoning him with an expression of reluctance. Yun Xiangxiang automatically took a few steps forward.
Song Mian walked over to face Yun Xiangxiang after he finished listening, “Have Song Qian take you on a stroll. I’ll be back quickly.”
“Eh…” Yun Xiangxiang was just about to tell him that she wouldn’t want to trouble him if he was busy and that she would go back.
She didn’t expect Song Mian had already gone through the moon gate just after she blinked. He didn’t run nor walk in haste. It was absurd!
“Xiangxiang,” Song Qian’s voice suddenly rang our behind her. It made her jump.
“Please be considerate of the feelings of a mortal like me, young masters,” Yun Xiangxiang complained.
Song Qian smiled at her sweetly, “Let’s go. I’ll show you around.”
“Can’t we just leave right now?” Yun Xiangxiang lowered her voice to ask.
“It wouldn’t be too nice. You have to say goodbye to the young master yourself.” If I leave with you just like that, I would probably get taken off the Song Family’s family tree! Song Qian criticized silently in her heart. “On top of that, the young master ordered us to get your medicine.”
Yun Xiangxiang also thought that it was impolite that way, “Alright, we’ll take a stroll.”
Yun Xiangxiang said to Song Qian after a few steps, “Call Song Yao and ask him to make a lunch that mortals can eat.”
She would have to stay for lunch at this rate. Yun Xiangxiang already had a lingering fear of golden melons. She didn’t want the dining table to be full of food that would cost a house for every bite!
