Hero Of The World

Chapter 55

He had trained his magic and got good results so far, but he still wasn"t able to turn his hands into either water or ice.

But he still got a basic mastery over water, and can use some weak ice spells. But a pleasant surprise was that he can turn his hand into light element already. But he didn"t know how effective it would be.

As for his movement technique, since when active, it can increase his speed, besides from the three steps that he can use, he trained it using the gravity crest that he inscribed on his equipment.

That way he started running in the s.p.a.ce with his skill activated. As the more he exerted himself the more it increased his speed.

He had wanted to master the second step before he started his journey, and then master the third step as quickly as possible, for him to be able to meet Lori.

Once the morning came and the training started Ned did the same as yesterday, as in train his basic sword moves.

And in this way, a month pa.s.sed with him training his magic at night, and sword arts at the day. As for Eline he never met her again.

Now he was standing opposite the old man, and panting hard. Today marked the day he mastered the basic moves.

He had just finished a two hour fight with old man, with the both of them using only the basic moves.

The reason he mastered the basic moves so fast was, that he already had a good foundation. Plus he had the Talent Sword mastery. Normally such a training will take a genius at the sword around six months, and an ordinary man around a year.

"Now will be the next part of your training. Control." Alaster said. "You need to be able to control how much power your strike hold."

"And to do that we would need that gravity magic you talked about." He finished with a smile.

Nodding to the old man. Ned asked him what to do and was told to engrave the magic circle upon the sword and if possible the gauntlets too. Which he did.

Then he started doing his normal basic stance with the enhanced weight.

Training this way, will make his sword moves more powerful but he didn"t know if he"ll be able to control his strength afterwards. Still he wouldn"t question his master.

The old man was already at the epitome of the sword. The only thing that was left for him was to breakthrough rank 8 into rank 9. Something he was unable to do until now.

So Ned did what he said with no questions. And another month went by just like that.

When he thought about it, he had spent almost half a year in this kingdom.

Nonetheless he had did what the old man tasked him with and he was ready for the next thing to do.

Which involved, as the old man said, instinct.

He would be placed in a room, full of training puppets that can fight. They were enchanted to repair themselves, and wouldn"t stop working, if you didn"t use the correct amount of strength in each strike.

At first he didn"t understand well, but when he fought the first one, he was frustrated. No matter how much hard or soft he hit it, it just regenerated in a second.

But after a bit he understood, what he needed to do.

He tried to control his strength as much as possible, then experimented on the puppets, until he was able to kill it.

But every puppet had a different amount of strength needed.

In this way days pa.s.sed, with him suffering to control his strength. But along the days, he finally understood the old man when he said instinct.

When he fought the puppets now, he would just allow his instincts to guide him and show him how much strength was needed.

Once he mastered it, the old man said that he was finally ready for the advanced sword arts.

"Now that we covered your foundation. It is time for you to learn some decent skills. Since you said that you can master any moves since you don"t use a technique to advance in ranks, I"ll be honored to teach you my sword moves." Alaster said.

While Ned bowed his head a bit. "The honor is mine"

"However I would still advice you to only use the skills of one technique, otherwise you"ll grab much attention to yourself. And furthermore, even if you tried to master the techniques fully. You wouldn"t be able to." The old man added.

And Ned was perplexed suddenly. He asked uncertainly "Why can"t I master them if I train hard?"

"Because the only way for you to master the skills, would be to hone your instinct fully. And that is something you would only be able to do, in a battle. And particularly death battles." The old man said seriously. Gone was the grandfatherly persona. He wanted Ned to understand this part seriously.

Ned got back his focus, and solemnly nodded while telling the old man he understood "I understand old man. Thank you for your guidance"
