The mood this afternoon is a little too carefree. I always kill time here at my favorite cafe, sitting at my usual window seat. I enjoy this cafe because although I know nothing about stocks, the coffee is decent and fairly priced. After leaning back into  chair for a long while I, Yomiya Ruito leak out a small sigh.

On the opposite side of the table from me is a woman with long black, slightly wavy hair, black pupils and a mischievous look in her eyes.Although she already has a chest so big that it screams out her s.e.x, the fact that her arms were crossed  under that chest made them bulge out to even further a.s.sert their presence. To further add to this, she’s wearing a vertical striped sweater that approvingly adds to the volume of her breast. Trying not to be too obvious about enjoying such a spectacle, I  take a long sip of coffee. While the residue of aroma and bitterness is still lingering down my throat, without giving me anytime to enjoy myself the woman sitting in front of me speaks up.

Woman: With laughter in her voice “So what’s your answer?”

I really don’t know what’s so funny, but apparently this woman seems to be enjoying the situation, not to say that familiar with situations of which a woman would be enjoying herself.

Ruito: “I just need a little bit of time to think.”.

Even though I get the feeling that she won’t be giving me much time to think, let’s use this time to recall how I ended up in this situation. We may be sitting at the same together face to face, but I don’t know who she is.

Even though taking exam leave from University will effect my surroundings very negatively, University wasn’t something  I  ever cared for. Still, to make a active decision that will certainly cause my parents to drop all financial support for me and also create a number of issues is something. Which if I remember is why I came here. I was supposed to spend my days reluctantly taking lectures and joining a circle. That all ended today, I rejected all of University life all at once, today too i was supposed to be attending a lecture but decided to ditch. I came to this cafe, sat down and started thinking about a way to waste my time. And anyone would remember if the woman that’s here now laughing and smiling sat down in front of you, so she certainly wasn’t here anytime before. I get the feeling that this situation is going to proceed without my permission, and not in the traditional sense.

Woman: “Okay you’re time is up, you don’t think that time stopped forever, right?”

She pointed at me, or to be exact she was pointing right next to my head. Not turning my head and only using my eyes I saw it. There frozen in place is a car b.u.mper and a significant portion of debris of countless gla.s.s shining  brilliantly while floating in the air trying to Tsukkomo me by aiming at my head. It was like a beautifully painted picture.

Ruito: “This is to help me escape right? I’m going to be allowed to leave this.”

I know asking this is useless, but still I had to ask. With pale expectations that she might nod, the woman in front of me flatly shook her head left to right with slightly narrow eyes.

Woman: “If you try to flee I will proceed to return us to time.”

I shrug and give into this kidnapping woman’s words. But perhaps maybe I can somehow avoid the gla.s.s debris if the situation arises. However, when looking into the woman’s eyes, reality came down. I don’t have the courage to try a bad bet right this minute and I’m not that type of person to. Reluctantly, I hold my coffee cup to drink and in order to calm the mood, aware of the content  floating next to me. I sigh.

Here’s the situation, although i don’t know how it’s possible and don’t have a theory on how it could be possible. I hadn’t noticed before, but the owner of the cafe, who is in my line of vision, has also stopped moving, and I a.s.sume that applies to the people outside as well. Everything has stopped. I’m guessing the woman in front from can really understand my feelings right now. I trace the rim of the coffee cup as I continue to contemplate what’s happening. However, my peaceful contemplation was interrupted as the women held out the palm of her hound and my empty coffee cup was filled with just the right amount of brown liquid.

Woman: “Don’t worry about drinking it, it’s not poisoned.”

Ruito: “I suppose being poisoned would be much more comforting compared to the what’s coming my way”.

Woman: Laughing. “I Don’t know about that,  I’ve never died before.”

Vomiting a sigh of resignation I drink from the coffee cup.

Ruito: “I’m sorry, but is it possible to hear what you had to say from the start? Because of all the outrageous content I haven’t been able to take this in as reality.”

Woman: “Okay, I’ll say all of it” With her elbows on the table she gave a laugh and smiled. “First of all, I have say that I am an existence that you humans would call “G.o.d”.”

Ruito: “Wouldn’t you be a Devil?”

If you think about it, that’s really more suiting to the situation. Temporally stopping a car that has plunged into the store is one thing, but using it as a tool to not allow someone to escape is another. That’s more inclined towards evil than good, I would think.  However the woman that identifies herself as a G.o.d shakes her head of such words with a somewhat sulking expression.

Woman: “There’s no doubt that I’m a G.o.d. However the difference of what you humans determine an existence, such as myself, to be a G.o.d or a Devil is akin to what you differentiate an insect. If the insect is beneficial then it is an insect, but if it’s not then it’s a pest.”

It’s true that the difference is really selfishly human oriented.

Woman: “It also depends on the time and place that determines what existence is called G.o.d or Devil. There was a time when it was even a disadvantage to be claiming oneself as G.o.d.”

Either way, whether or not the woman’s a.s.sertion is good or bad, I’m not really going to refute it. As practical as she sounds, whether or not she’s a G.o.d or Devil doesn’t change the relationship between us. Either way my fate is in this woman’s hands.

Ruito: “Because there’s really no point in continuing this part of the conversation, I’ll accept that you are a G.o.d. Please continue your story under that a.s.sumption.”

Woman: “Well it’s not like you can’t protest against it. So the reason I’ve appeared before you is because I want you to serve under me from now one.”

That’s a common story setting in novels, I think as I drink more coffee. Whether it’s light novels or web novels, it’s definitely not going to be a unique story. Although to kill time I would think that it’s pretty close to optimal reading material, at least i think so. After all the stories aren’t over complicated, no no need for thinking. Easy to read, no need to stress and yet still filled with a decent amount of reading material to take up time. That’s good reading. That’s also the situation placed before me. A woman claiming to be G.o.d right in front of my very eyes came out of nothing and asked for my service.

Ruito: “Before you tell me what you want me do, I have one thing to ask you.”

Woman: “What would that be?”

Ruito: Pointing at the car b.u.mper floating in the immediate vicinity of my head. “By chance does this have anything to do with you, miss?”

In the typical setting of light novel with this fantasy setting, the meeting with the G.o.d is usually done after the death of the protagonist. Sometimes even the Hero would die by G.o.ds mistake or in order to send the hero to G.o.d, the hero was killed deliberately. I can’t help but think that this situation is somewhat similar. Unceremoniously she dismisses my question right away.

Woman: “I was not at all involved with this situation.I was looking for a suitable person and came upon your circ.u.mstances. I found you to be a suitable person and by chance it just so happens that a car was nearing you when I arrived.”

Ruito: “In other words this is all a result of my own bad luck.”

Woman: “Well I wouldn’t go that far, It’s lucky for me.” She laughs.

I vomit out a deep sigh. Someones misfortune is the good fortune of someone else. Although that appears to be the way of the world, I never thought that I would be involved in such a thing. But the fact that the car plunging towards me is not intentional and purely the result of my own bad luck, leaves me without anyone to hit. There’s nothing left to do but to give up. I drink the rest of my coffee.

Ruito: Holding up empty coffee cup. “Second Helping?”

After a moment of silence, she refills my coffee cup.

Woman: “Too much of that is bad for your health.

Ruito: “Is this a story about my intake of caffeine? It’s a little too late to care about that. After all……”

Glimpsing at the b.u.mper that’s at my eye level spearing towards me, I’m in a somewhat negligent mood.

Ruito: “I won’t be die from cardiac arrest. Even without it aren’t I going to die?” I look at her with an exhausted look. “Rather it’s better for me to drink coffee now than later, since I’m likely not to drink it again. If i’m going to be killed, the only time I can enjoy it is now.”

Woman: “Do not say things like being killed.”

Ruito: “If I’m going to be here, I wan’t as much coffee as I can drink.”

Thinking around the idea of doing what this G.o.d want’s, maybe I can get out of this situation. Otherwise I really will die. That means there won’t be anything to drink anymore, no more coffee.

Ruito: “So G.o.d, what is it that you want me to do?”

Typically in this is when the G.o.d gives a request to the hero. It’s always ambiguous and  roughly along the lines of “save the world”, “Go defeat the Demon King that threatens the world.” or  “Obtain this item for me.”. Maybe the way to save it will be fresh and new. If not that, then maybe something similar. Then we’ll have a back and forth where she’ll say “Please save the world, you’re our only hope!” and I’ll be like “Of course, if it’s for the good of the people. But maybe it’s best if I don’t reveal my face to the public.” Surprisingly, I’m a getting a little excited for this.

Woman: Locking eyes she leans over the top of the little table and says “Hey, won’t you come to my world and destroy it?”

Ruito: “Are you sure you’re not a Devil?”

Finishing my sentence she immediately changed facial expressions and started pouting with puffed cheeks.
