Hidden Hallows

Chapter 3

Sh.e.l.ly looks at me with a smirk and says "Have fun, deary." Her salt and pepper hair is tied up in a large bun on top of her head as she looks at me through her purple rimmed reading gla.s.ses. I chuckle at her and wave as I leave. The wind was starting to pick up but the heavy clouds still refuse to release the rain. Judging by the feel of it, it would be another thirty minutes or so before it started raining.

I hop in my car and head over to the shopping center nearby. I grab what I need for Sunday night and head back out. As I close my door, the rain finally begins to fall. I turn the radio off and lean back in my seat to listen to the rain. It was so calming and soothing.

Suddenly, a loud knock comes from my window making me nearly jump out of my undies. I look at the woman with the red polkdotted umbrella and slightly roll my window down with a frown. "Can I help you?" I ask with irritation.

She gives me a sheepish smile and says "I saw you getting in your car and was wondering if you were going to leave. I wanted to take your spot." I literally feel my eye twitching as I say "Yeah. I"m leaving now..." She beams at me and runs back to her equally bright red car.

I sigh and pull out of the parking spot. It"s fine, I need to pay Kyle a visit anyway and I want to do it before crowds of people start showing up. I head over to the Blue Nile and wave at the familiar workers. It"s off Frenchmen St and has some of the best neon lightings. My hair is silvery white so when I walk into the place, my hair lights up and takes on all the colors of the cool lights, especially the blue lights!

They still weren"t "open" open but I come here often so they don"t say anything but nod and wave when they see me walk in. They know I"m friends with Kyle, one of the best bartenders I know. When I see Kyle behind the bar, drying off some gla.s.ses for tonight, I head straight for him.

As if sensing danger, he looks up and when his eyes land on me, he nearly drops the gla.s.s in his hands. He quickly puts the gla.s.s down and says "Eris! Calm down! I only gave it to him because it was important. You know I wouldn"t give it out otherwise!"

When I reach the bar, I lean over and quickly grab his tie. I yank him forward and stare into his ocean eyes as I say "The next time something "important" comes up, YOU call me. Don"t give my number out to strangers. The next time it happens, I"ll turn you into a woman!"

He swallows hard and nods his head with fear in his eyes. He"s one of the very few humans I actually hang out with and talk to. I release his tie and watch with a smile when he stumbles back into the rack behind him.

He quickly collects himself and fixes his tie before giving me a dry look, mumbling "It was just a number... not enough to take a man"s..." He stops mid-sentence when I give him a look. He pulls out a small gla.s.s and pours me a shot of vodka and says "On me"

I frown at the gla.s.s and say "While I do like drinking from time to time, it"s barely noon." Kyle shrugs and knocks the vodka back in one clean move. He has sandy blonde hair with green-blue eyes that you could lose yourself in. He"s definitely a cutie but not my type. Also a huge flirt.

"Tell me what you know about the missing girls," I say sitting down in one of the stools at the bar. Kyle goes back to cleaning as he says "Some man in his forties came in last night and looked like he"d seen h.e.l.l. I gave him a drink and left him alone but when the haunted look on his face didn"t get better, I just couldn"t ignore him, ya know?"

I nod as if I do and he continues "He then started telling me about seeing not one, but three women being s.n.a.t.c.hed like they weighed nothing!" I frown at him, missing his point. Seeing the look he puts the cup down and leans in so that he can whisper "The SNP (Super Natural Police) was called but even they couldn"t figure out what took these women."

"Whoever"s doing it, is doing it so well that they aren"t leaving a trace. The man said it moved so quickly, he couldn"t see anything but a black shadow." Kyle says with an edge to his voice. I nod my head slowly and ask "Where have the woman gone missing?"

I pull my phone up to google all the locations but Kyle surprises me when he says "All from the same park. Ten women in a single week." My dark eyebrows shoot up as I bring my phone up to my chin. "Huh, interesting," I say putting my phone away and getting up.

Kyle watches me with confusion and asks "Interesting? What does that mean?" I smile at him and say "If the man comes back, tell him I"ll take care of it and to get rid of my number. If I finish early enough, I"ll come back tonight and have a drink."

He watches me leave with confusion but doesn"t call out to me again as I walk out of the club. I decided to bring my stuff home and get stuff ready for my hunt tonight. After a short drive, I bring my things in and begin changing.

After changing into a small black dress with a corset, I tie it up with a red string and slip on my black boots. My long white hair falls all the way down my back as my silver eyes flash with excitement. As I walk back into the living room, Binx turns from the TV and looks me over with a bored look. "Where are you running off to?" Binx asks with a swish of his tail.

I give him a knowing smile as I say "Hunting." Binx"s green eyes flash for a brief moment before saying "Have fuuun." I chuckle at the lazy thing and quickly leave. After parking at the park Kyle told me about, I get out of my car and pop the trunk.

I reach in and pull out a black lace umbrella. I smile at it before shutting the trunk with a light touch. I turn and open the umbrella with a "swoosh" and spin it with a smile. It may look like a normal umbrella but it was anything but.

I prop the umbrella on my shoulder and walk over to the park with a pep in my step. It was still slightly drizzling but the rain had pretty much stopped for the night. If this was a normal lace umbrella, the drizzle would have soaked in within ten minutes but this umbrella was made with magic.
