~ Adventurer"s life Day 6 (Sat) Morning ~ Comnes Town – Back Alley
I started preparing my equipment at the Adonnis" shop. Since we"ll be heading to the marshlands, we make our way to the north gate.
I was thinking of heading to the adventurers guild to take a simple request, but since my entire body is still aching from the injuries, I want this to be over as quickly as possible.
Walking through the town with a skeleton with me feels a little too conspicuous, so I was thinking of returning it back into the coin, but I"m gonna need the skeleton to protect me right away once I leave the gate so I decided not to.
It"s fine, since it"s only the summoning method that I wasn"t to be kept a secret.
Calling it and returning it from the coin probably takes some mana too. So frequently summoning it back wouldn"t be a good idea.
Right now, the amount of mana I have left is important.
If I happen to have some mana left to spare after this, I"ll use it on making some potions for myself.
To not make myself conspicuous, I walked through the alley instead of the main road.
Though I can only get through here slowly because of these wounds…
I"m a little worried how people will react when seeing this guy.
Then again…
(Uwa… They"re staring at me…)
Even through the alley, there"s still a number of people there, all with shocked reactions when seeing this way.
It"s not at the level of a panic, so that"s good I guess.
We"re walking with a soldier like composure so hopefully that would help tell others that this isn"t something to worry about.
Though having the skeleton show it"s weapon at full view isn"t helping here.
Even I seem to be gathering some attention to myself.
… Having dressed as a barbarian while accompanied with an armed skeleton probably want a good idea… I start to hasten my pace and ignore all the stares around me.
After what felt like forever, I was pa.s.sing through the north gate and by chance I met my former colleague.
"Woah! The heck is that thing!"
"As I said, it"s my summon!"
Even though he"s supposed to be in middle of work, he"s still having a casual chat at me…
After being questioned numerous times from other former colleagues that just seems to be gathering up, I finally managed to shake them off.
… Well, I guess that would mean Ruben didn"t tell them anything then huh?
~ Adventurer"s life Day 6 (Sat) Noon ~ Comnes Town – Small Road to the Marshlands
After leaving town, I went through the usual route and had the skeleton take the lead while walking.
I found some Toorinagusa along the way, so I stuffed those in my bag.
Around the northern area, sh.e.l.led rabbits don"t usually live around here, but it"s not like you won"t be able to find some.
I noticed a group of soldiers along the way, most likely on patrol to keep monsters in check for the surrounding villages.
Well, since I"m walking through the northern area, the chances of encountering sh.e.l.led rabbits is low, but it"s not like there"s no chance of it happening.
While thinking of something like this, I continue to head towards in the direction to the marshlands as the gra.s.s also start to become taller.
Right then,
*Rustle Rustle*
(….)
If possible, I don"t want deal with anything that could get me hurt right now…
Even more so when it"s hard to see around because of the tall gra.s.s.
I hear the rustling coming from my left, so I had the skeleton take a stance with the shield on that direction and had myself hiding behind it.
The gra.s.s that was making a constant rustling sound suddenly stopped and so I immediately put some force onto my shield… But, the fight seems to have already ended before I knew it.
*Bam!*
Looking over from the sound, the sh.e.l.led rabbit was already lying on the ground.
It appears it made a head on collision with the skeleton"s shield…
I think it"s all dizzy now.
Well I guess there are situations like this that happens every now and again…
Even so, without hesitation I went over and gave the final blow.
(… Now that was a little anticlimactic.)
Not that I"m complaining of course.
Before dismantling it, I thought I could create another skeleton out of it, but that doesn"t seem to be the case.
I probably don"t have enough mana, so one skeleton at a time is most likely my limit.
I had the skeleton stand guard and began disa.s.sembling the rabbit.
After I"m done, I took the more valuable parts with me and continued on walking.
Once again, I had the skeleton take the lead… Before long, the surrounding gra.s.s became shorter. I"ve arrived at the marshlands.
Immediately, I looked around and found a bunch of Yacchoutai… In the meantime I had the skeleton deal with the surrounding slugs.
Pretty useful since it can just stomp on them without worry.
Once I had all the ingredients ready, I start with the potion making skill.
As per usual, I managed to create the green colored health potion in the wooden tub.
I covered the injuries on my body with the potion until the tub has been completely dry. The pain has been considerably better, and the open wounds now turned into red scars.
(Alright, I probably can"t make another one anymore huh.)
When I woke up this morning, I feel that my mana had regenerated, though only a little. Since I still need the skeleton around me, I"ll refrain in using anymore of my mana for now.
There"s no point in collecting a lot of herbs either since they"ll just wither soon anyways, so I only collected a handful and left.
With nothing eventful happening along the way, I arrived back at Comnes.
After returning the skeleton back into the coin, I pa.s.sed through the northern gate calmly.
I pa.s.sed here this morning, but the guards have all changed shifts so no one here should recognise me.
The only thing I have left to do is to exchange these sh.e.l.led rabbit materials with the guild.
After that, I"ll head to the inn and maybe see if I can make another potion before sleeping.
~ Adventurer"s life Day 7 (Sun) Morning ~ Comnes Town – South East – Beginners Rock Field
After finishing my breakfast and leaving the inn, I headed directly to the rock field.
I can"t really judge how good my skeleton"s battle prowess is from the fight yesterday, but it seems pretty good based on its physical strength alone.
Like before, I travelled past the rock field to hunt for some sh.e.l.led rabbits.
This time I"ll have the skeleton fight by itself, so I wander around until I found one in the distance and had the skeleton attack.
Noticing our presence, the rabbit rushed over to us.
After about two attacks, the fight was already over.
After telling the skeleton to stop, I rushed to it and dealt the final blow.
(This guy is pretty strong….)
It has enough power to handle at least one sh.e.l.led rabbit…
Though looking at the beaten up rabbit, it doesn"t seem this guy can finish off monsters cleanly. It"s still plenty strong though.
Strong enough to make my second day as an adventurer look like a joke.
I put that thought aside for now as I start to dismantle the body, but at that time,
(…. !?)
From my feet, a white light started to spring up, enveloping my body in an aura.
(Ooh, this is… a level up!?)
I feel a surge of excitement welling up.
It"s finally here… I can finally become–
"aaaaggghhhh!!"
From what felt like my bones grinding, muscles tearing and skin stretching. Before I can even notice, I was already spazzing on the ground.
Holy h.e.l.l this hurts!
