– Adventurer Life Day 54 (Fri) – Morning – Comnes Town – Warehouse near Western Gate
“This amount is probably enough.”
“Quite a lot had been piled up…”
Inside the warehouse was a mountain pile of steel materials.
The steel here was all from Adonnis, after dealing with the iron sand we brought over from the abandoned mine.
It"s all in preparation for upgrading the stone golem once more, into an iron golem.
Benedetta made a complaint.
“However strong the iron golem might be, it took a lot of work and time just to get to this.”
“It does take a lot of work, but the end result will definitely be worth it.”
“Well, that would be the case… but maybe it would"ve been better to move down south first as the steel there is much cheaper…”
“But the steel here is free, it"s a chance that wouldn"t happen often.”
While talking like that, I looked at the mountain of steel in front of me and felt a great sense of accomplishment.
Finally, after completing the task of mining, then sending it to Adonnis, then bringing it all here…… yeah, I really don"t want to do this again…
Now then, let"s not waste anymore time in making this golem up…
As I walk over to the mountain, Benedetta called out.
“Ah… Nemo, hold on.”
“Hm? What is it?”
“Would this warehouse be fine even when summoning it?”
“Ah…”
Taking into the size the stone had right now, it"s about nearing 3 meters in height.
In addition, it"s body is also quite large too and had been in a crouching position. If a golem that size were to stand up then… it probably would break the ceiling huh.
This warehouse wasn"t particularly expensive as it doesn"t accommodate for large wagons, and so the height of inside the room is only just a little larger than a normal house.
There"s a chance the new golem might break the ceiling here… and I don"t really want to have to deal with the repair fees.
I could try to get it to squat when being summoned, but I don"t think there"s any need to risk it.
Recently, I found out that the steel here are heavier than stone… so in theory, the size of the steel golem should be smaller than the stone golem anyways.
However, just in case, we had all the materials carried out to summon the golem there.
Right outside of the warehouse, I had a look around to see if there was anybody around…
To begin with, this area here is only lined up with warehouses, so there shouldn"t be much activity going on around here.
I called out 20 of my skeletons first, and had them take all the steel out in a neat line.
Once everything had been taken out, I tried summoning it quickly!
“Alright! Come!”
I can feel my mana pour out of me, but I should be able to easily supply enough of it.
Whether it is ‘Bone Servant" or ‘Polpenius" Horse", or any other summoning type skill, the amount of mana used when summoning is pretty much the same as if it were on standby.
With the summoning system working like that, mana consumption for summoning is almost negligible compared to keeping it in operation… in fact, it steadily reaches that point based on how heavy it is.
And so, as the golem continues on getting larger, I finally felt the mana consumption rate had steadied…
“Ah! The golem is ready!”
“Hm!?”
In contrast to Benedetta"s cheerful rejoice, somehow, something here seems a little unexpected to me.
(… It"s pretty small? The height doesn"t seem to even reach two and a half meters.)
No well, I can"t really call it small as it is pretty much the same height as Phillips", but compared to the stone golem, it doesn"t give off the same pressure as before.
And there"s still about half of the steel left over… it"s not really something I was expecting.
However, giving the golem a couple of knocks around the body, it does sound like it was solidly built.
(Hm… Actually, this could be pretty good…)
“This one looks like a person.”
“It sure does.”
That"s one way to look at it.
Though the body of it is smooth, its chest is big like a body builder"s, along with high shoulders, thick thighs, neck and arms, they"re are all quite human like, and it adds quite a bit of charm to the golem.
“This isn"t too bad.”
Taking a good look at it more closely, he had a face looking like that Oscar statue… Oh, that"s right!
“Nemo?”
This is an added detail of mine, but I went ahead and ‘Model" it to have it match the same look as the rest of my party.
Like the other skeletons, I added some of those fur onto the helmet to, and from that helmet I added a mask to cover the eyes and nose. I had the mouth and chin made into a human shape, and added some ta.s.sets that dug into its body.
“This is!?”
“To match it along with the skeletons.”
“It has the same equipment like the skeletons, even giving it more of a presence… is it to make it seem more human?”
“I heard long ago of a giant G.o.d made of bronze. For that, I"m naming it Talos.”
“Was there such a legend from your home place?”
It was actually from the other world…
Benedetta tries pushing it at its waist, and was impressed by how it didn"t even budge… Well, I"d like to have my steel back from it if it did.
“Speaking of which, shouldn"t we get these stuff back into the warehouse? And also, I think Phillips and Centurion would also want to have a look.”
Ah… that"s right.
Quickly, I had Talos and the remaining ingots brought back into the warehouse.
The entry way for the warehouse isn"t as big as the room itself, Talos had to crouch itself through it.
Once inside, I had reached out into my pocket to grab the coins of ‘Phillips" and ‘Centurion" to come and take a look… and at that time, I noticed the coin that came from the stone golem cracked.
When taken a look, both Centurion and Phillips had been just as surprised as we were.
Though, it seems they prefer the golem"s new look compared to the inorganic one from before.
“Hohh! I can see at a glance this would be one of our new companion. It even has a strong presence about it.”
“So THIS is what we PREPARED for the stone GOLEM. It LOOKS like it would be PLENTY capable in SWEEPING up the MONSTERS. I ALSO like the DESIGN of it.”
Somehow, it seems they like it.
In addition, like what Centurion added, given how it doesn"t look like a monster at all, it"s looking to be an important member of our party.
It was a problem for us in the Gravel Field, everytime we were to encounter a different party group…
For example… imagining a situation where we would be at another town, it would be important to make my companions look as human-looking as possible.
Though, I didn"t really think that far ahead when I was making up Talos.
“However, COMPARING it to the STONE golem from before, it"s a little SMALLER.”
“It"s probably because of how steel is heavier than stone.”
“Even so, it doesn"t seem like the sort of appearance you could underestimate even with its size.”
Putting his hand onto his chin, Phillips seemed to already be wanting to see the extent of Talos" combat prowess.
Though, I can"t really test it out here in the warehouse, or anywhere else in town for that matter, so I told him we"d do it later.
I later faced over to Talos and returned it back into its coin, and like I thought, the coin looked to be metallic.
And so, since there"s something I wanted to talk about, I quickly made some stools for us to sit on using the surrounding ingots.
“So, what did you want to say?”
“Mm. To be honest, I think it"s time to leave outside of Comnes, but what about everyone else?”
“I THOUGHT we would be doing it EARLIER.”
“We already have the reward from the bounty.”
“Even the abandoned mine doesn"t feel as rewarding anymore.”
To begin with, the main reason we"ve been staying at the abandoned mine for a while was because of the iron golem. Now that that"s done, there isn"t really any need to be here anymore.
“So, WHERE will we be HEADING?”
Since Benedetta is the only person here who has a clearer view on the surrounding areas, I asked for her opinion.
“I had planned on going to the city of Olbia before…”
“Alright, Olbia it is then.”
In truth, I don"t really have much information on the nearby cities, so having someone else that at least knows about it is rea.s.suring… besides, she has much more acquaintances than I do when it comes to information like this.
Philips haven"t got the slightest clue on where we are, while Centurion, though he had inherited quite a potion of Mario"s knowledge, he"s still not quite sure about about the geographical location of the area back when he was a merchant… And I can"t really figure out which he had inherited and which had been lost.
The two skeletons also couldn"t really go out gathering information independently given with how they look.
“That Olbia city you speak of, what sort of place is it?”
In response to Phillips, Benedetta explains.
“The city is about 7 days south from Comnes if you were to take the main road. I hear it is the entryway for the southern coast, and unlike Comnes, it is a direct branch from the capital so the city is quite large…”
Another thing she added on from this is that as the scale of the guild is much larger than here, which would increase the rewards in bounty and monster exchanges, along with the increase in difficulty of the surrounding monsters.
By the end of Benedetta"s explanation, it seems like everyone"s decided on moving to Olbia next.
“Though, is there anything that still needs to be done here?”
I"m already completely finished with what I have to do here, though I still need to ask about everyone else.
“Before leaving here, I would like to give my report to my king by his grave. Would that be fine?”
“Since we would be CAMPING out, we should head over to the GUILD and see what other THINGS we should PREPARE right?”
“We should see if there are any escort requests that heads there too.”
Listening over on the conversation, seems like we"re all getting pretty excited on our journey out.
