"How are they?" Ailwin had Kaze and his army"s healers attending the wounded soldiers."Commander, we were able to treat their wounds but…" The chief healer spoke.
"What is it?" Ailwin had had a rough night and the last thing he wanted to hear was that something was wrong with his men.
"Sir, some of the men are experiencing symptoms that we can"t explain nor understand."
Ailwin was silent for a while, his face was unreadable to the people around him.
"Let me see."
The healers nodded their heads and showed him to three men lying on beds. One of them was Braeden.
The chief leader walk over to Braeden"s bed and pulled back the sheet covering his chest.
Dark spots covered his torso and his arms were swelling. To everyone else in the room it was a horrible sight but for Ailwin, he had saw symptoms far worst than Braeden"s; he remembered Lord Elre"s.
His infection….and so are the other two.
Ailwin glanced at the other two beds beside Braeden"s. One held the soldier who got a chuck of his leg bitten off and the other was a soldier who receives claw scratches on his arm from the monster.
"We don"t know what is happening to them…" The chief shook his head helplessly.
"I do." Ailwin didn"t bother to explain and just marched out of the room, leaving the healers confused.
"Commander….Commander….Prince Ailwin!" Kaze grabbed Ailwin"s arm when he took a wrong turn down the hallway.

Kaze immediately let Ailwin"s shoulder go at seeing his painful expression.
"What wrong?"
Ailwin was holding his side as he hunched over.
"Nothing….just a little bruised." Kaze didn"t ask further as he could see that Ailwin wasn"t willing the say anything more than that.
"Okay...but what was that in there?" Pointing towards the temporary healing center they had set up for the men.
Ailwin looked around the area before facing Kaze again, "Follow me."
Leading him towards the deceased Governor Kelim"s office, Ailwin opened the door and gestured for Kaze to take a seat. Pa.s.sing him the tablet he received from Lord Elre, he allowed Kaze to read it"s contents.
"This…"
"That"s not all…" Ailwin gave Kaze the photos Governor Kelim showed him yesterday morning.
"Are you saying that, General Gilwenys and those men have…"
"I believe so."
"...and there is no cure…"
"No, not that I know of- *sigh* I wish the panel board was working, I need to speak with Mika."
"You"ll speak to her soon enough." Kaze informed suddenly.
Ailwin looked at him, "What does that mean?"
"It means she on her way here." Kaze said off-handedly.
"What! No, she does not need to be here. Braeden is already like that," pointing to the photos in Kaze"s hands, "the last thing I want is for Mika to be here."
"Well it"s too late, she probably on her way as we speak. I was going to tell you when you messaged me but well, you know..." Kaze held up the photos in his hands.
"Couldn"t you tell her not to come." Ailwin snapped.
"Really?…. You really think she would have listened to me. Do you know who are we talking about here...Would you have been able to stop her?"
"…." Ailwin couldn"t confidently answer "yes" to that question.
Making his point, Kaze brought the conversation back to the current situation at hand.
"If Braeden and those two soldiers had contracted the virus then doesn"t that mean that the infection is spread by that monster you guys faced last night?"
"I believe so…" Ailwin came to the same conclusion.
"Then doesn"t that mean," Kaze gave at a pointed look at Ailwin"s waist where blood was seeping through his clothes, "you are also infected."
Ailwin knew Kaze was observant, but he didn"t think he would be recognized his wound was from that monster. He was trying to hide it as best as he could. He didn"t want his soldiers falling into disarray after finding out that both their General and Commander are in danger.
As long as one of them remains safe, the soldiers will stay in order and the King"s people won"t be able to run amok in his army.
"Possibly...but even if I am, that information can"t leave this room." Ailwin sat down heavily in the office"s chair.
"Then you should do a better job of hiding it, I can smell the blood on you." Kaze left his seat to help Ailwin remove his s.h.i.+rt.
The gash was just as deep as Braeden"s wounds, but there was only one slash compared to Braeden"s three. It ran from his belly b.u.t.ton, around his waist and behind his back, stopping before it reached his spine.
"d.a.m.n… I really would like to see that monster you guys fought." Ailwin stuck in a breath as Kaze began cleaning his wound.
"No, you wouldn"t-ugh!"
"There that should hold you until we can get a healer"s scanner to sew up that wound." Kaze patted Ailwin on the shoulder after helping him lean back in his chair.
"En...thanks."
"So this Lord Elre-"
*Squeak*
A sound came from outside the close door, catching Ailwin and Kaze off guard. Zooming to the door and ripping it open, Kaze checked the hallways for the source of the sound while Ailwin quickly put his s.h.i.+rt back on.
Kaze walked back into the room shaking his head, "Gone."
The hallway was silent and still, whoever was listening in on their conversation had escaped.
"...I should have put up a barrier."
"Whoever it was will show themselves eventually."
Ailwin nodded his head, he just prayed they heard nothing about Mikaela.
Teleporting to the roof of the government building, Ruven pulled out a sc.r.a.p of paper and stuff it into the pouch of the messenger bird waiting for him.
After making sure it flew off without trouble, he teleported himself back in the building but this time into his room.
It will soon be over and I will finally be able to leave this place.
Plopping down on his bed, Ruven was ready for a long sleep. Having spent all night making sure his babies attacked Prince Ailwin and his men, he was ready for a good rest.
