Adamar and his group left the Shadow Wolves army right before the sun hit the horizon."Which way do we go to get in the city? The soldiers are guarding the gate…" Someone in his group asked.
"Don"t worry I saw a door earlier that looks like it leads into the city." Adamar led his companions to the door Mika had opened and used earlier.
It"s opened….?Are the soldiers using this route?
Adamar had found the door yesterday, he knew the door was locked this morning when he checked.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.
"You opened the door a head of time, great!" Seeing that Adamar was properly prepared made the group believe in his leaders.h.i.+p and capablities.
Sensing the change in the mood of the group, Adamar didn"t want to admit that he didn"t unlock the door nor did he have a plan on how to open the metal door once they had arrived. He thought they could shoot at it with their guns until it opened.
"Y-yea, let"s go before they realize we are missing." Urging his companions inside the tunnel, the group, like Mika"s, used their wristbands to light the way.
Unlike Mika though, Adamar had no sense of direction. The twists and turns in this labyrinth of tunnels had the group walking in circles.
"Adamar, you sure you know where you are going!" They had been walking to close two hours and still they hadn"t entered the city.
"Yea, of course...it"s just a really long tunnel…" Adamar murmured.
If he didn"t lead them out of here soon, he knew he would have a mutiny on his hands or even worst they would be trapped in here forever.
In all different kinds of directions, he flashed his light all around the tunnel hoping to find something that would show him the correct course to take.
Unfortunately at seeing nothing but stone walls and ceiling, he closed his eyes and bowed he head in defeat.
There has to be away out...I don"t want to die here…
Opening his eyes, Adamar glanced into one of the tunnels ahead of them and sees something that looks like footprints in the dirt.
Did we go the way?….
On taking a closer look he realize that there were more and they were only going in one direction, unlike his group who circled back after reaching dead ends.
Thinking it was the soldiers who used this route to sneak in and out of the city secretly, Adamar chose to follow the footprints.
"This way everyone…" Picking up the pace, he followed Mika" group"s tracks out of the tunnel.
It took them four hours to get out of that maze of tunnels. The minute they were back outside, they all took biig deep breath of the night air.
While the group celebrating, Adamar kept following Mika"s track until they disappeared on the cobble streets.
Walking back to the joyous group, Adamar quickly put an end to their happy mood.
"Quiet! Remember the reason why we are here?" Adamar was confident that the footprints towards where Prince Ailwin is, regrettably they disappeared before showing him the rest of the way.
He was eager to meet with Lord Elre. He wasn"t sure if Prince Ailwin had already met with Lord Elre but even if he did he"ll be sure to carry out the King orders.
Moving in the same direction he last saw tracks lead off to, Adamar and his people marched towards the government building.
While Adamar"s group was slowly finding their way around the city, Ailwin and Kaze have come to the same realization as Mika.
That the city was empty of its people.
Ailwin had secretly sent Kaze and a group of soldiers out early in the morning to find any living citizens, yet they returned with having not found a single one. Even Lord Elre was gone.
"How can this be?" Ailwin spoke softly.
"I took the men to the north, south, east and west ends of the city and truly there was no one here but the people in this building. All the houses are vacant…"
"….but Braeden and I saw some citizens when we were arrived here." Ailwin remembered the few people him and Braeden had pa.s.sed on the first day here.
"You sure they were citizens?" Kaze didn"t know what the city was like when Ailwin and Braeden arrived here, so he could only report on what he found this morning after touring the area.
"What do you mean?"
"Sigh...look from the time you guys took this mission things have been off about it. I think the King is just toying with you."
Ailwin had felt the same way, unfortunately now they couldn"t throw away the mission even if he wanted to. Braeden and two of his men, and possible him are infected with whatever the h.e.l.l that thing was.
"We can"t leave now...not with Braeden and the men like this...." Ailwin could see what Kaze wanted to say.
"...but we don"t know how to treat them." Kaze pointed out.
*Knock* *Knock*
"Come in." Ailwin commanded.
One of the soldiers he sent out earlier with Kaze was at the door looking excited.
"What is it?"
"We found some citizens, sir." Moving aside, he allowed the group in the hallway to enter the room.
Ailwin and Kaze stood up eager to welcome the citizens.
However, their smiling faces immediately turned into frowns when the people who entered the room were all wearing masks.
What the....?
Ailwin was thinking that someone was playing a stupid joke on him until his eyes caught the familiar pet.i.te frame one of people in the group.
How the h.e.l.l did she get into the city!?
"How do you do, Prince Ailwin." Mikaela bowed before gesturing to herself, " I am Lady Minx and these are my servants."
The three people standing behind her all turn their heads simultaneously in Mika"s direction.
When did we agree to be your servants!?
