Downstairs, Mika felt weird. She wonder if she was supposed to leave hm alone when she knows he"s upset or was she supposed to stay there silently with him. She had too many problems going through her mind for her to decide the right course of action she should have taken.Okay...let"s just finish with this trip first then think on it later. *Sigh*...Sadly I got ninety-nine problems and Ailwin is one.
Knowing that the King"s people and Ruven were both taught and dead, it should be have been easy going forward, but Mika didn"t understand how she and Ailwin ended up in this awkward situation.
Pulling herself together, she knew they only needed to gather whatever they could from this house and cure Braeden before returning to the academy.
Picking up the discarded book, she continued reading where she left off.
It was a while before Ailwin came back down the stairs.
"I had my men return to the government building first... It"s pretty dark out so we should return as well." He was worried that there might be more monsters in the city.
He didn"t fully step into the room when he spoke to Mika. He stay in the doorway, but he eyes unintentionally kept straying to that dark corner.
Sensing that he wasn"t willing to leave her here by herself, nor stay here any longer, Mika gathered all the materials from the room that she wanted and followed him out.
Once they reached the back courtyard, she ran to the side where she left her big bag.
"What is that?" Ailwin stopped in his tracks when he saw her running off to the back of the shed and come back with a large bag.
"Things I"ve gathered from the other building." Mika didn"t want to tell him that a brain was in there, since she already seen how he reacted to the gla.s.s containers.
"Give it to me, I"ll carry it…" Ailwin held out his hand for the heavy looking bag.
"I"ll carry this... Can you carry these?" Mika held out the books she took from the bas.e.m.e.nt room.
He didn"t want to touch anything that was down in that room, but he couldn"t very well tell her that.
Sucking up his disgust, Ailwin took that books from Mika"s out stretch hands and began walking to his rover.
Once seated inside, he immediately sped away from the h.e.l.lhole called the Bizana clan residence.
If he can never step a foot in that place again, he would be thankful his whole life.
As they got further and further away from that bas.e.m.e.nt, Ailwin"s bearings proved. Mika on the other hand still felt like she was sitting on egg sh.e.l.ls. She didn"t know how to break the ice.
Recognizing they haven"t spoken to each other since they got in the car, Ailwin moves his hand over to tightly grasp hers.
"I didn"t mean to leave the bas.e.m.e.nt like that."
Comforted by the touch of his hand on hers, Mika smiled his way, shaking her head, "It"s okay."
"No...I…" I couldn"t stand the sight of the King"s crimes before my eyes.
He didn"t know how to express himself, I didn"t want to come off as pathetic in her eyes.
Mika saw that Ailwin was having trouble telling her what was bothering him so much.
"It must be the stress of everything, right?" She gave him an out he was looking for.
"Yeah, it"s the stress….The faster we leave this city, the better it will be for everyone…" Giving her hand another squeeze, they continue on in silence towards the government building.
By the time they had reach the building, it was already nightfall.
There were soldiers stationed at the gate waiting for Ailwin return.
"Commander! You"re back!" A young healer in his army rushed to the rover.
Thinking something must have happen to Braeden, Ailwin jumped out of the car, meeting the young healer halfway.
Mika watched as they spoke in hushed tones with one another as she gathered her things from the rover before walking over to join them.
Seeing her struggle with the several books and the heavy bag, Ailwin went to her grabbed both from her hands, "They said the soldiers and Braeden are returning to normal. Was it your doing?"
"En…" Mika gave a simple reply as she followed Ailwin and the healer inside.
Upon reaching the new healers" center, they heard shouts from many voices coming from inside. Fearing that Braeden was uncontrollably attacking the guards again, Ailwin hurried inside.
When he entered he found Braeden, along with the two soldiers who were infected with him, sitting up in their cots with the healers and guards surrounding them.
There was grins on everyone"s faces as they talked loudly amongst themselves.
"General Gilwenys…?" Ailwin walked towards Braeden"s cot studying him from head to toe.
The guards and the healers had told him that Ailwin was okay but seeing him in the flesh, walking and talking to with no problems, finally made Braeden feel at ease.
"Commander…" Braeden gave Ailwin a bright smile.
Mika, who entered the room behind Ailwin, saw the two giving heart eyes to each other and could help wonder if she was really Ailwin"s fiancée or was Braeden with the way they were acting.
"Are they all cured?" Ailwin was about to turn to ask Mika, but stop himself in time and directed his question to the head healer.
"Yes, Prince Ailwin… Truthfully, I can"t explain it."
"Oh, come on healer...it"s obvious because I keep my body healthy and in shape." Braeden boost.
"Tch!" If you were as healthy as you say you are, I wouldn"t have had to spend so many hours on making a vaccine.
The sound of Mika contempt for Braeden"s words were heard by everyone.
"Commander, who is this?" Braeden pointed at Mika"s masked face.
"This is Lady Minx. She has provided her services and people to us." Ailwin didn"t want to say Mika"s true ident.i.ty to Braeden in front of this many people.
Though he trusted his men, one can never know. Better to play it safe than sorry.
