"Um... Rio, did you just say you were one hundred and twelve years old?" I asked my eyes were wide in shock. She just gave me a nod to confirm what I asked. "What is the form of time here in your world." I asked just in case maybe the years were a lot shorter than Earth"s.

"Let"s see days are roughly thirty hours and one month is about forty days. There are fourteen months in a year. If you are wondering why I look so young compared to you. It is that I come from a long-lived race among the Corians. We are called Lafinas. My race can live up to five hundred years. Though most of the elders were killed during the Great Culling. Oh! The Great Culling was the period in which the beings hunted the Corians to almost extinction. There is likely only a few races left in all of Cora." Rio had a sad expression as she paused a moment like she was lost in thought before she continued. "The Norilans, Are a race that are like you. They age at a quicker rate than other races. They live for only fifty to sixty years. But I do not know if there are any of them around anymore. " Rio explained. "Does your world not have long-lived races?" Rio asked.

I realized this entire time that we were talking that she was standing out in the wind getting blasted by sand. So I reached out and grabbed her hand and pulled her behind the pillar with me. She was surprised at first but quickly realized why I did it and gave me a small smile as we both sat down behind the pillar and continued talking.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click for visiting.

"That should be better. Sorry, I should have realized sooner that you were getting battered by the wind. And to answer your question the average life span of my race is around seventy to eighty years some live to be over one hundred though. There is also only one sentient race on my planet, which we call ourselves humans. And there are tons of us, billions upon billions." Rio looked very excited and interested in what I had to say.

Rio was hanging on my every word. I told her that I had found a book and had tried drawing the magic circle in it and that one thing led to another and I ended up here. I also told her I have no idea how or what I had done to begin to understand her. I explained that I had just lost control of my body as I drew out the small magic circle on the ground before I regained control of my body. Rio shrugged and told me that she couldn"t give me any details on what happened either.

"It is very strange about how you came to be here but, you must have been sent here for some reason. What that reason is I do not know. I will say this though. It must have been some kind of fate for the two of us to meet. We have only known each other for a short period of time but I feel we get along just nicely. So for as long as you would like you are free to stay with me until you decide you need to move on." Rio looked into my eyes and gave me a huge smile.

Tears started welling up into my eyes. The realization of everything had finally hit me. I was calm all this time but now that I understood that I did not know how to get home and had no place to go really started to set in. Her words alone gave me a sigh of relief that made all the emotions I was trying to hold back come forward and explode. I started crying nonstop. Rio just pulled me close and held me in her arms. I may have been composed but I was still seventeen after all. Rio just sat there with me holding me while rubbing my back lightly until I finally gathered myself back up.

"I am very sorry about that, thank you, Rio. I will accept your kind offer. Thank you so much." Rubbing my eyes I gave her a big smile and she smiled back.

"It"s no problem at all Sora." As if on cue my stomach made a loud grumbling sound. "Well, I guess we should head back to where I live then. So we don"t get yelled at by your stomach." Rio let out a small giggle.

My face cheeks turned a light shade of pink as I nodded in agreement. Rio took off her scarf and handed it to me. I looked at her confused till she motioned me to use it to cover my nose. "Wrap it around your face to keep the sand out. I wish I had some extra gear but this is all I have on me. this will be a bit tough with how your dressed." She was right I had shorts and a t-shirt on. and a pair of sneakers with no socks. At least I had shoes on."It will take one hour to reach my house and with the way the winds and sand are in these parts, it will seem like a lot longer. Also hold my hand and do not let go. I do not want to lose you by accident."Rio took my hand in hers and we set off down the side of the plateau.

I did not realize it while I was up on the platform but the side of the cliff we were on had a set of stairs leading down the side of it. Well, what was left of the stairs that is. They looked to me like they would fall apart at any time. But nonetheless, they did hold up to our weight as we made our way to the bottom. Once we were at the bottom of the steps I was met with a vast outstretched desert in front of me. The hot dry air did us no justice as we started walking out into the hot blazing sun. The wind whipped and stung my legs as sand pelted me as we walked. Rio was trying her best to cover me as much as she could. At one point she even stopped and wrapped her jacket around my waist to try to provide me with some kind of protection.

It was about an hour before we finally reached our destination just as Rio had said. We stopped at a large rock formation that had a large door embedded into it that seemed to be made out of metal. Rio walked up to the side of the door and waved her hand over what looked to be some kind of panel. There was a slight pause before you could hear a loud noise as the doors parted and revealed a large cave with a set of stairs leading down.
