A shiver ran down Mai"s spine as she heard the words that the man had whispered to her. Not simply because someone besides her father had figured out that she was in this room. No something much darker had caused her racing heart as she sat there frozen to the floor."Zumi, don"t you remember me?" The man called out softly.
This only intensified Mai"s fear of the man. Each word the came out of his mouth sent shivers throughout her body. Mai almost let out a terrified moan as he moved even closer to her position. "Was this the man that did it?" Mai asked herself at the reaction that her body had to this man.
"I can see that you don"t want to come out and play tonight… I shall be seeing you tomorrow Zumi, now that I know you are here." The man said with a light smirk as he turned away locking the door behind him.
"Holy f.u.c.k" Mai thought as she sat there in a puddle of her own fear. "That"s the man that did it… the man who killed her. The main reason why I am in this world."
His words concerned her more than anything else "he will come back tomorrow… haha good luck with that" Mai thought to herself. She had no idea why the original bodies owner had let that man come anywhere near her but it probably wasn"t from anything good. "I need to ask my father more about him and get the h.e.l.l out of this room before others discover I am here… or worse he comes back" Mai thought.
Mai may mentally be afraid of the Emperor but he doesn"t hold the same type of fear as someone who had already technically killed her. Mai tossed and turned the rest of the night startled awake at every sound that could be heard echoing through the halls.
Just as exhaustion was about to force Mai into a mindless sleep a jitter on the door lock forced her into a alert state of mind. She stood no chance if she simply let the man in and take her away, glancing around the room she cursed at the lack of items that could be used to hit someone on the head with.
After finding what appeared to be a loose stone on the ground Mai walked towards the door hiding behind the s.p.a.ce where the door would open lifting the stone above her head. What felt like hours pa.s.sing was near seconds as the door slowly opened.
A man had let himself in and looked around the room looking for her. Mai let out a small battle cry as she tried smashing the rock on top of the man"s head. Unfortunately Mai didn"t have enough strength to completely knock out the man as the rock bounced off of his head with a thump.
"Dammit no" Mai thought to herself as she backed away before the man could grab her. Mai decided that it would be better to be seen running around the manor than to be stuck another second alone with this man.
"Zumi, ouch what are you doing" the man cried out in pain.
It took awhile for Mai to recognize that voice as her fathers. "Father?" Mai asked in a small voice letting her body come down from the high of almost getting kidnapped.
"Zumi, are you okay?" Qin Junjie asked while hugging Mai deep in his arms. Even with the limited amount of light that was currently available he could see the dark circles and terror filled face that had been present not to long again.
"No…he…. He came… He found me" Mai tried to tell her father but nothing was coming out in full sentences.
"Who came Zumi?" Qin Junjie asked with a concerned look. Qin Junjie glanced around the room as if it would offer clues to who would dare scare his daughter this bad.
"The one… the man… the guard that took me away last time" Mai rattled out in great difficulty. Her body shivered in Qin Junjie arms as the memory of how he made her feel last night returned.
"Who" Qin Junjie demanded. He was enraged that not only had someone actually taken his precious daughter but it was someone from his own manor.
"I don"t know, I can"t remember. It was a guard from here he called me Zumi" Mai whispered out as she started to weep in Qin Junjie arms.
"Shhh everything will be okay, your leaving tomorrow remember. You will never have to see him again I will make sure of it" Qin Junjie said in a attempt to rea.s.sure Mai that everything would be okay.
"He said that he would come back today" Mai cried out between sobs.
Qin Junjie went motionless as the anger inside of him almost boiled over. However, he didn"t wish to scare Mai already more than she already was. He honestly had no idea what this man had done to his daughter to cause her to be so weak. Qin Junjie swore to himself that if he ever found out which guard it was he would kill him instantaneously.
"Thank G.o.d I checked on her this morning because of the imperial guards that had caused problems throughout the manor last night" Qin Junjie thought to himself.
"You need to stay somewhere else for tonight" Qin Junjie said secretly glad that there was a plan to get his daughter out of this city and away from all the crazy people that resided inside of it even if it meant that he would probably never see her again.
Mai shook her head in complete agreement.
"Where can he not go into" Mai whispered quietly as she slowly got her breathing back under control. Realizing that she wasn"t going to be here when the man returned almost put a small smile on her face.
"My room is the only location. However, to get there we would have to cross a lot of guards" Qin Junjie said while he was thinking of a better solution.
"Couldn"t I just leave today?" Mai asked in hope.
"No the plan isn"t ready yet" Qin Junjie said quietly not wanted to crush the look of hope on her face.
"Come where going to take you to a inn of sorts" Qin Junjie declared as he ushered Mai towards the door
