Hunting For A Husband In A Vampire Apocalypse

Gazing at the black ceiling, her eyes grow dark . How low could she go to get a husband when she was a human? When she felt disgusted that the man groped her breast, she should have smacked his face . Instead, she lowered her head and let him snicker . What about that man who told her that he would marry her after sleeping with her first? He wanted to take the car for a test drive before buying it .  

Why was she not loved by someone back then? She didn"t stand out among the crowd . She wasn"t beautiful or confident . She wasn"t bold or cheerful . She was Huang Qiuyan -- the shadow of her brother, the shameful daughter of her father, the worry of her mother, and the object of laughter for her sister-in-law .

Was it that difficult to love her as a woman? Was it that difficult to accept her the way she was? She had to pretend so much . She tried to be the woman that others wanted . It all came to naught . The world is in chaos . She is left with nothing .

After turning into a vampire, she"s stuck with a bond . Even now, the man wants her because of a bond . The feelings that they feel are nothing but something created forcefully because of a magical bond that wants to act as a matchmaker . Is she that bad? Why must there be a bond between them She"s ashamed of herself . It"s nothing better than her human life . There"s probably no one in the world who wants her for who she is .  

A dull ache arises from the depth of her soul, rendering her numb to her surroundings . She can"t hear Xiao Chun Dan"s chatters or the sound of her breathing . The vision slowly turns dark . She closes her eyes, sinking into . . .

In Fu Mian"s chamber, Fu Sheng is sitting beside his daughter . He has his cold palm on her burning forehead . Her body is reacting to the mental and physical hards.h.i.+ps that she went through since the hunter got his hands on her . He has fed the medicines that Lei made for her . The human body is fragile and Fu Man"s body is weaker than usual humans because of the pa.s.sive magic in her blood that can kill any vampire .

He"s waiting for the fever to subside . All of a sudden, the bond thickens with dusk . Instinctively, he reaches out to her, finding her falling into a downward spiral . He grasps on to her, pulling her up . He nudges her . She"s not coming to her senses, slipping further into the shade .  

The colossal force hammers the inside of her skull and jolts her awake . She shrieks in pain and clutches her forehead . Her face contorts when a light mocking slap comes through the bond . Xiao Chun Dan runs to her side . "What happened to you, Elder Sister?"

"That ancient vampire!" It hurts so much . Did he use a magical hammer inside her head? She writhes in pain on the floor . "I want this stupid bond gone as soon as possible . "

Tsk! That king only knows how to use it to his advantage .  

"I am looking into it . " Xiao Chun Dan releases an exasperated sigh . Though there are many missions, he has to take the ones that she can do it with her current abilities .  

Huang Qiuyan sits up . She glowers at the door . "I am going to teach him a lesson . "

"Elder Sister, I don"t think that you are capable of messing with him . " Xiao Chun Dan believes in the data . She"s nothing when it comes to the vampire king . He"s sure that Huang Qiuyan would have died a thousand times if she wasn"t the true mate of the vampire king .  

There"s a knock on the door . She marches toward the door . It must be that king . She"s going to slap him . She pulls the door open . Huang Qiuyan is stunned to see another pureblood . Dressed in a navy blue s.h.i.+rt and faded blue jeans, he looks like he"s in his early twenties with dark hair and pure hazel eyes . He is a little taller than her . He has a perfectly symmetrical face, the kind that brings luck . The air around him screams that he"s a pure soul .

"Lady Huang, I am Jin . Brother Aiken sent me to become your mentor . " Jin lowers his head a little . "I will teach you magic, the way of vampires, how to defend yourself, and history of the vampires . Before we start, I have a request . "

She eyes him suspiciously, "What is your request?"

Jin grins at her . "Please be my friend, my lady . "

Though he"s smiling, his heart is nervous . He has never mentored anyone . She"s the king"s true mate . He has to do a good job .  

"I don"t just . . . " befriend anyone . Huang Qiuyan trails off when she notices that his eyes are a little misty . The boy is tenser than she is . Is he going to cry? She gives in . "Okay, okay, we are friends . " 

Just don"t cry!

Jin relaxes his shoulders . He is more at ease if they are friends . Rather than becoming a stiff mentor, he would rather be a friend who guides her to the vampire"s world . "My lady, thank you for accepting me as your friend . " 

Odd! Huang Qiuyan wonders if he is really a vampire . Aren"t vampires supposed to be scary? 

"If we are friends, you should call me by my name . " Huang Qiuyan has lost count how many times she has told these vampires to call her by her name . "My name is Huang Qiuyan . "

"I can"t do that . " Jin shakes his head . "You are King"s true mate . You are our queen . We can"t say your name . "

She rolls her eyes . He wants to be her friend, but he won"t act like one . "I am no longer your queen . I rejected him formally . "

Jin"s puppy eyes bulge out . "What?" 

Is that why the king has a foul mood?
