RUMBLE!RUMBLE!
Sisley rubbed her palms together as she occasionally breathed against it to keep it warm. She waited inside the cla.s.sroom for Daniel to finish his club activities so they could go home together. After all, she had already finished her own club activities and was just waiting patiently for Daniel to pick her up.
At the thought of Daniel, Sisley"s cheeks puffed a cute blush of red.
She couldn"t help but giggle at the memory of her and Daniel a few days ago.
It was no longer a secret that she and Daniel had gotten together after the inter-school festival.
Some cried and some cursed while some cheered them on.
The confession was not anything sweet nor romantic like the ones in the movies and novels.
At that day where Daniel had invited Sisley for a date and had the unfortunate chance of meeting Evangeline along the way, Sisley admitted that her mood got worse and she too could feel that Daniel was acting a bit strange.
But thanks to her cheerfulness, she tried to cheer Daniel up without mentioning Evangeline anymore. And true enough, Daniel"s mood turned for the better. They no longer resumed their date on that mall and decided to visit a park instead. Even though they didn"t have much topic to talk about, just being with each other"s presence filled them with warmth and comfort and possibly… love.
It was not until dark that Daniel decided to escort Sisley home.
In truth, Sisley was already contented to be with Daniel that day. She didn"t dare to ask for more. However, just as Sisley turned around to go inside her house, Daniel asked her to be his girlfriend.
There were no roses nor cheesy lines. But just those sentence sent her in a wild frenzy of joy that she immediately burst into tears as she ran towards Daniel"s embraced.
She didn"t know how much time went by that they were like that, but they found that they were already staring at each other as their lips found one another.
PUFF!
Sisley"s face glowed redder at the memory as she placed her palms against her cheeks.
She raised her head towards the sky as her eyes turned misty while her appearance turned dreamy. Her parted lips occasionally puffed out a foggy breath from the cold.
Daniel….
----?----
Daniel hurriedly changed his clothes after taking a quick shower.
After adequately dressed, he hurriedly stormed out of the gym with his things, not minding the girls giggling and flirtatious gazes thrown at him.
His mind was entirely focused on Sisley, and a smile crept on his tired face, rejuvenating his entire body.
He was about to run outside only to be stopped with the thunderous gushing rain.
s.h.i.t!
Daniel groaned in annoyance to be suddenly stopped by the rain. He hurriedly ransacked his backpack for his umbrella.
Even without the parasol being adequately opened, Daniel stormed the rain and hurriedly went towards the business management building.
There were not many students remained inside the school premises since it was already two hours past the end of cla.s.s.
Daniel impatiently climbed the stairs towards the second floor as if being chased by a serial killer.
The longing and excitement to see Sisley and going home with her for the first time since they had gotten together made his heart beat in both nervousness and bliss.
The second-year cla.s.s A"s door slid open, and Daniel zeroed on his girlfriend"s twinkling eyes, staring at him in uncontained happiness.
Suddenly, the room turned bright and warm amidst the cold autumn air in contrast to the gloomy atmosphere outside.
For a moment, Daniel was awestruck at Sisley"s round shinning hazelnut eyes like he saw a rainbow amidst the storm.
He didn"t even know that his legs started to move towards her direction while Sisley was rooted to the spot, mesmerized at the approaching handsome man.
Only….
Daniel abruptly stopped as his mood suddenly plummeted.
Evangeline was seated at her seat, looking bored at the gloomy scenery outside, as usual.
What is she still doing here?
Daniel couldn"t help but think of the reasons.
It was rare—no! It was the first time that Daniel saw Evangeline still inside the cla.s.sroom after the cla.s.s had ended. Mostly, she would leave at the first sound of the bell.
Sisley too was reminded that Evangeline still hadn"t left. Because of her focus being occupied by Daniel and that there were still a few cla.s.smates around, she didn"t mind Evangeline one bit.
But now that Daniel was staring at the gorgeous woman, she was forced to acknowledge the other girl"s presence.
Sisley didn"t like the look on Daniel"s face upon watching Evangeline. It was not a lingering affection nor anything romantic. It was just pure curiosity.
But even so.
Sisley didn"t want Daniel to have any more dealings with his ex.
"Daniel…"
Sisley softly called out which brought the man"s attention towards her.
For a moment, Daniel was in a dazed, but then his lips curved into a gentle smile.
Instantly, Sisley felt rea.s.sured.
She stood up and went to Daniel"s side. Daniel immediately grabbed Sisley"s bag which the latter handed freely to him.
"Sorry, did you wait long?" Daniel"s eyes softened at the sight of his adorable girlfriend. It made him felt happy that someone was waiting for him for two hours.
Evangeline never did.
Sisley shook her head and then beamed. "Should we go?"
Daniel nodded and ushered Sisley first towards the door. He didn"t dare to hold Sisley"s hand at the presence of Evangeline. After all, all said and done, she was still his ex-girlfriend for a year and still respected her.
Besides, he still felt guilty towards her.
But as soon as the door closed, Daniel didn"t waste a second and grabbed Sisley hand as he gently squeezed it.
Daniel was filled with warmth at the feeling of Sisley"s soft somewhat cold fingers. It was proof that the girl waited for him for so long.
Without a second thought, Daniel removed his jacket and placed it on Sisley"s shoulders.
Sisley"s cheeks blushed an adorable shade of red as she lowered her head in shyness and joy while Daniel"s hand tucked her hair behind her ear.
At the sight of this, Daniel"s eyes turned heated as his body flared.
She"s so cute!
As the couple walked hand in hand inside the slightly deserted pathway, students occasionally glanced at their direction. Some envious. Some jealous while some praised, but for the two girls that were gossiping just outside the second year cla.s.s A"s room, they were lost in a heart-thumping conversation.
"She"s still there?"
"Yes."
"This is perfect. Who would have guess that a day will come that she will stay behind after cla.s.s? Don"t forget to act natural."
"Is it okay? I don"t think we should do this." One of the girls hesitated as she darted her eyes left and right.
"Don"t chicken out now! Besides, what can she do? She was abandoned by her father and now Daniel, her greatest backer. And all the money that her father had given her were all gone. Without a penny in her name, she prost.i.tuted herself to sustain her extravagant lifestyle. Do you think that someone such as her will be a threat to us at her current state?"
"….."
"Don"t think about needless things. This is a perfect opportunity for us to extract our revenge!" Who said that b.i.t.c.h could act so arrogant and overbearing just because she has a pretty face? Stealing all the attention left and right. This is her punishment! Hmp!
The other girl looked hesitant for a moment, but then she nodded, and both girls breathed in a mouthful of air before they entered the room.
----?----
Evangeline continued to gaze outside the window. Her eyes flickered absentmindedly.
She too didn"t know why she stayed behind after cla.s.s.
However, in the deepest corners of her mind, she knew the answer. She just didn"t want to acknowledge it.
Clutching the handkerchief tightly in hand while her other hand held her chin, she continued to look at the gloomy scenery outside, listening to the pitter patter of the rain as the thunderous rumble occasionally lighted the dark, ominous dense clouds.
Her head would sometimes dart towards the door as if she was expecting someone, but it would immediately shift back towards the window as if she never glanced at the door in the first place.
She was now the only person left in the room.
The door suddenly slid open, and Evangeline"s eyes quickly took a peek, only to be disappointed when two girls went inside.
It was her cla.s.smates who she rarely communicated with despite being cla.s.smates for almost two years.
"Evangeline, the P.E teacher asked us to inform you to meet her in the storage room." The girl with a ponytail was the first one to break the silence.
Evangeline didn"t respond while she sized the two girls up and down.
A bead of sweat formed on the two girls faces while they tried their best to act natural and nonchalant.
"Why?" Evangeline leisurely asked.
"How do I know? Asked her yourself! We are just relaying you the message." The girl with short hair snorted.
"Maybe because she"s going to punish you for what happened in the school sports fest?" The girl with the ponytail laughed mockingly.
The two girls then walked out of the room. They didn"t want to give anything away. The more aloof and casual they were and the less information they provided, the more believable they would seem.
Evangeline watched the two women"s retreating figure with a raised eyebrow.
It was not like she didn"t know what the two girls were thinking about. But of course, she was not also confident that she was right. After all, the P.E teacher still hadn"t forgiven her from forfeiting her every match which landed their course fourth from the last.
Evangeline lazily stood up. She made a sidelong glance at the seat behind her. Her eyes locked on that tattered backpack on that chair.
Eric still hadn"t returned from being called by the teachers to help them out with something.
What kind of helping out is it that it would take two hours?
She frowned before walking out of the room.
When Evangeline was out of sight, the two girls immediately came back as they sneakily ran towards Evangeline"s desk.
The two girls glanced at each other with a smirk and glinting evil eyes before they grabbed Evangeline"s bag and darted off.
