Chapter 262: Murderous Intent
On the seventh day of Chinese New Year, Chen Chen got ready to take a train to Shangdu. He was going to visit the head office and pop in to see Professor w.a.n.g Xi while he was there.
Chen Chen bade farewell to his parents and walked out of the door.
However, just after leaving the house, Chen Chen received a message from Little X via his Bluetooth headset.
“Sir G.o.dfather, the T-Knights of the defense team have discovered two international spies outside your door who are trying to get in touch with you!”
“Spies?”
Chen Chen inquired softly, “Where are they from?”
“The East China Sea Continent.”
Little X replied, “I can trace their ident.i.ties through their communication records. They both seem to be members of the Handu Chamber of Commerce in Mainland China, but they’ve been frequently in touch with the contact person of the secret department in the East China Sea Continent. It can be determined that they’re spies from the East China Sea.
“But don’t worry, these two people don’t mean you any harm. Their mission seems to be to persuade you.”
Chen Chen nodded.
When he walked out of the community gate, Chen Chen saw two men in neat suits standing outside the gate. When the two of them saw Chen Chen, their eyes suddenly lit up and they smiled enthusiastically. “Mr. Chen Chen, we’ve been waiting for you for a long time!”
“I don’t seem to know you two. You are...”
Chen Chen pretended to look mystified.
“I apologize. We’re employees of Huaguang Credit Company!”
The man at their head smiled and said, “My name is Wei Changmin and my colleague next to me is named Li Ren. We at Huaguang Credit want to discuss some company affairs with you. Do you have some time?”
As he spoke, the man took out a business card and handed it to Chen Chen, looking extremely humble.
“I don’t have much time these days. Please head back.”
Chen Chen waved his hand.
“Mr. Chen Chen, it’ll only take a while. We won’t hold you up for too long...”
The man named Wei Changmin tried to persuade Chen Chen.
Since Chen Chen knew their ident.i.ties, he could not be bothered with them. He immediately walked past them and left in a taxi.
As they watched the taxi pulling away, the two of them dropped their smiles. The man named Li Ren could not help frowning. “Wu Tengjun, sure enough, we failed.”
“It’s to be expected.”
The other man waved one hand and solemnly said, “He’s able to become the world’s first genius, who has developed the Blacklight virus vaccine and has multiple patents in the field of cutting-edge medicine. Of course, such a formidable man has his pride but we needn’t be too discouraged. We must trust that faith can move mountains!”
“Wu Tengjun, you’re right!”
After this brief exchange, the two men turned to leave.
Of course, these two people did not know that they had already been spotted when they approached the community where Chen Chen’s parents lived. Their ident.i.ties had also been exposed long ago.
Back then, for safety reasons, Chen Chen had sent five special forces soldiers under Cheng Cao to protect his parents. He gave each of them a GS Combat Suit, a cloaking device, and a memory eraser.
Of these five people, two were acting as chauffeurs in Chen Chen’s parents’ home while the remaining three were secretly providing protection in shifts.
At the end of last year, Chen Chen once again sent a Black Knight force of five men and five women, expanding the secret security team to fifteen members.
Chen Chen had even bought the houses of his neighbors without his parents knowing. Now, these villas looked just ordinary residences on the surface, but they had long been managed stringently by Chen Chen. Any strangers would have nowhere to hide in this area.
Soon, Chen Chen reached the train station.
As it was the New Year, it was the peak period for returning home at this time. There was a turbulent flow of people in the station. At first glance, the crowd was dense with almost no end in sight.
Chen Chen chose the train because there was a direct route from Handu to Shangdu, traversing more than 2,000 kilometers in just five hours. Although it would take longer, it was more flexible and safer than flying.
However, just as Chen Chen had squeezed into the crowd of hundreds and entered the station, Little X suddenly notified him, “Sir G.o.dfather, your second uncle has arrived at your parents’ house...”
Chen Chen frowned. “Why are they there?”
“It appears that they’ve come to borrow money and are arguing with your parents...” Little X said feebly.
“Ask Lil w.a.n.g and the rest to watch closely. Don’t let my parents get hurt,” Chen Chen exhorted.
Lil w.a.n.g was one of Chen Chen’s bodyguards a.s.signed to his parents. By now, he had been with Chen Chen’s parents for nearly three years and had fully won their trust.
However, before Chen Chen had finished speaking, Little X suddenly cried out, “Oh no, Sir G.o.dfather, your mother has been pushed by your second aunt and has fallen to the ground and pa.s.sed out!”
At this time, Chen Chen was entering the ticket gate. After hearing these words, his expression suddenly shifted and he turned back and squeezed his way out.
“Is my mother badly hurt? What about Lil w.a.n.g and the rest, are they just sitting around being useless trash?”
Chen Chen asked malevolently as he rushed out of the station.
“She has no wounds. The bodyguards are taking your parents to the hospital...”
It was the first time Little X was hearing Chen Chen sound so anxious and it quickly explained, “Sorry, during the quarrel, the two bodyguards were sent away by your father. He said that the bodyguards shouldn’t interfere with family matters. Your father has done this each time he quarreled with your second uncle...”
“That b*stard!”
Chen Chen’s face turned even darker and he did not know if he was cursing his second uncle or someone else. He quickly stopped a taxi and hurried to the hospital to which his mother was taken.
Half an hour later, when Chen Chen walked into the ward, he immediately saw his mother on the bed, still conscious, and several people around the bed.
“Mom, are you okay?”
Chen Chen breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that there was nothing wrong with his mother except for her pale complexion.
“I’m fine, just feeling a little weak.”
Chen Chen’s mother shook her head and said with gratification, “Little Chen, hadn’t you gone to Shangdu? Why did you come back?”
“Lil w.a.n.g informed me.”
Chen Chen glanced coldly at his second uncle and his wife who were standing aside.
“It’s a misunderstanding, just a misunderstanding!”
Chen Chen’s father hastened to explain, “Just now, your second uncle and aunt visited us. Out of the blue, your mom suddenly fainted. Thank goodness it was nothing. Little Chen, just take care of your own business. Your second uncle and aunt are here with me to take care of...”
“Take care?”
Chen Chen glared steadily at them. “Pushing someone over is taking care of them?”
“Your mother pushed me too.”
His second aunt suddenly screeched, “She also pushed me then. We both collided. Who would know that your mother would be this feeble? Why am I the one to blame?”
“Okay, okay. Let’s not talk about it.” Chen Chen’s father tried to patch things over.
“Dad, you’re still on their side?”
Chen Chen took a deep breath and pointed at the two of them. “Both of you get out right now. If you don’t get out of here within ten seconds, I won’t...”
“Slap!”
However, before he could finish, Chen Chen felt a stinging pain on his cheek. It was his father who had slapped him.
“Watch how you talk to your aunt!”
Chen Chen’s father scolded angrily.
Chen Chen was taken aback for a moment, then his expression turned completely gloomy. He sat down on the empty hospital bed next to him, wordlessly cracking his neck.
The entire place fell silent for a while.
When Chen Chen’s father noticed Chen Chen’s behavior, he felt a pang of remorse for some reason. He turned and said to the other two, “As for the money, I’ll think about it. You may leave now!”
The aunt gave a cold snort at this and walked out of the ward with Chen Chen’s second uncle.
When the two had left, Chen Chen’s father sighed and sat beside Chen Chen, advising him earnestly, “Little Chen, although you’ve made it big outside, those two are still your second uncle and aunt. No matter what, you must maintain the most basic respect for your elders, got it?”
“That’s about to change...”
When Chen Chen heard this, an inexplicable smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he mumbled.
“What did you say?”
Chen Chen’s father did not quite catch his words.
“Nothing.”
Chen Chen cracked his neck again, stood up, and exited the ward.
“Little Chen, Little Chen! This kid...”
No matter how his father yelled behind him, Chen Chen paid him no mind.
