Chapter 201 - Song of an Angel
A beautiful music blending with a sorrowful voice but at the same time calming to the soul, echoed inside the quiet room. It was almost dawn and just as the song pierces through one"s soul, the moonlight was also piercing through the gla.s.s windows.
Sei at that moment, was immediately frozen upon hearing the melody as though a thunder bolt just struck him. It brought back memories for that piece was the last song his mother played for him years ago. Causing him to slowly clenched his fist tight before he fiercely covered his ears with his palms, trying to shut all the memories behind.
He doesn"t want to hear that song, however, no matter how much he tried, the sound still penetrated to him. The soft gentle song was like a voice coming from an angel desperately trying to reach his seemingly irredeemable soul. Making Sei to relent and eventually bend his body as he b.u.mped his head on the table. His hands were still covering his ears but the more he struggles to mute it, the more the sound seemed to be getting louder. Slowly piercing the almost impenetrable darkness around him.
Minutes pa.s.sed but the song continued. As though the person playing it was telling him that the song will never stop unless he relents.
"Zaki, make it stop!" He then ordered with his horrifying tone. However, the boy behind him didn"t make a single movement, like he was transfixed. Leaving Sei without any choice but to give in.
His hands which were covering his ears then slowly fell. And the moment he finally heard the song clear enough, he stood with his fist clenched so tight.
He began to move his feet and slowly followed the source of the sound. While Zaki ,upon seeing Sei moved, quietly followed him as though he was literally his shadow.
As they walked, the sorrowful sound just kept piercing through him more deeply. Until finally, they were lead in front of the school"s music room. The door was widely opened and the moment Sei saw the person playing the piano he just froze again in place.
A girl seemingly two or three years younger than him, wearing a white patient dress was seated on the piano stool, playing incessantly and she looks as though she was glowing. An existence that seemed to be out of place from the world enveloped with darkness.
Sei could only see the side of her face and he was taken aback to witness her crying quietly, for some unknown reason, something just seemed to tug his heart. The moonlight streaming across her face made her tears appeared as though they were endless falling crystals.
That moment, the picture of the girl quietly crying in front of him and the sorrowful song she was playing made his dead heart seemed to have resurrected. And the next seconds, tears started to quietly fall from his eyes as he kept staring at the girl. The sound just kept ripping through the deepest abyss within him.
Then Sei slowly fell unto his knees and he just began tugging his own hair.
He cried. The tears that were barren from his eyes for many years seemed to just flowed out that he couldn"t stop it anymore. He hugged himself as he continued crying quietly. His own nails pierced through his flesh and blood dripped on the floor.
Moments went by, the sound of the piano continued to occupy the room. The girl and Sei"s tears continued to flow touching their hearts as if both were ripping apart. As if she was crying for him as well. It was as though she was playing for him to tell him to just cry it all out until nothing is left anymore.
The tears of the girl, the cry of the piano… everything made his heart felt like exploding. The music was like the song of an angel redeeming him out from the deepest abyss of h.e.l.l.
And as time went by, the song filled with agony and sorrow miraculously comforted him as if someone was actually gently caressing his head. As if someone was whispering him to raise his head once again. And strangely, the song started soothing his heart while a little glint of hope re-appeared across his eyes. Causing Sei to finally raise his head again.
With clenched fist, Sei stood up as the song was about to end. He ran back to the computer room while the piano was still playing.
The moment Sei reached the computer, he immediately cancelled the launching sequence. He began to destroy every existing traces of the unforgivable crime he was about to do minutes ago.
And the moment he finally set the computer to auto delete everything on its own, the sound of the piano finally ended. Causing Sei to turn towards the door, and as he was about to move away from the computer room, they heard voices. Two guards of the building came together with a woman that appeared to be a nurse and they led the girl away.
Seeing Sei just froze in place as he just watched the girl"s back, Zaki immediately spoke.
"Do you want to go see her?" he asked and Sei looked at him for a while before he shook his head.
"People will soon come here to investigate… we can"t involve her." Sei replied in a weak voice before he suddenly moved weakly and hugged Zaki.
Zaki was startled, but before he could react, Sei fainted. Snapping out from shock, Zaki sighed with great relief as he slowly put Sei on his back to carry him and leave the place.
However, before they left, Zaki decided to sneak first in the clinic to see the girl"s face. But before he could, a woman came out of the room taking the girl with her, causing Zaki to immediately hide..
Gladly, before the girl disappeared, Zaki caught a glimpse and saw her face. And instantly, Zaki, who have such an almost super human memory carved the girl"s face in his head.
