Chapter 1827: Helping out a Damsel in Distress
Ye Ling’s expression s.h.i.+fted slightly. “Master, you’ve only just come back, don’t you need to rest?”
An Lin shook his head. “I can’t afford to rest. The Heaven Crus.h.i.+ng Sect is most likely going to be able to find a way to bypa.s.s the Heavenly G.o.ds’ concealment spell techniques very soon. Hence, the Heavenly G.o.ds are very likely going to go into hiding again soon…”
“Please look after yourself, Master.” Ye Ling wore an earnest expression of concern.
An Lin patted Ye Ling’s head. “Don’t worry so much. You know how powerful your master is. The Heavenly G.o.ds think they’re the hunters, but I’m going to show them that they’re just pitiful prey for me to slaughter!”
Ye Ling nodded obediently with reverence in her eyes. “Master is the best! Little Ling will wait for your triumphant return!”
An Lin nodded before departing from the Four Nine Immortal Sect.
The fact that the Blood Martial Wanderer had come to seek refuge in the Four Nine Immortal Sect was not something known to the outside world. An Lin only needed to disguise himself as the Blood Martial Wanderer and travel along his originally planned course.
“Pa.s.sing through the Kingdom of the Nine States, then through the southern region of the Purple Star ruins, before coming to the Herd Beast territory that has not been affected by the war…
“To the east, there are boundless rainbow gra.s.slands with many renowned places, as well as spirit lakes and spirit mountains… This is indeed a perfect place for the Herd Beast Tribe who love peace and harmony.”
Among the Herd Beasts, there were no Dao Integration Stage super mighty figures. The most powerful beings among them were only at the Return to Void Pinnacle Stage. Their peace-loving nature meant that they did not partic.i.p.ate in the war between the Heavenly Human Tribe and the Kingdom of the Nine States, so the Heavenly G.o.ds’ killing spree did not extend to them.
An Lin imitated the Blood Martial Wanderer’s method of movement, shrinking the ground before him, thereby allowing him to travel a distance of several dozen kilometers with each and every step taken.
Due to the ongoing war, many places had been reduced to desolate ruins, but this place was an exception.
The Blood Martial Wanderer liked to survey the scenery, so An Lin naturally had to pretend that he was admiring the scenery too as he traveled toward the Herd Beast territory in the Winter Sheep Plains.
Before he knew it, he had made his way out of the Kingdom of the Nine States.
The rest of the Kingdom of the Nine States was in turmoil from the war, but the Winter Sheep Plains in the east presented a scene of peace and serenity.
An Lin strolled along on his journey and looked up in the northern direction. There, he could see a white pillar of light rising straight into the sky, as if it were supporting this entire world.
Nuwa sure was making a huge commotion with her mending of the heavens!
He traveled for an entire day.
The next day, An Lin arrived at the Winter Sheep Plains.
What he saw first was not a boundless set of gra.s.slands. Instead, he was greeted by the sight of undulating lawns that were green, yellow, and even light blue.
“Wow… How beautiful!” An Lin gasped in amazement before snapping a few pictures with his photographic crystal. This was a habit the Blood Martial Wanderer had as well, and he imitated it to perfection.
He stepped onto the soft, lush gra.s.s and inhaled the fresh air, and he suddenly felt like he was back at the Four Nine Immortal Sect.
“Oh… Such wonderful air…” An Lin’s golden eyes narrowed as he praised with a genuine smile.
All of a sudden, an enraged roar suddenly erupted in the distance.
“Stop! Don’t run!” A dragon-head centaur let loose a loud cry as she raced ahead at an extremely fast speed, chasing after a leopard with red flames shooting from its paws. “Keep running and I’ll kill you!”
“Hi there, beautiful madam, do you require a.s.sistance?” The Blood Martial Wanderer was a very kind-hearted person with a strong sense of justice. As such, An Lin immediately rushed over to keep up appearances.
Whoos.h.!.+
An Lin rushed over to the leopard before las.h.i.+ng out with a vicious kick.
Bam!!!
The leopard’s body was contorted into the shape of a horseshoe from the force of his kick.
The leopard wailed in anguish before being split in half.
The two halves of its body spasmed a few times before falling completely still.
“That beautiful madam has already told you not to run, yet you still insist on running away. What an insolent creature!” An Lin turned around with a smug expression to discover that the dragon-head centaur was completely stunned.
Her voice trembled. “You… you…”
An Lin immediately saluted her in a gentlemanly fas.h.i.+on. “No need to thank me, beautiful madam, it’s what I do.”
The dragon-head centaur rushed over to the dead leopard as tears flowed from her eyes. “I was only saying that to scare my leopard… Why did you kill it…”
An Lin’s expression faltered upon hearing this.
Well… That’s f*cking awkward.
“Beautiful madam, how could you say something that could so easily cause a misunderstanding?” An Lin still felt like he wasn’t at fault.
The dragon-head centaur retorted with a resentful expression, “This is like if a mother were chasing after her naughty child and telling her child that she would kill them if they kept running away, only for a pa.s.serby to turn up out of the blue and actually kill the child. Who is at fault here?”
An Lin replied without any hesitation, “The mother is at fault!”
The dragon-head centaur: “…”
If it weren’t for the fact that she knew that she was no match for An Lin, she would have already pounced on him.
“So be it, I have a few thousand more of them anyway…” The dragon-head centaur accepted her fate and sighed as she put the body of the leopard into her storage ring.
An Lin could tell that this was no ordinary creature. From her bone structure, he could tell that she was only about twenty years of age, but she was already at the Spirit Nurturing Stage. She would be considered a top-rate prodigy anywhere on the entire continent.
Even though he was aware of all this, he was still shocked upon hearing about how she owned several thousand of these leopards.
“These leopards have fire bursting out from their feet! Aren’t they going to set the gra.s.slands on fire?” An Lin was astonished.
“Any of them who dares to do that will become dinner for the day, so they wouldn’t dare to do that.” The dragon-head centaur harrumphed coldly. “Don’t underestimate the ability of the Herd Beasts to discipline mutant beasts.”
An Lin nodded with a smile. “Beautiful madam, would you allow me to visit your tribe?”
The Blood Martial Wanderer was a living being who enjoyed communicating with others and experiencing all types of different cultures.
The dragon-head centaur became quite cautious upon hearing this request. “Why would you want to do that?”
An Lin pointed at the blood on the ground. “Well, I’ve just helped you, so why don’t you help me in return? I’m very interested in the different cultures of different tribes.”
The veins on the dragon-head centaur’s forehead bulged. You call that helping me? You killed my leopard to help me?!
“Oh, right, let me introduce myself, I am the Blood Martial Wanderer,” An Lin continued.
“Ah! You… you’re the Blood Martial Wanderer of the Holy Martial Clan?” The dragon-head centaur’s body shuddered as she stared at An Lin in shock before lowering her head with a respectful expression, especially after seeing the red cross on his face, “I welcome you with all my heart! Please forgive me for my rudeness!”
The Blood Martial Wanderer was actually quite renowned across the continent and had a very good reputation, so his name commanded a lot of respect.
“No worries,” An Lin said with a polite and gentle smile.
The dragon-head centaur blushed slightly before wagging her s.e.xy b.u.m at An Lin. “Please ride me, Senior!”
“Wha…?” An Lin was stunned by her offer.
The dragon-head centaur blinked. “Come on, I’ll carry you to the Herd Beast Tribe territory.”
An Lin heaved a sigh of relief. “Oh…”
