Chapter 1072: The Sudden Inheritances
Tian Chenji was even more perplexed now. “What did we do wrong?”
Xi Haizi looked up at the fleeing An Lin and Lan Xiaoni before speaking in a slow voice, “All those years ago, we used star divination to discover that a new rising star will appear in the future. This rising star will inherit everything we have here and execute that mission in order to save our two tribes and usher in a new era.
“Why can’t that rising star be her?”
A smile suddenly appeared on Xi Haizi’s face.
“Her?” Tian Chenji was a little enraged. “She’s a disobedient little fish who has no respect for her ancestors! How can she be entrusted with the duty of saving our two tribes?!”
Xi Haizi laughed heartily. “It’s exactly because she doesn’t follow the rules and dares to think outside the box that makes her a fated person. Only a mermaid like this can usher in a new generation. If she were an obedient little fish who obeyed all of the rules, then she wouldn’t even be able to obtain the tribal secrets.”
Tian Chenji fell silent.
Xi Haizi continued, “The result is, she and that man have not only obtained the treasures of the tomb, they have also gleaned the tribal secrets. She has even received the power of that G.o.d! Is this not enough proof that she is the rising star we’re looking for?”
“So be it. Perhaps you’re right. In order to effect change in this world and rescue our two tribes, perhaps we need someone like her. I give them my approval.” Tian Chenji recalled back to the image Xi Haizi had shown her, and she finally heaved a resigned sigh before nodding her head.
In that image, there was a hideously disfigured mermaid whose body was riddled with ghastly wounds. However, her eyes were filled with unyielding determination and ferocity as she gripped onto a divine dao spear.
It was very difficult to imagine that a pampered, cowardly mermaid princess would be capable of putting on such an expression.
“Then our inheritances…
“Let’s give them everything!”
“Alright. Which one are you going to choose?”
“I choose that adorable mermaid princess. She now has the power of that G.o.d, so she should be able to completely inherit my Spirit Fish water-type inheritance.”
“So I have to give my inheritance to that human? With my current power… Heh… He sure has lucked out!”
Tian Chenji’s voice gradually faded as her statue began to truly become an inanimate object. At the same time, a white ball of light hurtled down the corridor at an extremely fearsome speed!
Xi Haizi sat down on the huge turtle statue, and his vitality also faded as a blue ball of light appeared to follow after the white ball of light. Both b.a.l.l.s of lights began hurtling down the corridor.
At the same time, An Lin and Lan Xiaoni were still running for their lives. The had already reached the three-way crossroads and was only a small distance away from escaping this sect.
All of a sudden, An Lin seemed to detect something, and he turned around as his expression s.h.i.+fted drastically. “Be careful!”
A white ball of light hurtled toward him at blinding speed.
He immediately pulled out his Chaotic Alloy Brick as a s.h.i.+eld.
The big black brick was indestructible, and nothing would be able to pa.s.s through it.
Thus, the white ball of light crashed into the black brick and was severely wounded.
Tian Chenji: “…”
Lan Xiaoni screamed when she saw the blue ball of light racing toward her, and she instantly unleashed her divine might to unleash an almighty palm toward the blue ball of light.
She could control all types of water-type spell technique, so this naturally included water-type inheritance spell techniques.
Hence…
Slap!
The blue ball of light was swatted aside and also sustained severe wounds.
Xi Haizi: “…”
The two of them began to doubt their decisions for the first time.
These inheritance spell techniques were supposed to have an absurdly high strike rate, but they were blocked by these two… Were these really the fated ones?!
The white ball of light shuddered violently and refused to let An Lin go. It swerved around An Lin and his brick before cras.h.i.+ng toward his back!
An Lin’s expression s.h.i.+fted drastically, and he immediately tried to swivel his black brick around.
However, the white ball of light was simply too fast, and it instantly struck his back before fusing into his body.
Boom!
A vast amount of information and spell technique true intent exploded in his mind!
The Xi Haizi ball of light lit up slightly, and it also tried to emulate this by swiveling around to strike Lan Xiaoni from behind.
And then… it was astonished to discover that it couldn’t move!
That’s right, it had been controlled by Lan Xiaoni and was now Lan Xiaoni’s spell technique.
Xi Haizi: “…”
They were only trying to bestow their inheritances upon these fated ones only to be blocked, slapped away, and controlled…
Who could understand their grief and indignation?
Fated ones my *ss!
Xi Haizi refused to accept this and wanted to storm away!
Unfortunately, it couldn’t move…
An Lin suddenly let loose a light moan. “Hmm… Phew…”
“Are you alright, Big Boss An Lin?” Lan Xiaoni turned to An Lin with a concerned expression.
“I’m fine. These b.a.l.l.s of lights seem to be harmless. I received Tian Chenji’s inheritance…” An Lin hesitated momentarily before speaking with a peculiar expression.
Lan Xiaoni’s mouth gaped open slightly upon hearing this. “Senior Tian Chenji’s inheritance? They were trying to kill us a second ago, but now they’re giving us their inheritances? Have they gone insane?!”
An Lin nodded. “They probably have. I’ve always felt like they’re emotionally unstable and completely unreasonable. Turns out they were nutjobs after all!”
The blue ball of light was fuming with rage.
Nutjobs my *ss! You expect me to give you my inheritance after you talk this much sh*t?
Keep dreaming!
Even though he was completely enraged, he still couldn’t move…
“You received Senior Tian Chenji’s inheritance, so this one should be Senior Xi Haizi’s inheritance?”
“That should be the case. You might as well take it.”
“Sure. I’m starting to feel a little excited.”
Thus, the blue ball of light was manipulated to crash into Lan Xiaoni’s body with an expression of indignation and despair on its face…
After a while, Lan Xiaoni reopened her bright eyes. “Big Boss An Lin…”
An Lin turned to the beautiful mermaid beside him. “What is it?”
“Senior Xi Haizi… is so generous!” Lan Xiaoni exclaimed with amazement.
An Lin: “…”
“Senior Xi Haizi must be elated to see how ecstatic you are from the afterlife,” An Lin said with a smile.
Lan Xiaoni and An Lin both extended an earnest salute to the tomb as a gesture of grat.i.tude.
Regardless of what had happened here, they were quite grateful to have been acknowledged by the High Priest and the High Priestess.
After everything was said and done, they continued down the corridor toward the spatial pa.s.sageway at the end. They finally made their way out of the tomb and back onto the seabed of the West Sea.
“Haha, I’ve finally come out!” Lan Xiaoni whooped for joy as she swam through the water with elation.
An Lin also heaved a long sigh of relief, feeling as if a huge weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
He was finally back after enduring all those battles and encountering all those dire circ.u.mstances!
Even though this trip to the tomb had been an extremely dangerous one, they had both reaped many rewards, so An Lin was quite content.
“Everything was like a dream.” Lan Xiaoni sighed with emotion as she spread open her arms and closed her eyes, as if she were embracing the entire ocean.
A smile appeared on An Lin’s face. “Let’s get back up. It’s time to decipher the mystery on the turtle sh.e.l.l.”
“Sure!” Lan Xiaoni answered obediently as she swam toward the surface of the West Sea behind An Lin.
