The next morning. I plan on going to the Adventurer’s Guild to become and adventurer. A sword and a house are signs of success, but, we need more than that to live on.
It would take a long time to walk, but Hii-chan wants me to ride her.
“Hey, Hii-chan, calm down–!”
When Rifua tries to ride her, Hii-chan tries to throw her off violently. Well, she let me, so there there must be a way for her to warm up to Rifua.
“Waaauugh—!? It hurts!”
Rifua is shaken off again, she’s close to tears, and I’m at my wit’s end. This is the fourth attempt we’ve made today.
“Bad dragon for dropping a G.o.ddess–”
“Hii-chan, can you give Rifua a ride?”
“Rarar”
This is giving me a bad mood. Her pride is way too high…….
I pulled a pinego out of the item box.
“Raraaar~”
Soon her mood had improved. She doesn’t get angry when I try to ride her, but does when Rifua tries. However, she does like the pinego……
I give Hii-chan instruction to leave the forest and run along the road. She’s quite fast, and the wind is comforting during the ride.
I turned blue when I saw Rifua biting her lip.
It’s dragon sickness!
The short outer wall that surrounded the town came into view.
“Look! The town’s just ahead. Just a little longer, just hold on until then!”
“Yes……”
We arrived at the outer wall almost immediately. Her speed is way too fast!!
“Hii-chan, stop! We’ve arrived!”
Hii-chan came to a stop as I instructed. With the sudden stop, Rifua and I came flying off.
Whoosh.
“Ouch.” “Aaaaauu….”
The nearby merchants, guards, and townsfolk are surprised.
“D-dragon here in toooooown!!!”
“Send a request to the guild! Even though its still a child, Somebody buy us some time to hold it off–”
“Evacuate the townsfolk–!! Hurry up!!”
Huh–…… Hii-chan isn’t that dangerous, is she?
“Rarar?” even Hii-chan is confused.
It was as if someone had stirred up a hornet’s nest, a fuss was made, and more and more guardsmen began to appear. Is this big enough of an event to shake the town up?
“H-hey! Adventurer over there! Get away from there quickly!” “Um, no, I’m fine here.”
“A girl just fell down!”
“She’s just sick from riding the dragon. Please, leave her alone. She’ll be fine.”
The guards raise their spears and shields against me. Wawawawa- please wait a minute!
“Hii-chan, come here.”
“Come here, Hii-chan.” I work as the guards come ever so closer to me.
“Give me a paw.”
“Rar.”
“Flap your wings.”
“Rar.”
Ooh….., a stir went through the gathered a.s.semblage.
“He tamed a d-dragon–!?”
“A highly intelligent dragon said to look down on people…?”
“And getting it to perform tricks….!?”
Oh come on, don’t be so surprised.
“A Dragon is a…. high ranking monster. This man must be quite formidable…….” Rifua gave out some additional commentary.
“–Hey! It’s Bro!” Is that who I think it is? Are you working the day shift today? Congratulations.
“Thanks!”
“That guy’s ok. He’s been here this week? He seems to be friends with it.”
“Yes! I found this lost child up at Elm Lake. She’s a good kid.”
Hii-chan came over to be scratched. She seem to think that she was being praised. Good, good, and I pet her gently.
“Don’t eat anyone or wreck the town, okay….?”
“Raar!” Hii-chan burped out a small flame. She did not seem to like the request of her master.
““““Whaaaaaaaaaa—-!?””””
Zazazazaza– and everyone moved about twenty meters away at once. Whatever. I came to protect the people of this town….?
“Hey! Don’t breathe fire at people!”
“Rar……..”
Very good, Hii-chan lowers her head in shame.
Aahh… I seem to have made another commotion.
“Are you communicating with it!?”
I wonder if things would be alright if she could talk unexpectedly….. Is it not worthless because everyone freaked out?
“B-bro, I thought you were an ordinary person, but what kind of person are…..?”
“Eh? But I am an ordinary person.”
““““You Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrr!!””””
I was denied by everyone present. This sucks. But, I am a normal person. (TN note: a normal person with a way beyond broken Luck score, that is.)
With a single step the captain of the guard came forward. “What did you come to this town to do?”
“I have business at the Adventurer’s Guild.”
“I see…., But we can’t let the dragon enter the city walls.”
Oh, is that so…? Because there been such a ruckus here at the entrance, it might be worse if she entered the town itself.
“I understand. I’ll make sure she waits outside of the town.” I take Hii-chan a short distance away from town into the plains, and after telling her to wait, I returned to the town.
Well, she shouldn’t be bothered by any of the monsters in the general area. There weren’t any enemies that could give either of us any difficulty when I scanned the area.
“She’s waiting over there obediently. However, if someone were to attack her….”
“Is, is that so? Then it’s fine….” Said the guard captain as he returned to the other guards who returned to their original posts.
“Jinta, shall we go?” Rifua appears to have returned to normal. We began to walk towards the Adventurer’s Guild.
“Do most people have any knowledge about dragons?”
“Not really. They don’t appear around people very often.”
Because it’s an alternate world, there don’t seem to be that many beginners. When I level up, I’ll become even stronger….
A rustling flapping, and a gout of vomited flame. I want to see it.
I entered the town while thinking about that.
