Chang Wook reached Mi Jin "What are you doing out here on your own?" he asked her."I"m not alone, you"re here" she said. A smile appeared on his face. He looked out at the ocean then back at Mi Jin.
"It"s been a long time since we did this" he said. She looked at him confused "Standing right here and looking out at the ocean" Mi Jin chuckles thinking back to those days when they were just kids. Things where much simpler and good back then.
"You looked at her like you used to look at me" Mi Jin whispered. Chang Wook didn"t hear her properly, so he asked her to repeat but she laughed.
"I like your fiancée" she said. Chang Wook for a second forgot that he had left Ha Eun back at the house. He looked towards the window and noticed how people were around her. He saw her shocked expression that said, "someone help me" he smiled, liking that expression "She seems like a nice person" Mi Jin added. He looked back at her and nodded.
"Well, she is something" he said.
"So, when are you going back?" she asked him. Chang Wook placed his hand over his heart.
"Wow, I just got here and you"re already kicking me out" she laughed and playfully shoved him to the side "I"ll be staying here for a week, then back home" he told her. A smile appeared on Mi Jin"s face.
"Then you can come to the Cherry Blossom Festival and the Udo Seash.e.l.l Festival!" Mi Jin had a happy expression on her face. He could never say no to that face.
"Are you inviting me to go to the festivals with you?" he asked her. Mi Jin"s cheeks flushed red.
"Well, with everyone else of course" she said. Chang Wook noticed how her cheeks turned red which made him feel a bit embarra.s.sed for teasing her like that "We should head back" she told him, and he nodded.
Inside everyone was urging Ha Eun to sing karaoke but Ha Eun had no intention of doing so which made Chang Wook want to make her sing even more.
"Chang Wook! Convince your fiancée to sing for us!" one person said. Chang Wook smiled at Ha Eun.
"Go on honey, you love karaoke" Chang Wook said loudly. Ha Eun glared at him.
"Only if we sing a duet honey" Ha Eun said. Everyone cheered for the two. They just got out of a horrible experience, now they walked themselves into another one. Recently neither of them can let the other get away with something, without some trouble.
"Everyone here knows Chang Wook is tone deaf" a guy said. Others cheered and laughed. Chang Wook shrugged with a devilish smile. Ha Eun glared at him but took the microphone and looked over the songs in the machine. One of them caught her attention.
No one noticed but Chang Wook saw that for a second Ha Eun seemed to want to cry. Ha Eun didn"t think she"d ever see that song again, it was so old, who would have thought she"d see it again, and in this particular karaoke machine. She felt she looked at it for too long, so she kept on scrolling. She stopped on one that had a nice rhythm that people knew so others would want to jump in. When she started singing people were amazed by how good she was.
But no one was more so than Chang Wook. He was mesmerized by her voice. Somehow, for the first time she looked attractive in his eyes, and not the monster that has terrorized him for the past 6 years. How did he not know this woman knew how to sing?
Mi Jin noticed how Chang Wook looked at Ha Eun. He must have heard her sing hundreds of times yet every time she sang, he looked at her as if it was the first time he saw her. She thought that it must be nice to be looked at like that, especially by him.
As people joined in to sing along, Mi Jin tried to not be bothered by Chang Wook"s expression and sang with everyone else. Ha Eun couldn"t help but sometimes look over at Chang Wook and Mi Jin who were sitting so close to each other.
"Don"t sit so close to her" Ha Eun thought to herself. That thought made her mess up the lyrics and people laughed. She laughed with them but still felt uncomfortable and wanted to hit herself for thinking such a stupid thing. She shouldn"t care if he sat next to Mi Jin or not. She"s not really his fiancée. She doesn"t love him or care about him in the slightest. She convinced herself that she was just worried that people might find out their relationship is a sham "Yes, that"s why I messed up"
When it started to get dark out, people started to leave and when the house was finally empty with only the couple and Chang Wook"s family, Do Mi took them upstairs.
She showed Ha Eun around the house and took her into a big bedroom. It had a queen bed, a bathroom with a bathtub and a shower as well as a walk-in closet. Not to mention there was also a veranda where you had a beautiful view of the ocean.
This bedroom wasn"t as big as the one back home, but it"ll do for a few days.
"We"ll leave you two to unpack" Do Mi said "Goodnight!" Ha Eun questioned why Do Mi said "you two" as she was closing the door, leaving her and Chang Wook together in the same room.
"What?" Chang Wook asked Ha Eun.
"Aren"t you going to a separate room?" she asked him.
"Well, we are supposed to be an engaged couple, it"ll be weird if I just sleep in a different room" Chang Wook said, then Ha Eun crossed her arms over her chest and gasped. Chang Wook scoffed, not believing his boss.
"You are not sleeping in this room" Ha Eun told him.
"Um...yes I am" Chang Wook said. Ha Eun was shocked, this is nonnegotiable. Chang Wook grinned and slowly walked towards her.
"Wha…what are you doing?" she asked, her face becoming red. His parents are in the house, what the h.e.l.l is he planning on doing to his boss?! "Pervert!" she said loudly tensing up and closing her eyes.
She felt as Chang Wook walked right past her. He took two pillows from the bed, a blanket and walked into the closet bringing back out a futon. He placed them on the ground on the bottom of the bed then looked at Ha Eun. She felt embarra.s.sed for what had just happened. What was going through her head?
Chang Wook noticed and that made him smile "You are so stupid" he told her then turned around to start unpacking his stuff. Ha Eun"s face turned red, but not of anger, of embarra.s.sment.
"Did you just say I was stupid?!" she yelled at him.
"No. I said you ARE stupid. There"s nothing past tense about it" Chang Wook answered quickly, not turning around to look at his boss.
"I could fire you" she told him. He wasn"t scared of her anymore. Right now, he had the upper hand, so he chuckled. She knew she couldn"t threaten him with that for much longer. In this situation, the one that needed the other more was her.
"Then our deal would be off" he told her. Ha Eun looked down. Without him she"d lose her job so she just took his insult without another word.
"Two points me" he thought to himself thinking back to the day of their deal when he got her on her knees and now when she didn"t have anything to counter with.
"b.a.s.t.a.r.d" Ha Eun thought to herself.
