After the talk with Ha Eun over the phone, he couldn"t wait for tonight. Once night came, he looked to see if all the employees had left the floor. There were still a few left, but it seemed they were about to leave, so he decided to order take out. He called Ha Eun that his floor was empty and that she could come over. Then he sat back down as he waited for Ha Eun, impatiently.Ha Eun walked out of her office and checked to see if there were still any employees. To her dismay, there were. This made her hate the fact that she made them work so hard.
As she walked back to her office, she asked herself, "Should I use my status as CEO to make them leave?" No, she shouldn"t. That will raise questions. Once inside her office, she looked at the fire alarm and for a second thought about pulling it, but the consequences would be too severe.
She hit her head against her office door, repeatedly "Leave you b.a.s.t.a.r.ds!"
After a while, she went outside once again. She saw a few cubicle lights on, but no people. Maybe they went downstairs for some coffee. She took this opportunity to head to Chang Wook"s floor. She pressed the elevator b.u.t.ton, and as it slowly opened, she noticed some of her employees. Before the elevator opened completely, she ran for the emergency stairs.
She looked out the door"s small window, wondering if they saw her. Two of them continued talking as they made their way out of the elevator, the third one, on the other hand, looked towards the door. Ha Eun quickly ducked.
"Guys, did you just see the CEO?"
Ha Eun heard footsteps getting closer towards her.
"Why would the CEO be on the emergency staircase when there"s a perfectly good elevator?" one of the two asked.
"Come on. We have work to do."
Ha Eun sighed with relief. She wanted to take the elevator, but it seemed she"d have to take the stairs. Once in Chang Wook"s floor, she noticed battery operated tealights on top of specific tables as a way for her to follow them.
Ha Eun smirked, "He"s such an idiot" she whispered.
Ha Eun followed them, all the way to the employee break room. Ha Eun knew how important breaks were for her employees so when she took over as CEO, she got them remodeled. Now they were s.p.a.cious. They had two fridges with a big kitchen, many tables and even booths, like the ones you have in restaurants. It also had two tv"s, a pool table, board games and not to mention the floor to ceiling windows that showed a great view of the city.
Surprisingly the workers rather than laze around, they worked even harder, Chang Wook didn"t know if it was because they were too scared of his wife or because they had a reasonable amount of break time and a fun breakroom.
Ha Eun followed the candles to the floor to ceiling window. There, Chang Wook was sitting on the floor, over a blanket and take out was right in the middle.
"Dinner in the breakroom is considered a date?" Ha Eun asked with a grin.
"Anytime we are alone together that isn"t at home; we are on a date" Chang Wook said. Ha Eun scoffed and sat down.
As they ate, Chang Wook said "Fun fact about Chang Wook 103: I hate the taste of pineapple."
Ha Eun smiled "I haven"t heard those in a while" she said "Wait, what happened to the other ones?"
"I made a list, but I don"t remember all of them, so I just tell you the ones I remember" he said "Also, we"ve been married for a while, but still you don"t know anything about me."
"I think I know more about you than you think" Ha Eun said. Chang Wook was surprised by this.
"Go ahead then, tell me some fun facts about me."
"For starters, you eat ramen with a fork" Ha Eun chuckled "It"s seriously weird. What Korean eats ramen with a fork?"
Chang Wook was surprised by this since he doesn"t remember a time he ate ramen with her.
"Your long term memory is great, but your short term sucks" Ha Eun said "Like you can remember something I told you the first day we met, but you can"t remember what you had for breakfast this morning."
"I call it selective memory" Chang Wook said.
"You have dark brown hair. It"s so dark that most people see it as black, but it"s actually dark brown"
"You hate scary movies, but that doesn"t stop you from watching them."
"You like watching j.a.panese anime, and you prefer to watch it with subt.i.tles."
"You say you like broccoli but if it"s alone, without any sauce, you won"t eat it."
"You eat tomatoes, but you hate ketchup."
Ha Eun kept saying these fun facts that Chang Wook had no idea she knew. Ha Eun wasn"t going to deny that she never bothered to know more about Chang Wook, but some of the things he did, she noticed, and now that they were married and lived under the same roof, she noticed a lot more.
"Okay, okay, I get it. You know a lot about me" Chang Wook said. He opened two bottles of soju, one for each.
"Soju?" Ha Eun asked.
"It goes great with takeout," Chang Wook said.
As they ate and drank they talked about their day. When Chang Wook mentioned meeting with her brother, he had to come clean about what happened the night he got arrested.
To his surprised, Ha Eun wasn"t bothered by it at all "You"re not going to yell at me or something?" Chang Wook asked her.
"To be honest, I thought that was the reason. You"re not the type of guy to get into fights for no reason, especially with a cla.s.smate" Ha Eun said as she took another sip of her drink "But, that was a stupid reason" she said and flicked Chang Wook on the forehead.
"People are going to talk about us whether you want them to or not. They are going to say bad things and good things. Being with me, that"s something that you"re going to have to get used to" Ha Eun said.
Chang Wook felt a bit bad about it now. Ha Eun took a long sip of the bottle of soju "But I"m not going to deny that I"m not happy. You were so bothered by what he said about me that you hit him. There"s no one out there that would do the same for me"
The two looked at each other, and suddenly Ha Eun hiccupped. She wanted to drink more soju, but her bottle was already empty. She looked over at Chang Wook"s bottle, and she started to drink from his.
"Ha Eun, are you drunk?" Chang Wook asked her.
"No, you"re drunk!" she answered loudly. Chang Wook chuckled. He took out his phone, so he could record drunk Ha Eun. He didn"t want to forget this memorable scene.
"Ha Eun, what are you thinking right now?" Chang Wook asked her.
Ha Eun placed her finger on her lips and looked up at the ceiling "I"m thinking about Chang Wook" she answered.
"What about Chang Wook?" he asked with a wide smile.
"I like how he makes me smile" she said, and then she laid down on the floor. She looked over to Chang Wook "Being with him is like a dream" she said, suddenly tears started to roll down her face "I"m scared that one day I"ll wake up from this dream and he won"t be there anymore."
Chang Wook wasn"t smiling anymore. He looked at her with a serious expression.
"I"m scared he"ll leave me" she said. Chang Wook stopped recording and got closer to Ha Eun. He pulled her towards him and hugged her.
"He"s not going anywhere" he said while pa.s.sing his hand down her hair "If anything, he"s more scared of losing you" he added.
"Don"t lie, he doesn"t show it" she said.
"Fun fact about Chang Wook number 245: He likes Ha Eun way more than she likes him"
"That"s a lie. Ha Eun likes Chang Wook way more than he likes her" Ha Eun said in a whining tone. Chang Wook was surprised by this.
Ha Eun got away from his embrace and placed her arms around his neck and she pulled herself closer to him. Their faces were inches apart.
"Hey, Chang Wook" she said, "Did you know I like you?" Chang Wook"s cheeks turned red. Drunk Ha Eun was so forward.
"I do now" he said. Ha Eun smiled. She suddenly placed both her hands on his cheeks and pulled him towards her and placed her lips against his.
Chang Wook was surprised by this, but he didn"t stop her, he just closed his eyes.
Once they separated, they stared at each other. Chang Wook noticed how red Ha Eun cheeks were "I like you a lot Ha Eun. I like you so much I can"t even put it into words…" suddenly Ha Eun yawned in his face.
"And it also bothers me that you might be too drunk to remember this conversation," he said "Come on, let"s go home."
As the couple tries to get up, further away, there are a pair of employees, each holding a cup of coffee.
"There are people here," one says, expressionless. The two look at each other, then back at the couple.
"You know, for people that try to keep their relationship on the down low, they sure are bad at it" the other one says, expressionless as well. The two of them nod as they stare at the couple.
"Should we help them?"
"No. It"ll just be awkward for all of us. Let"s just go home"
The two left the office.
Chang Wook and Ha Eun never noticed them.
