On their way back to her office Chang Wook could see his coworkers eyes on them. People were whispering and some even seemed to laugh. As they pa.s.sed by Yong Chul, he saw how his friend looked at him shocked."Seriously? Her?!" he asked him as Chang Wook hurried after her. As Ha Eun sits down on her desk to read over some paperwork Chang Wook can"t believe how she isn"t explaining herself. She glances up at him but continues working.
"What?" she asks.
"Miss Lee, can you explain to me what just happened in there?" he asked her. As she writes on the papers she scoffs and tells him to relax.
"This is for you too" she said. Chang Wook was shocked by her vague answer.
"Do explain!" he asks desperately. Ha Eun already feels annoyed about the whole situation, she doesn"t need Chang Wook breathing down her neck about it. Can"t he just be a good a.s.sistant and go back to work?
"They were about to make Seo Ah, CEO" she said expecting for Chang Wook to catch up, but he was too dumb in her perspective. She quickly regretted using him to get out of that situation.
"I don"t see how that"s my problem" he tells her. Ha Eun sighed.
"If Seo Ah got the CEO position, the first thing she will do is get rid of anything that has to do with me, and that includes firing you"
"Miss Lee…Ha Eun..." Chang Wook takes a deep breath trying to calm himself "I am not going to marry you" he says as he breathes out.
"Um…yes you are" Ha Eun says with a devilish smile "Because if you don"t, all your dreams of making a difference in the entertainment industry will go down the drain. I know how bad you want to be an editor and move people"s hearts with the written word"
Chang Wook couldn"t believe the words that were coming out of Ha Eun"s mouth. She was blackmailing him! That"s illegal! Yet, he felt that there was a slight truth to her words. Seo Ah hated his boss with a pa.s.sion, well everyone hates her but that"s beside the point. He worked really hard to get into this company, his dream was to become and editor and turn books into major hits, just like Ha Eun does with any artist or project she sets her eyes on. He used to aspire to be like her, until he was made to work under her. Now, he was seeing a whole different side to her. A worse side to her.
"Besides, its not like you were saving yourself for someone special" she added insult to injury.
"Uh...yeah, I kind of was" Chang Wook answered but Ha Eun completely ignored him.
"After work, we"ll go get our marriage license" Ha Eun told him "Now go back to work, honey"
Chang Wook left his boss" office. As he sat down on his desk he felt as if he"d just signed a deal with the devil, and he hadn"t even signed anything.
He hit his head against the table and just closed his eyes. How did things turn out like this? He pitied himself. He wanted to talk to Yong Chul, or anyone about his predicament but who would believe him? The whole company was already talking about their engagement and it"ll be her word against his.
She might be the devil incarnate but, she does have influential power. They are from two separate planes here. A bigshot CEO versus her low paying a.s.sistant. There"s no comparing.
Chang Wook looks up at the ceiling pa.s.sing his hands over his face "Life, when I asked you every day if you could get any worse, it was a rhetorical question. Not a challenge" Chang Wook groans and hit his head against the desk once more.
