I’m Hui Tai Lang

Chapter 13: Human Tracks

Chapter 13: Human Tracks

Even with my body suffering from serious injuries, I still slowly walked out of the room while keeping my wounds from rupturing again.

I don’t like environments that are too dark. I was in a very good mood laying on the gra.s.sy ground at the mouth of the cave, while I watched frolicking newborn Snow Wolves from afar.

When the Snow Wolf pack went out to hunt, there would always be a few left behind take care of things and be responsible for the small wolves’ safety.

Those adult snow wolves stood atop a hill in the distance, where the field of view is the largest.

Just as my eyes were narrowing and I was about to doze off, Miki appeared once again.

The cute Miki, with a s.h.i.+ny and bright snow white fur, a slender build, and the adorable Mickey Mouse like head……it was a Moe overload. If we were on Earth, we could definitely get a villa from selling her.

She used her light and quick footstep to walk in front of me. She laid down next to me and started staring at me with a gentle expression.

Don’t tell me this girl has some notions about me!

Just because she’s a wolf, please don’t be under the impression that she doesn’t understand emotions. In the time I have interacted with the Snow Wolf pack, I gradually discovered the concept of emotion isn’t something that is unique to humans.

I moved my head closer and made a sound, which is considered as me making a greeting to her. You need to have courtesy towards a lady, regardless of whether she is the type you like.

By noon, the Snow Wolf pack that went out finally returned. Looking from the distance, he could see countless white dots rus.h.i.+ng over. The sight was like a moving carpet covering the gra.s.sland.

My stomach was feeling very hungry.

Running over, I started to fight with the young wolves to eat. The adult wolves gave me a glance, and then let me through.

The behaviors of all those small guys were really strange today. I walked there and they yielded, being absolutely reverent and respectful as they gave me a suitable seat to have a meal.

Is this to honor me?

I think that most of them were frightened.

I was scarred all over, and with one look, you could tell I was black all over.

TL Note: Shady, Illegal or sinister.

Although they were really ugly, these scars gave me a valiant deterring effect.

The wolves of my generation were all about to become adult wolves. They even sneaked into the Snow Wolf hunting group today.

They definitely went to go buy some soy sauce.

TL Note: Minding my own business – They definitely went to do something, but I am minding my own business.

I am the strongest one in their generation, yet I’m mixed in with the children to fight over meat to eat.

Shameful!

I repeatedly told myself that I’m an injured person!

I took large mouthfuls of the best remaining meat on the prey. I satisfied my stomach, and comfortably ran towards one side to lay and sunbathe.

I’m very suspicious of Miki possibly eating the broken half of my tail. Shame is always following right behind my rear end, serving as the other half of my broken tail.

Foster mother also licked my head a little and laid on the ground to rest.

She must be tired after returning from hunting.

The comfortable days are coming to a close, since I’m already approaching adulthood.

The second day, I formally joined the Snow Wolf hunting pack after nursing my wounds.

That night, the moon was suspended in midair. The light yellow color of the moonlight shone atop the gra.s.sland, giving off a beautiful, yet mysterious impression.

Big White stood at the highest position, howling a long howl to the moon. The numerous snow wolves below followed behind one after another. The “Ao wu” sound awakened the wolves’ feelings, and shattered the peacefulness of the gra.s.sland.

As an intern member of the Snow Wolf hunting group, I was somewhat nervous. On my first day, I ran into the night s.h.i.+ft.

I didn’t know if I would be expelled if a good result was not achieved.

Following the majority of the group, and mixing in with the grandiose Snow Wolf pack, the pitter-patter off-rhythm footsteps made my b.a.l.l.s ache.

Even if we cannot run in sync, we should at least walk in rhythm!

After running for about two kilometers, the snow wolf pack started to separate.

Every time we ran a certain distance, a few hundred snow wolves would split from the pack.

I stayed by Foster Mother from the beginning. By taking advantage of when they weren’t paying attention to me, I stealthily lagged to the edges of the pack, squeezing into the thicket to run away.

I want to move on my own, and the mission request is to pick a demon beast. Only then can I gain the acknowledgement of the snow wolves. A collaboration based operation doesn’t suit me.

I’m afraid of getting s.n.a.t.c.hed from.

By separating myself from the pack, I don’t need to worry about getting lost. My **** sense of smell isn’t used for covering up.

TL Note: **** was in the raws

As far as the eye could see, majority of the location where the snow wolves lived was gra.s.sland. There were occasionally some forests, and the trees trunks were perfectly straight. Most of the trees were very tall, around fifty to sixty meters, and the leaves were all needle-shaped.

Stepping on dried up withered branches, I continuously used my nose to sniff the smells that could appear, and very carefully carried out my operation.

About ten minutes later, I smelled something that seemed to be like barbecue fragrance.

That’s right. It was the fragrance of barbecue. It’s the first time I smelled such a savory scent since coming to this world.

It’s so nostalgic!

Smelling the fragrance of barbecue, my nerves were instead stretched taut.

From the information gained from Yao Yao, the humans of this world supposedly weren’t weak at all. The demon beasts generally show up in the desolate areas outside, and the humans who roam those areas were most likely proficient in martial arts.

I don’t have any ability, so why would I dare to go up there?

The humans would not be stupid enough to presenting food to demon beasts.

I am not a human anymore, so if I am careless, I would most likely be killed.

However, I really want to take a look and see how the humans of this world are like.

I climbed up a hillside softly and quietly, I walked in the direction where the barbecue fragrance floated over and saw the flickering of a flame from the hillside.

The distance was roughly one hundred meters, and I could see the bonfire and tent very clearly. Five strong men were also crowding next to the bonfire. Their weapons, a few double-edged swords, were by them.

With one look you can tell they were all strong people who could not be bullied easily.

These weren’t all the important points though, the important point was the barbecue that was supported over the bonfire!

I have not eaten cooked meat for over two months already.

Raw meat can only satisfy my stomach, but cooked meat is a healthy, safe and tasty delicacy.

I rested under a large tree while watching the barbecued meat attentively. Saliva was flowing from my mouth.

“Boss, our harvest this time was pretty good. We killed more than ten demon beasts. This time, we will certainly earn a killing when we return!” The one speaking was the thinnest one among the five, with a river deer-like head and rat-like eyes, flattering, laughing and saying to the boss next to him.

The boss is a burly man according to my estimation. he was at least two meters tall. He was the tallest and biggest amongst the five, his entire face fierce, and the reflecting fire light was making it very scary.

“That’s only natural of course! The boss is already an Acquired Level fighter. In Northern Cloud City, this is something to be greatly famous for! This kind of small harvest is nothing in boss’s eyes!”

The boss still didn’t reply when the little brother by his side started to talk again.

“I’m afraid that with just a bit more time, Boss can finally pick that th.o.r.n.y rose!”

Th.o.r.n.y rose?

From their **** expression, I roughly guessed what “rose” meant.

TL Note: **** in the raws.

“Don’t speak anymore, hurry up and eat Rat. After you eat, take the night vigil. We will go to that small valley tomorrow morning.”

Rat?

This nickname really suits him!

“Boss, you said the Cold Ice Fruit has almost matured?” Rat quietly asked.

“It should be right!” The boss took a bite out of his barbecue and drank a mouthful of his wine with some excitement on his face. “Cold Ice Fruit, as long as I take it, my 《Black Ice Execution》may break through again! And Innate would no longer be far off!”

Following that, there were some fawning words that suited some people’s taste.

All this kissing up, was making me feel sickened.

Sure enough, it’s still humans that have more fort.i.tude in this aspect.

Innate, such an awesome feeling.

I don’t know which of these days I can finally become an Innate.

Currently I’m only a cannon fodder at the lowest levels that can only last a day. I look forward to the day where I can successfully counterattack.

Cold Ice Fruit, just by hearing it you know it’s a good thing. How about I go take a look?
