So expensive! Sofony froze on the spot. For a one time use item, it was actually as expensive as a skill upgraded the second time.
However since the use of points to her was only for upgrades, she reluctantly agreed to the pricing. After the system replied with a laugh, her phone beeped. She swiped her finger up to unlock it and on its storage, she found that a new file was added. The system was even kind enough to make sure it"s the same format as sound phone records. It seemed like the d.a.m.nable thing was good as long as points were part of the discussion.
"Wendy..."
When she showed the file to her friend, Sofony became very nervous. Her friend"s face was very calm even after listening to it.
It was lunchtime. The two of them took a table for themselves and that was also when she grabbed the opportunity to tell Wendy of what she found out.
"I"ll confirm later if the voice matched Floyd"s."
"Wendy?"
The girl smiled at Sofony before calmly returning the earphone to her. "I believe you. Don"t worry. I won"t be careless. I know not to alarm a guilty offender."
Sofony started shaking her head. "I suggest you don"t do that. People like them should be avoided. They are people we should slap and shoo away at first sight!"
"Haha, girl you"re very cute."
"Wendy!?"
The other girl scratched her head as she laughed. "Don"t act that scared. As I said, I won"t be careless. You don"t have to worry that I"ll suddenly disappear. Give me a copy of that file. No matter what, that"s evidence of a crime so I"ll make sure to forward it to my eldest brother."
"Your older brother? Why?"
"He"s a police officer, remember?"
When Wendy gave Sofony a wink, she thought her best friend was much more reliable than anyone else. It may not be the smartest method, but Sofony greatly admired how calm and collected she was despite sharing the same problem as her. Maybe this was the greatest difference between them.
"She really didn"t shame her Miss Number One t.i.tle."
The system probably a.s.sumed she was talking to it so it replied.
"Don"t lump me with that someone!"
"... Who wants to be a thousand miles ahead in that department? I don"t want to talk to you."
.....
This Thursday"s lunch break was quite eventful for Wendy. When they were still at the cafeteria, her best friend Sofony threw her a bomb revelation of some playboy eyeing them with bad intentions. She didn"t know how Sofony got the recording, but she didn"t question it because the file was seemingly authentic. A few minutes ago, she forwarded the evidence to her brother in front of Sofony to pacify her.
"Where did you get it?" It was the cold and angry tone of her eldest brother Simonne Gomez. "I had my colleague a.n.a.lyzed it. The sound recording has not been tampered with."
"My best friend. She"s the other one mentioned there, Sofony Mendez." Wendy shrugged. "She said she secretly recorded it, somewhere in our school where those boys pretending to be gangsters always hang out. The voice seemed to be from Floyd Cruz, one of the greatest sc.u.mbags of our campus. Unfortunately, the sc.u.mbag is from a rich family."
"There"s no rich or poor when it comes to justice. If he"s guilty of a crime, my t.i.tle as a senior police officer is not a joke. How dare he to have malicious ideas toward my sister!"
Her brother immediately rea.s.sured her that he would be helping out. Wendy smiled because she knew he would keep his promise.
The wavy-haired girl went of the restroom"s cubicle after ending the conversation over the phone. Wendy was quite surprised when an acquaintance fixing herself in front of the mirror greeted her.
"h.e.l.lo, Miss Number One."
Wendy politely smiled at the long-haired girl who was busy applying lip gloss on her lips. "Hi there, Felicity."
After exchanging a few sentences, Wendy left the place, intending to go back to their room. Sofony was already there. Wendy knew that once she goes back, the nerdy beauty would be busy reading her notes. Thinking of that cowardly but lovable girl, she couldn"t stop shaking her head with helplessness.
"I"ll probably have to convince her to overnight in our house later. It"s dangerous to leave her alone."
The left side of the corridor was an open s.p.a.ce where many small ornamental plants acted as decors. When the wind blows to her directly from the gra.s.sy lawn, she brushed aside the strands of her that fluttered to her face. As usual, quite a few students started watching her walk. Eyes were always drawn to what could please them.
Wendy"s gaze went to the front. She blinked when a quite good looking guy she didn"t know kept on staring at her. The distance between Wendy and the unknown guy was eventually shortened as they walked.
"Who"s this? Is he coming to me?"
She frowned then intently observed the person. Wendy was not pleased when she managed to confirm her suspicions based on his stares.
In a hostile tone that she had always used to strangers, she barked, "What? Picking a fight?"
