With these thoughts, Rize"s expression went from one of disappointment to one of excitement. If he could capture Lowen and bend his mind to his will, then these boys secrets that allowed him to increase his strength and speed, these techniques would be his prize. With one command, Rize shouted at his followers.
"Take him."
Once more the goblin soldiers rushed at Lowen but this time, not only Colt made his move but Rize did as well. With Lowen"s speed, none of the goblin soldiers could even touch his shadow, add the fact that Lowen"s body had become even more durable and tough, now none of their strikes either from their swords or from their spears could pierce him. Colt, now realizing that his earth spikes would no longer harm Lowen, had to slightly change his tactics. If his spikes wouldn"t work then maybe his heavy metallic mace would. With his strength and the momentum he would pick up racing towards Lowen, if he could land a blow, he was confident he could do some real damage. Colt looked at Rize and Rize nodded back in affirmation, the two understood what needed to be done and so Colt race towards Lowen.
As he came upon Lowen, just like he expected, Lowen vanished from his sight. Once more Colt felt death at his back, this time, however, he didn"t turn to intercept Lowen. Again, a sword struck out aiming for the back of Colts head and once more a wall of ice intercepted it. The magic bracelet on Colts wrist began to glow and he swung his mace, not at the floor but instead at Rize"s wall of ice. Lowen saw this and a bit of confusion struck him. As he continued to watch this, he soon understood what the two were doing. With his sword stuck in place in the ice, it would only take him a few seconds to either force it through or pull it back to his side but a few seconds, he clearly didn"t have. As Colt"s mace made contact with the ice wall, Rize"s sapphire ring flashed with blue light and as though the ice had a mind of its own, the spot where Colt"s mace made contact instantly opened a hole big enough for Colt"s strike to pa.s.s through. At the same time, Lowen"s sword was still stuck in the wall of ice but now the mace was upon him. With no other choice, Lowen released his grip from his sword and retreated back several feet.
With no weapon in hand, the goblins suddenly grew courageous and attacked Lowen from every angle. Colt"s strike continued and he struck the ground with force. The ground beneath Lowen"s feet suddenly shifted and he was robbed of his balance, causing him to fall. With Lowen being completely surrounded and his balance momentarily taken from him, he was forced to take several blows from the goblin soldiers that encircled him. Although their blows could no longer pierce him, each time he was struck, it definitely did not tickle. His body felt every blow, bringing him an enormous amount of pain. Receiving these attacks from all of these weaklings, Lowen began to grow enraged. Spinning his body in a circle, Lowen swept the legs of several goblin soldiers, causing them to collapse to the ground. With Lowen"s enormous strength, he slapped the ground with both of his hands, throwing his body into the air. Landing on the ground Lowen still had no weapon but that didn"t mean he was helpless.
Lowen quickly grabbed a goblin by the arm and with his shadow steps, Lowen began to pivot and turn with incredible force. With one arm, Lowen began to swing this goblin soldier around him like a human tornado. With Lowen"s strength, nothing could stand in his way and with this speed, he began to cover a large area, add the fact that the goblins entire body was covered in metal armor, Lowen suddenly became a chaotic force of nature. In Lowen"s surroundings, body after body was sent flying. All you could hear was the dying screams of any that stood in his way, along with the crunching of bones and the clanging of metallic armor. Even with all that protection, it simply couldn"t help these goblins in the slightest. Goblins were dying left and right, it wasn"t because Rise and Colt were too slow but instead, Lowen was simply too fast in the way that he killed.
Colt again struck the ground but this time Lowen was expecting it. Before the dirt beneath his feet shifted, Lowen had already dashed away. As he did that, he also took the goblin that was in his hand and threw it at Rize and as expected, Rize formed a wall of ice in front of himself, shielding himself completely. Colt ran forward, shield and mace in hand. With his shield raised, he charged at Lowen ready to bash him into the wall. This time though, Lowen didn"t disappear. With Colt charging at him head on, Lowen wanted to test his new move. Just as he was about to strike out, even with Rize"s vision completely blocked by his own wall of ice, he still had enough foresight, and once more, another wall of ice rose up to protect Colt. Lowen"s fist struck this wall of ice and only a few small cracks appeared on its surface, surprising Lowen.
(d.a.m.n, this ice is incredibly tough. If I don"t use my fist second form, I"ll never be able to break it.)
Looking at the situation, Lowen was slightly disappointed with himself. He wanted to do this all on his own but with Rize continuously blocking his blows, this fight would simply go on forever.
(I thought with me fighting like this, Rize would have called every soldier here but there"s still plenty of them missing. d.a.m.n, I wanted to do this by myself but it looks like Rize still thinks he"s going to win this. Looks like I need to use these.)
Lowen pulled three small unremarkable stones from his pocket. On each one of these stones were dozens upon dozens of inscriptions. At first look, these inscriptions looked like nothing more than a jumbled, scribbling mess but upon closer inspection, with a keener eye, one would see just how intricate and special they truly were. To activate these three statue cores, Lowen would have to use nearly all of his earth energy, that"s just how much they consumed. Holding the three cores in hand, with a thought, Lowen forced his energy into each one before he quickly threw them out. Rize and Colt both noticed this but could do nothing to stop this. As the three statue cores struck the ground, three simultaneous explosions shook the walls of the chamber.
*Boom Boom Boom*
Dozens of goblin soldiers were immediately swept up in the explosions and died. A huge cloud of dust rose up and spread outward covering the chamber entirely. Seeing this and hearing three simultaneous explosions suddenly ring out back to back, the goblin soldiers jumped in fright. As the ground continued to tremble, the goblins for the first time began to show signs of panic.
The three cores had now completely sunk into the ground, disappearing from sight. The ground trembled and shook and as it did both Colt and Rize held looks of confusion. They had both felt the energy coming from these cores but the two had no clue what they were, they only felt they were something ominous but neither one had any time to prevent Lowen from throwing these out. After the three explosions, Rize let out a sigh of relief, figuring that that was all those three b.a.l.l.s were capable of. Looking at Colt though, Rize knew that something wasn"t right. If he were an earth mage like Colt, he would have felt the abnormally large amount of earth energy inside each one of those cores and know for a fact that explosions were only the beginning.
As the dust began to settle, the shape of three tall figures could be made out. After the dust completely fell, what stood before these goblins was shocking, to say the least. A creature made entirely from rock had risen up and now stood 9 ft tall. With legs as thick as logs and a waist bigger than a barrel, the way this things body was formed made no sense at all. That, however, was not the most obvious problem. Counting the arms on this rock creature, there were 1 2 3 4 5 6 7, unbelievably, there were seven arms attached to this creature"s upper torso and at the very top sat two huge rock heads but neither were in the shape of a human. 1 head looked like a bear while the other looked like the head of an ape. This was truly a terrifying looking thing but at the same time, it was not alone. Standing to its left and right we"re two more creatures of identical shape and size. Simultaneously the air seemed to leave this dome as everyone took in a large breath at once and at the same time, all these goblins couldn"t help but take a step back in fear. Even though Lowen was strong and fast, he was still a human being. Looking at him, they all saw a dangerous human but still, they felt no fear. Looking up at this strange thing they"d never seen in their entire lives, that barely resembled a bear, an ape, and a human combined, fear was the only thing that came to mind. As the goblins stared at these three statues in both shock and terror, Lowen, on the other hand, didn"t hesitate. With a mighty shout, Lowen gave only one command.
"Kill Them All!"
Before anyone had any time to react, the three statues had already made their move. Like Lowen had done before, the statues had picked several goblins up and began swinging and thrashing them about as though they were toys. The strength of each one of these goblins compared to one of these statues was like the difference between a newborn babe and a full grown adult. A baby could never harm an adult. Spears, swords, none of it worked and none of it would work. These goblins were backing away, dropping their weapons more and more, they were all on the verge of fleeing. Rize saw this and knew that his men had completely lost their courage but if they lost here then this would be the end. Rize shut his eyes for a moment and his sapphire ring began to glow, suddenly, a few crystals along the wall began to crack before three or four of them just exploded and turned to dust. With this Rize"s ring glowed brighter and brighter. Opening his eyes, Rize"s voice echoed out as he roared.
"Soldiers!! Fight!"
As though the goblins had suddenly lost control of their body, they began picking up their weapons and like drones, they ran forward, right back into combat.
Lowen was slightly surprised by this but only slightly. With his knowledge of Rize and his abilities, this only seemed like a small extension of his power. With the statues now fighting the small fry, a huge annoyance was alleviated from Lowen. Eyeing his sword still stuck in the ice, Lowen went for it. How could Rize allow Lowen to gain any more advantages though?
Before Lowen could get to his sword, Rize erected a wall of ice while at the same time summon a large amount of water in the air. Lowen had missed his opportunity and now his entire sword was encased completely in ice but that became the least of his worries. The walls began to open up again and more and more goblin soldiers, like an endless wave flooded in, taking on the statues.
Lowen felt the sudden surge of power and looked up at its source.
Looking up at the ceiling, Lowen noticed a large amount of water that had formed at the top of the dome. Suddenly this large amount of water separated into thousands of long drops of water before freezing into small sharp shards of ice. Rize"s ring flashed once more and the ice shards began to spin with Incredible speed. Lowen immediately sensed danger and knew that he had to dodge these at all cost. Rize"s ring flashed once more and the shards of ice shot towards Lowen like a hail of frozen daggers. Just as Lowen was about to jump out of the way, again, the ground beneath his feet shifted.
