Chapter 5 - Genius hacker
In the c.o.c.kpit, the captain smiled. Completing the dual-factor authentication with his fingerprints and pupils, he activated the highest administrator authority of the s.p.a.ceship’s intelligence system.
The youth sat in front of the bridge and logged in.
His slender fingers quickly tapped the keyboard. Seeing the series of codes popping up on the screen, the captain’s expression gradually became serious.
The young man explained, “It’s the Locke virus.”
The captain was a little puzzled: “The defense system of the s.p.a.ceship has always been perfect. How could a sudden virus attack cause the power supply to collapse?”
The young man explained indifferently: “You said that the defense system is perfect. I don’t agree with that. This s.p.a.ceship is currently on version 7.7, which has been in use for half a year. Once someone gets a copy of the system’s data, it’s easy to study and come up with a way to crack it. Besides, the Locke virus is very powerful and cannot be blocked by the defense network of this system.”
As he explained, he continued to tap the keyboard to enter a long string of codes. His ten fingers were as nimble as dancing on the keyboard.
Following his input, the red garbled characters on the screen were quickly cleared line by line at a speed visible to the naked eye.
And the areas where the garbled codes were located were gradually replaced by normal blue codes.
The captain was a little dazzled by his white and slender fingers, and couldn’t help marveling over it. The senior engineers spent a long time checking and attempting to repair the issue without success, while this young man in front of him only took ten seconds to find out the problem, and only half a minute to repair the extremely complicated system. He really deserves to be…
Just as he was thinking, the young man suddenly stood up from his seat. “Done.”
As soon as he finished speaking, all the lights in the cabin turned back on.
The captain was so grateful that he almost shed tears: “Thank you, thank you so much. If you weren’t on the s.p.a.ceship, I don’t know how long it would take us to get rid of this virus…”
“You’re welcome.” The young man said calmly. “The patch for the Locke virus will be distributed across the airline soon. After the s.p.a.ceship lands, I will send someone to update to the latest version. Next, I’ll have to trouble you and the crew to figure out how to appease the guests, captain.”
The captain hurriedly agreed, “Yes, I will definitely find a way to compensate everyone.”
The youth nodded: “Then I’ll go back first.”

When he left the c.o.c.kpit and went out, he found that the person he met just now was waiting for him with a smile in his eyes.
The young man frowned slightly: “You haven’t left yet?”
Luo Fei looked at him with a smile and said, “I wanted to wait and see if you are as good as you say you are and whether you helped the captain solve this problem.”
The young man looked into Luo Fei’s eyes calmly: “And now?”
Luo Fei stared back at the other party, and said: “I found out that you’re more powerful than you said. It only took you thirty-five seconds to repair such a complicated s.p.a.ceship intelligent system.”
The youth’s mood did not fluctuate at all, and he said lightly: “Thank you for your compliment.”
He then turned around to leave.
Luo Fei quickly followed him: “Add a friend?”
The young man shook his head: “No, I don’t think we’ll have a chance to meet again.”
Luo Fei wasn’t angry at the rejection, and shrugged. “Okay, I don’t like forcing others either. But if we meet again next time, I hope you can change your mind.”
The two separated at the fork. The youth walked to the luxury cabin on the third floor, while Luo Fei went to the restaurant on the second floor to find food.
The power outage spurred gossip, and many pa.s.sengers complained about the quality of the s.p.a.ceship. When Luo Fei walked to the restaurant, he saw a messy scene — because of the sudden power outage, someone accidentally spilled food on the ground, and some people b.u.mped into each other, staining their clothing and hair. Not far away, a man’s chest was covered with noodles, and he looked particularly distressed.
At this moment, a holographic image of the captain suddenly appeared on the big screen in the restaurant.
The old captain bowed to everyone, and said in a gentle tone: “Pa.s.sengers, I am very sorry for the disruption. The temporary failure of the power supply has caused a lot of inconvenience to everyone. In order to compensate you for the loss, during this voyage, all food and drinks are provided free of charge, so please enjoy yourself.”
This compensation temporarily calmed the anger of the pa.s.sengers.
Except for those who accidentally stained their clothes or had their feet stepped on, there were no serious accidents. After a few complaints, everyone dispersed to find something to eat.
Luo Fei found a corner with fewer people and sat down to have lunch.
Chewing mechanically with his mouth, he couldn’t help but think of the youth wearing a mask just now.
That person is full of mystery, and his ident.i.ty is a mystery. Luo Fei also admired his terrifying ability to restore power in thirty-five seconds.
Luo Fei has heard of some extremely high-level hackers who can hack into optical brains and steal data without people being aware of it.
In today’s era, the network is closely related to people’s lives, so network security is particularly important.
Last summer, the Imperial Cabinet pa.s.sed a revision to the cyber crime laws, which added more provisions punishing such crimes. Cyber crimes pose a huge threat to safety in the high-tech era and must be severely punished. Especially for many large enterprises, if company secrets are stolen, the losses will be incalculable.
There haven’t been many cases of cyber crime reported in the news recently, but today it suddenly appeared on a s.p.a.ceship.
To Luo Fei’s surprise, it wasn’t the senior engineers on the s.p.a.ceship that solved the problem, but a mysterious youth.
The other party looked about the same age as himself. Originally, Luo Fei suspected that he was a star in the entertainment industry, so he wore a mask to cover his face. But entertainment stars rely on their faces and acting skills to make a living. Even the few multi-talented ones are only talented in singing and dancing.
This person is more likely to be a master of computing.
Why wear a mask if he’s just a coding whiz? Is he famous enough to be recognized when he shows his face?
Luo Fei stroked his chin thoughtfully.
At this moment, his communicator suddenly lit up. Luo Fei opened it to see that it was a video message sent from Emil, his alpha cousin in the faraway Lyra galaxy.
Back then, the father’s elder sister, Princess Xiya, married to Lyra, and her husband was a well-known local wealthy businessman.
Princess Xiya has always been in poor health. Fortunately, her husband has always loved her very much. Emil is her youngest son, and she loves him very much. Every year when she returns to Capital Star, she will bring this little son with her. In addition, Luo Fei and Emil are only three years apart, and often have video chats, so the relationship between the two has always been very good.
Emil was wearing casual clothes in the video, and smiled. “Luo Fei, which s.p.a.ceship are you on? When will you arrive at Lyra?”
Luo Fei replied: “17:00 arrival.”
The first plan in his trip is the Lyra galaxy, in part to stop by and see Princess Xiya. His aunt has always been very kind to Luo Fei, and would bring him gifts every year, and he has a very close relationship with her. However, Princess Xiya was seriously ill last spring and did not return to Capital Star, so he hasn’t seen her for a year and a half.
Emil immediately sent a reply after receiving the message: “Mother heard that you were coming, and is very excited. She already started cooking for you herself.”
Luo Fei smiled and said, “Let her rest and not worry so much. I’ll see you in the evening.”
Emil said: “Okay, I will go to the s.p.a.ce station to pick you up on time!”
It’s already one o’clock in the afternoon, and he will reach Lyra in four hours.
He only hopes the s.p.a.ceship can reach the destination smoothly, and there will be no more disruptions.
***
The remainder of the journey was really smooth. The s.p.a.ceship arrived at the Lyra s.p.a.ce station on time at 17:00, and the pa.s.sengers lined up to leave the cabin one by one.
Luo Fei was arranged to disembark from the s.p.a.ceship in the second batch, and sat in the cabin patiently waiting for the notice.
Looking out through the porthole, he once again found the group of people walking through the VIP pa.s.sage in the morning. The ident.i.ty of the person protected by layers of bodyguards was still unclear, but Luo Fei was keenly aware he was the youth he met by accident during the outage.
Having so many bodyguards, and wearing sungla.s.ses and a mask when entering and leaving the s.p.a.ceship… Who is he?
Luo Fei stared at his back with some doubts.
Until the little girl’s voice came to his ears: “Brother, it’s our turn, let’s get off the s.p.a.ceship!”
Luo Fei came back to his senses, picked up his backpack, and turned to go out.
Emil was waiting at the s.p.a.ce station, and immediately stepped forward to give him a hug when he came out. “You’ve grown taller again!”
Luo Fei hugged back, and said with a smile: “Cousin, long time no see.”
The relationship between the two is very good, and this time Luo Fei did not bring any guards, but came to the Lyra privately, so Emil didn’t care about the royal etiquette. He simply walked into his hover car with his arms around his younger brother’s shoulders.
The hover car started.
After setting the destination, Emil sat on the sofa next to Luo Fei and asked, “How many days will you stay in Lyra this time? I’ll take you around.”
“I plan to spend Christmas and leave on the 26th.”
“That’s great, my mother will be very happy to know!”
Emil paused for a moment, then inched closer mysteriously: “By the way, there is an interesting event tomorrow. Do you want to go?”
Luo Fei asked, “What event?”
Emil wanted to whet his appet.i.te, but seeing his calm expression, he had no choice but to shrug his shoulders and spill the beans. “Mr. Mo from the Fengyang Group is celebrating his birthday, and all well-known names in the business world are invited. Have you heard of the Mo family? They’re one of the richest families in the empire, so Mr. Mo’s birthday party will be very grand. Want to check it out?”
“The Mo family?” After hearing this word, Luo Fei couldn’t help raising the corners of his lips. “Sure, I really want to visit.”
Luo Fei was not interested in the luxurious lifestyle of the rich, but the omega Mo Lin who appeared in the a.s.sociation list aroused his curiosity.
He has free time anyway, so why not go and see what’s so special about that omega with such strong genes.
Hehehe, it’s party time!
