Chapter 635: Pei Fengwu’s Anger

Mo Wen realized that, among the demonic beasts of the Fire Domain, only the beast kings had appeared on the altar. The other demonic beasts had all disappeared. Even the demonic beasts at the pinnacle of the seventh rank did not enter.
The demonic beasts had an innate fear of the Fighting Spirit Tower built by human beings. Mo Wen had never seen the Fighting Spirit Tower opened to demonic beasts.
The altar in the sky was very big. It felt wide and empty, despite the presence of the enormous beast kings. Mo Wen was shocked to discover that the altar was separated into three zones by a faint blue screen. They could not pa.s.s through the screens which separated the zones. The beast kings of the Fire Domain were in one zone, while the human warriors were in another.
There was only one person in the third zone. He was dressed in a black robe and stood alone. It was him! He was the leader of the Ghost Lair. Mo Wen recognized him at first glance. Unlike everyone else, he stood in the middle of the zone.
Mo Wen’s eyes flashed and he immediately realized what the issue was. The person was the only immortal cultivator amongst them, which was the reason for the special treatment.
Legend had it that there were tower spirits in all Fighting Spirit Towers. The tower spirit was in charge of the rules and kept order within the Fighting Spirit Tower. The tower spirit had put the leader in black robes in his own zone, proving his ident.i.ty as an immortal cultivator. That was because different people would be tested differently in the Fighting Spirit Tower.
Warriors had their own tests to refine themselves, as did immortal cultivators. As for what would happen to the demonic beasts, Mo Wen did not know.
Of course, he hoped that he would have a chance to enter the Divine Pill Sect’s Fighting Spirit Tower. The refinement in the tower was targeted specifically at warriors. It was a pity that his status was too lowly and the Fighting Spirit Tower was only open to warriors who were powerful or rich, for example, warriors whose parents were immortal cultivators or those who made special contributions to the Divine Pill Sect.
“Mo Wen, why are you here as well?” Mo Wen heard a surprised voice. A girl dressed in white approached Mo Wen from the crowd. It was Pei Fengwu.
Mo Wen had been thrown into the air by the Giant Crocodile Beast King and Pei Fengwu had wanted to check on his condition. However, after a series of incidents, she had not managed to do so. However, it seemed that Mo Wen was not seriously injured and had managed to enter the Fighting Spirit Tower.
Pei Fengwu found Mo Wen standing alone. He did not have any companions, which was why she approached him curiously. She had previously thought that Mo Wen had come to be tested in the Fire domain with his sect’s elders and was here to fight for the spiritual fire. However, why was there no one else with him? Could it be that he did not have any companions and had come forth alone? Pei Fengwu found that rather incredulous. The Fire Domain was so dangerous. How could he possibly survive if he was alone?
“It is a coincidence.” Mo Wen nodded at Pei Fengwu. He had a rather good impression of this woman.
“Do you not have any companions?” Pei Fengwu could not resist asking.
She sized Mo Wen up curiously and realized that his aura was just as strong as hers. This shocked her very much. Mo Wen had only been a warrior at the Qi Nucleation Realm when they had met before. His abilities were much weaker than hers. But his cultivation levels had increased in just a short period of time. He was almost as powerful as her now.
Mo Wen smiled and nodded without saying anything. He was not from a great sect, so he naturally did not have any powerful companions with him.
“If you don’t mind, and you think you can trust me, we can journey together. This place is too dangerous and having a few companions would make it relatively safer,” Pei Fengwu said, after a moment of hesitation. There were beast kings and martial arts grandmasters here and they were both very powerful. She had made it here only because of her sect’s power. Mo Wen was alone, which made it very dangerous for him.
Furthermore, she was puzzled by Mo Wen’s ident.i.ty. Not only had he improved his cultivation surprisingly quickly, but he had also managed to join the Vermilion Bird Palace Hall as a man. The ent.i.ty there had even given him special orders. There was nothing straightforward about him at all.
“Fengwu, who is he?”
Mo Wen had not yet spoken when they heard a rather arrogant voice. A tall and muscular young man approached them, standing between Mo Wen and Pei Fengwu. The young man was dressed in white and was very handsome. However, his eyes were very cold, and when he looked at Mo Wen his eyes shone with strong arrogance.
“He is Mo Wen, and he used to be a member of my Fengwu team.” Pei Fengwu glanced at Gong Zhangyan and frowned slightly as she calmly answered him. She hated Gong Zhangyan’s behavior and wanted to tell him it was none of his business. When she thought of his character however, she decided not to in case it caused Mo Wen to face his wrath. In the past, whenever a man got close to her, he would be attacked by Gong Zhangyan. This man was someone who could do anything.
“A member of the Fengwu team? He is a man…” There was a hint of confusion in Gong Zhangyan’s eyes. How could a man join the Fengwu team? Then, he seemed to have thought of something and he paused. He looked at Mo Wen in slight surprise and said, “You are the second man to join the Vermilion Bird Palace Hall after nancy-pants, Mo Qingtian. You are called Mo Wen, right?” Gong Zhangyan lifted his chin slightly to look down at Mo Wen.
“I am.” Mo Wen nodded slightly. He ignored Gong Zhangyan’s overbearing att.i.tude.
“You are a man, and yet you joined the Vermilion Bird Palace Hall. That’s ridiculous. Men should go to Azure Dragon Palace Hall or White Tiger Palace Hall. Don’t let Mo Qingtian influence you. He only knows how to play with the feelings of women and will never accomplish much in life,” Gong Zhangyan said.
Mo Wen frowned. The young man dressed in white was simply too arrogant. Disregarding the fact that he was mocking Mo Wen to his face, he even mocked Mo Qingtian. Mo Wen was on good terms with Mo Qingtian. Even though the rumors about Shangguan Qingyou had spread throughout Huatian Palace, Mo Qingtian did not seem like that kind of person to him.
“Mo Wen, this is Gong Zhangyan. He is a six-star executor of the White Tiger Palace,” Pei Fengwu reminded Mo Wen softly. She was afraid that Mo Wen would act rashly and fight Gong Zhangyan if he did not know who Gong Zhangyan was. It would be difficult to deal with the consequences then. Gong Zhangyan was rather famous in Huatian Palace and was known as the mad man of White Tiger Palace. She hoped that Mo Wen would not offend someone like that because of her.
To Pei Fengwu, Gong Zhangyan was a mad dog who would bite anyone he caught. He was totally unreasonable. Furthermore, he was powerful enough and had a strong backer. There were not many people who could afford to offend him.
With Gong Zhangyan’s reputation in Huatian Palace, she trusted that Mo Wen would have heard of him even if he had never met him. Mo Wen would not do anything too rash. Actually, Pei Fengwu had overestimated Mo Wen. Even though she had now introduced them, Mo Wen still did not know who Gong Zhangyan was.
“Oh, so he is an executor of the White Tiger Palace Hall,” Mo Wen nodded and said blandly. Actually, Pei Fengwu had been thinking too much. He was not interested in fighting with a youth.
“Mo Wen, right? You are a man, so what are you doing standing behind a woman? Follow me later. You must know who I am. You can remain safe if you come with me,” Gong Zhangyan said calmly after glancing at Mo Wen. He had approached them because of what Pei Fengwu said. He had not expected Pei Fengwu to be so concerned about the young man and to invite him to journey with her. He had known Pei Fengwu for many years and have never seen her so concerned about a man.
“Let’s talk again when you can guarantee your own safety. I apologize. It is my business who I chose to travel with. You have thought too much,” Mo Wen said lightly. This young man was so arrogant. He dared to say that he could protect someone’s safety in the Fighting Spirit Tower. Furthermore, Mo Wen really disliked Gong Zhangyan’s tone. However, he no longer had the mentality that would lead him to fight anyone who spoke to him badly.
“Do you mean that you do not agree and want to stay with Pei Fengwu?” Gong Zhangyan’s eyes cooled and his aura turned icy cold. He charged at Mo Wen, showing off his cultivation which was at the intermediate stage of the Golden Elixir Realm. He was trying to put on a show of force.
Gong Zhangyan’s cultivation was even stronger than Pei Fengwu’s. Of the four teams, he was the strongest person. Even Jin Ying was no match for him.
Gong Zhangyan could see that Mo Wen did not have any companions. Otherwise, Pei Fengwu would not have invited him to join her. He would never deign to notice someone who had no background or status, and whose cultivation was just ordinary. He would pulverize those who dared to desire Pei Fengwu and became close to her.
“Gong Zhangyan, enough.” Pei Fengwu’s patience had run out. A stunningly powerful aura radiated from her as she slapped Gong Zhangyan forcefully.
Gong Zhangyan raised his hand subconsciously to attack.
Crack!
Their palms met as their auras spread out across their zone of the altar. The scuffle caught the attention of the warriors in the distance.
“You attacked me for him?” Gong Zhangyan’s eyes grew extremely cold as he looked at Pei Fengwu somewhat incredulously. Pei Fengwu had not said anything before when he dealt with those who got close to her and those who were interested in her. But now, she had attacked him in front of everyone else. Gong Zhangyan’s mood was as cold and wild as a snowstorm.
“It has nothing to do with Mo Wen. Gong Zhangyan, my affairs do not concern you. Mind your own business in the future.” Pei Fengwu took a deep breath and her expression was cold. She had put up with Gong Zhangyan again and again, and she could not bear it any longer.
Mo Wen frowned but did not say anything. He did not know what was going on between Pei Fengwu and Gong Zhangyan, but he could guess that Gong Zhangyan might be targeting him because of Pei Fengwu.
Gong Zhangyan’s expression was extremely dark, and he clenched his fist tightly, making crackling sounds. A rush of cold energy flowed out from him and towards Mo Wen. This man was the reason for Pei Fengwu’s first fight with him. She had even hit him.
Terrifying cold energy swept across the grounds as if it wanted to freeze Mo Wen to death.
