Chapter 934: Layered Waves
Tongming had generated invisible power. He was indeed a warrior from the Peng Lai Immortal Realm. His skills were extraordinary. Mo Wen nodded to himself. Tongming’s attack on him earlier definitely did not make use of any martial arts teachings or secret techniques. It was just a plain attack using his physical body. However, his methods were mystical and amazing. He managed to exude such tremendous power in just the wave of an arm.
Another warrior who had refined his body would probably only know how to use his force bluntly. Even Mo Wen was only at that stage. However, Tongming’s Great Strength Vajrapani Formula was different. It released power in an exquisite manner and could make use of one’s strength to the extreme. Nothing whatsoever went to waste.
If a person was as strong as a bull but his attack was crude and simple, he would only be able to make use of 50% of his effective strength. With Tongming’s power, he could effectively make use of 100% of his strength. Two people could be at the same body refinement realm, but, if they truly battled, the difference between them would be impossible to estimate.
Mo Wen was well aware of that. Even though his body refinement technique was powerful and could even be said to be far beyond that of Tongming, he knew the moment Tongming attacked that he must not underestimate him.
“Benefactor Mo is indeed extraordinary. In that case, I shall not hold back.”
Tongming put his palms together. Mo Wen had managed to block his attack silently and without moving. Tongming knew that Mo Wen would not be easy to handle. As such, he did not hesitate. He took several steps forward until he reached Mo Wen. Each step was quite interesting. It looked as if Tongming had not attacked; but, in actuality, his power had already erupted. Furthermore, his power grew stronger and stronger as it formed more layers with each of his steps.
“Layered Waves!” Mo Wen was stunned. Layered Waves was a power that used high-level knowledge. It sounded simple, but was not remotely so. Those who could use Layered Waves had to have an amazing and precise control over their power. There were numerous warriors who knew Layered Waves, including quite a few in the inner world. However, there were not many who could cultivate Layered Waves to such a high level.
Layered Waves were exactly what their name suggests. They were like waves that followed one after another. Each wave was stronger than the one before, and they raged fiercely and endlessly. Doing Layered Waves in martial arts meant mimicking waves with one’s power. It was endless, as the waves followed one after another. The waves would grow stronger and stronger and, in the end, explode with a power that was many times that of the first one. It could even reach a power level that was 10 times more stronger than the first wave.
Mo Wen knew Layered Waves, too. This sort of power usage technique was very practical and could be used in many different places. Almost all warriors at some point attempted the Layered Waves technique.
However, Mo Wen could only do three Layered Waves. He could make three consecutive waves of power and layer them together before they exploded and created an unparalleled power.
However, Monk Tongming could take ten steps. Each step added a layer to the waves, and their power grew scarier and scarier.
“Ten Layered Waves.”
Mo Wen breathed in deeply. There were many who knew the Layered Waves but most only knew two or three layers. Those who could make Five Layered Waves were already considered to be highly powerful. The higher the number of waves, the more difficult the technique was to execute. Ten Layered Waves was definitely of the level of a high realm.
“Ten Layered Waves. Furthermore, he seems to have no intention of stopping. Monk Tongming is highly skilled in the use of power. Even if Mo Wen doesn’t die, he is going to be badly injured.”
The eys of Hu Shuo, the leader of the Sinister Wind Sect, glinted with sinister joy. Even he was terrified of the power of the Ten Layered Waves. If he were in Mo Wen’s place, he would not dare to go up against Monk Tongming. Mo Wen could not use any other abilities, only the power of his refined body. He would be badly injured even if he did not die.
He did not believe that Mo Wen also knew the Ten Layered Waves. Layered Waves required one to reach a high martial arts teachings realm. Furthermore, one had to practice it over and over again and acc.u.mulate these experiences before one could add layers, one by one, to one’s power. Mo Wen was just a young a**hole. Even though he was incredibly talented, Layered Waves was a great magical power that required hard work to cultivate. Without Tongming’s hard work at cultivating it over several hundred years, Mo Wen could not have managed to do the same.
Forget doing Ten Layered Waves. It would be impressive if Mo Wen could do Two Layered Waves.
“Fighting against someone’s strong point while using his weak point. That kid Mo Wen is really careless. That Monk Tongming is enitrely skilled in body refinement and the usage of power. Mo Wen can only be at a disadvantage competing with Monk Tongming in this area. How can he not lose? I only hope that Monk Tongming does not have any ill intentions. Otherwise, the consequences could be disastrous.”
Chu Yunli frowned tightly. She thought that Mo Wen was definitely no match for Tongming in such a compet.i.tion. That Tongming might have made everything sound nice, but if he had other intentions… After all, that other person had offended too many sects in the Peng Lai Immortal Realm. They did not know if the Golden Buddha Sect had any grudges against them. If Tongming had some ill intentions and suddenly struck a vicious blow against Mo Wen, Mo Wen might not be able to defend himself.
“My young friend Mo Wen, my best move is 13 Layered Waves. I can use all of the power of the Great Strength Vajrapani Formula. Ordinary warriors in the Primordial Soul realm can only release this power if they gave it their all. If you can block this, I will be sincerely convinced and concede defeat. If you cannot, then please dodge it in time.”
Tongming’s voice rang in the air. He had already taken two steps forward in the meantime. The power he was gathering was at its peak.
“Master Tongming, you have great skill. I would also like to test how strong my body is.”
Mo Wen was not shocked, but was pleased instead. He had finally encountered Tongming, a man who had a very powerful refined body. He had no reason to back away. Mo Wen took a step forward toward Tongming.
“Take this! Great Strength Firm Golden Fist!”
Tongming’s power had aggregated to its peak. The arrow was already on the tense bow, and he no choice but to release it He took one final step, and the 13 Layered Waves reached its peak and exploded. The terrifying force caused the surrounding air to shake.
Cras.h.!.+
The two figures collided. They were neck to neck the first time they exchanged blows. The next moment, the two figures came together forcefully and then separated. They exchanged thousands of blows in that brief moment.
Other than those infinite warriors with high cultivation levels, who were just barely able to see what they were doing, the ordinary spectators could only see vague shadows intertwining with each other. The area around the two did not collapse, break apart, and get destroyed like what they imagined. Instead, it was exceptionally calm. There was not even a breeze or any movement at all.
From afar, they could only see two shadows colliding and then parting silently.
“What an amazing use of power. What strong bodies!”
Chu Yunli gasped as she watched the warring pair in the arena. On the surface, there didn’t seem to be any movement between the two. However, those who were in the know watched the skill exchange, while those who were not watched the show. Everyone aware knew that the two were using all their power. Not a single hint of their power was being lost to the outside. That was why everything around them seemed calm.
The warriors who cause strong winds and the collapse of mountains when they fight might not be truly strong. On the contrary, this unadorned and simple display was the most frightening.
“Mo Wen must have cultivated some high-level body refinement technique. Otherwise, his body would not have become so strong with just the vital Qi he absorbed in the primeval world,” Mo Qingge said lightly as she stood in an empty s.p.a.ce.
Baptism in the vital Qi of the primeval world was extraordinary. However, there were limits even to extraordinary things. The effects of the vital Qi were at their best for the first few years. However, as more time pa.s.sed, its effectiveness would decrease. After all, Mo Wen’s resistance to vital Qi grew stronger the longer he stayed in the primeval world. The effects of the baptism in vital Qi would grow weaker and weaker.
If he had not cultivated some high-level body refinement technique, his body would not have become so strong.
“Indeed, that Monk Tongming cannot find Mo Wen’s limits. I fear that he could fight an ordinary warrior in the initial Primordial Soul realm with that body of his.”
Mo Qingtian nodded. He had not expected Mo Wen’s body to be so strong. On the surface, Mo Wen seemed to be on par with Tongming. However, they could see that Mo Wen had not used all his strength. He had not even used half his strength.
“His power is on par with a warrior in the Primordial Soul realm. But that does not mean that he can match up to one of those warriors. However, Mo Wen’s other skills are not bad, either. It would be difficult to say who would win if he were really to fight with a warrior in the Primordial Soul realm.”
Mo Qingge smiled faintly. She still remembered when she first met Mo Wen. He had been no more than a little warrior. In just the blink of an eye, he could already be pitted against a warrior in the Primordial Soul realm.
“Mo Wen might really have the ability to partic.i.p.ate in this year’s International Superpowers Compet.i.tion.” Mo Qingtian shook his head. He had only mentioned it in pa.s.sing way back when, and had never thought that Mo Wen would grow so quickly. The International Superpowers Compet.i.tion was where all those with superpowers from the whole world gathered. Furthermore, there were not many limitations. Anyone who was below the Primordial Soul realm could attend.
Mo Wen was not the only extremely talented person below the Primordial Soul realm. There were quite a few adepts who could kill a warrior in the Primordial Soul realm even though their cultivation was not in that realm itself.
Mo Qingtian knew quite a few of them. For example, the crazy Madman Xiao of the Martial Arts Grandmaster Palace Hall. He was the beloved disciple of Huatian Palace’s grand palace lord, Xiao Hongyu. He grew up at the side of the grand palace lord, and his cultivation was at such a high level that no one knew how high it was. His abilities were far beyond those of an ordinary warrior in the Primordial Soul realm. It was said that he could have broken into the Primordial Soul realm long ago. However, he had forcefully pushed down his cultivation and not broken through so that he could join the International Superpowers Compet.i.tion.
There was also the young master of the Ghost Lair. He was the only son of the Ghost King, Jiang Yan. He had received the best training since he was a child. It was said that he remained below the Primordial Soul realm because he cultivated some sort of secret technique. However, he was very powerful and terrifying. Ordinary warriors in the Primordial Soul realm was no match for him. But, because he cultivated a secret technique, the young master of the Ghost Lair had sealed of a portion of his cultivation. Otherwise, Mo Wen would not have been able to escape the last time he encountered the young master. He would have died long ago, and no one would have even found his ashes.
Other than those two, there were quite a few other remarkable masters.
Of course, that was just in Huaxia Country. There were also impressive characters in the western world. Furthermore, it was easier to pa.s.s on power directly as part of a legacy in the western world – unlike in Huaxia, where one’s legacy was guidance towards improvement. As such, some of the talents in the western world were even scarier.
For example, Yao Yu of the Demon G.o.ds Alliance was an unfathomable character. Huatian Palace still could not figure out where she was from. However, this woman was definitely no ordinary person. There was also that Stunning Snow from the G.o.ds Alliance. She was a Sacred Maiden candidate chosen by the Sacred Palace who had accepted the highest level of legacy. She did not showcase much of her power, but, when she was forced to, the extent of her terrifying ability was beyond imagination.
As such, with Mo Wen’s current abilities, he could only barely cross the threshold to partic.i.p.ate in the International Superpowers Compet.i.tion. Before today, Mo Qingtian would never have thought that Mo Wen could partic.i.p.ate in it.
“The International Superpowers Compet.i.tion?” Mo Qingge smiled faintly. “Given his current abilities, it would not be difficult for me to get him a spot in it. Furthermore, Mo Wen has always worked miracles. Who knows whether he can become even more powerful before the Compet.i.tion?”
