For the catalysis of the summon, Neo made a core with a magic stone, a gnome essence, a sprite essence, and finally, some blood from an elf ranger girl and a beastgirl warrior.

He wanted an elemental spirit with a strong affinity to both earth and plants. The earth affinity for toughness, and coupled with the warrior blood to increase close combat apt.i.tude. The plant affinity for easier travel through forested areas, and coupled with the ranger blood to increase scouting apt.i.tude. A good protector and pathfinder. The blood of the girl was mostly to get a human-like body. In Kamidori Alchemist Meister, Ath was basically made of earth and mud; Neo wanted a spirit with a flesh body instead of a mud and wood body, like the dryad Crayanne.

He got what he wanted, and a bit more.

He decided to perform the summoning ritual in a nearby usable building. Having finished to trace the summoning circle, he placed the catalysis at its center. He was wary of the mana cost of the summoning, so the external part of the circle was made to draw mana from the land and nature to support him if he turned out to be lacking. There was a section in that outer ring where he would have to stand as the summoner, and moved there.

Neo took a deep breath, and entered a light state of meditation. He channeled a bit of his magic in the summoning circle, starting the ritual.

The circle glowed a soft blue, which slowly increased in intensity as more and more mana was absorbed. Neo"s spiritual awarness expanded through the summoning circle, and became vaguely aware of numerous fleeting presences in a plane different than his own. It was so faint he barely noticed it. Having reached that state, Neo spoke the incantation he prepared for the ritual. It wasn"t necessary, but he felt it would increase the chances of having the kind of spirit he desired.

"I, Neo Vishvar, call for a companion to follow me in my travels and adventures. An a.s.sistant to help me in my everyday tasks. A sentinel and guardian to defend me and mine. Heed my call and come forth."

The drain on his magic increased, and the glow of the summoning circle became brighter. He felt his mana reserve reaching critical levels, and mentally pated himself on the back for thinking of draining natural mana as well. He also felt a presence with a kind nature being attracted to him, and after a few seconds, answering his call.

There was a final surge of mana and a flash of light so bright it nearly blinded him despite having his eyes closed. His mana pool was completly emptied and he got very dizzy. He felt himself fall to his knees, and his face would have crashed on the stone floor if not for the firm hands holding him by the shoulders, and the twin soft b.a.l.l.s which caught his face.

It took a moment to realise that his face was deep in a warm, generous, nice smelling chest. That startled him and he tried to move backward, but the girl holding him was embracing him, and he was still a bit dizzy. She said something, but even his hearing was numb, and he barely heard her, let alone understanding whant she said. He at least remembred that he had tried to summon a spirit, and she was likely trying to take care of him, so he relaxed and waited until he had recovered. It took a minute, but he was finally able to move on his own.

"Are you feeling better, master?"

"Master? Wait, english?"

For the first time since her arrival, Neo properly looked at the girl he had summoned.

She had a hourgla.s.s and curvy figure clad in a white, one piece, short sleeves uniform dress reaching above the knees. There was a slit at the front of each tight. It had a green vertical band in the middle, and a white zipper at the center. She had green tight lenght boots with steel shin guards, and short steel wrist bracers. Her face was heart shaped, with almond green eyes, an average nose and small lips. She had long hairs as green as her eyes, tied in short twintails on each side of her face, and a ponytail at her back. She was pretty, and had a kind and relaxed air.

"What the f.u.c.k!!!"

Neo was stunned. He expected to see a creature from Kamidori Alchemist Meister, or something close to that belonging to the new world he was in. Instead, he got something, someone, from a different visual novel. A game character from a game in his favourite game folder. He had summoned Halion, the lovely green spirit from Eien No Aselia. Even though there were differences between the game ill.u.s.trations and reality, he couldn"t have mistaken her for someone else.

"Master?" she asked as she tilted her head with a curious expression on her face.

"Cute... Wait!" "Ah, yeah. I"m fine. I just needed a bit of time to recover from the ritual. My name is Neo Vishvar. What is yours?"

"My name is Halion. Nice to meet you master."

"Likewise." "I knew it!!"

As he looked at the girl, he realised that she didn"t have any weapons. All spirits from Eien no Aselia had a sentient weapon that was bonded to them at birth: the Eternity Swords, even though they don"t always take the form of swords. Green spirits like Halion were often wielding spears.

"Wait. It"s probably isn"t bad. Eternity swords consume the mind of their wielders. Without hers, she won"t be at risk of becoming an empty puppet. Besides, I can have her swap weapons depending on the opponent, like in Kamidori."

"Well, Halion. The world we currently are in is a mystery to me. I arrived in this world several days ago, and I haven"t met a single living person. The village we are currently in was raided shortly before I got in, and there were no survivors. From what little I gathered from the ruins, the language used is different from mine. I"m quite reluctant to go anywhere, or meet anyone without someone at my side who speak my language and whom I can trust. That"s why I summoned you."

"Ara, then worry no further master. I will serve you and protect you to the best of my abilities."
