Chapter 2.2Audria was struck dumb by surprise when she found out who it was during the a.s.sault. It was her siblings, Amy and Noel who targeted her. In the end Audria was driven to the edge of the cliff defenselessly. She couldn"t see anything as her eyes were covered, but she knew where she was when she felt the breeze on her feel.
When she was pushed forcefully from the edge of the cliff, in the brief moment before she crashed, countless thoughts flashed behind her eyes. Her life, the moments when she just wanted to give up and die, the moments when it felt that death was chasing her, when she was starving due to hunger…
She was not lucky at all. Chief among these thoughts was that she was most unlucky when it came to family.
Audria consciousness, which was almost completely lost, returned faintly. Her surroundings were pitch-black and she wanted to call out for help when she heard someone weeping beside her.
“Has someone informed the Duchy of Trudy?” someone was saying with a cry. But her voice did not come out. It was locked as if it hadn"t been used for a long time.
“What shall we do if she really doesn"t get up?” The unknown woman"s sobbing continued.
Audria was crying on the inside but her voice refused to come out and her body didn"t move as if someone had put a boulder over it. At that moment, there was only one thought in Audria"s head.
"Why am I unlucky wherever I go?"
Audria wanted to close her eyes again. Even though she almost died on the road, she didn"t want to hear this sound anymore. It felt terrible to be abandoned. At one point in time Audria despised the act of crying itself. She didn"t like crying herself or others crying in front of her. People used to say that she was made of iron instead of flesh and blood, but she used to ignore it.
“But it will be so sad if this child never wakes up.”
“She will wake up! So stop sounding ominous!” The sound of weeping continued without a break. There was a reason that Audria loathed crying. There was a time during the beginning of those long and difficult 10 years where she used to cry every night, to an extent that she used to cry herself to sleep.
And now as soon as she was able to live again after surviving her sure death, this weeping and wailing was the first thing that she heard. It made her anxious as if it was heralding dreadful portents in the future.
She didn"t want to listen to the weeping anymore.
But at that moment, there was no way to stop hearing those loud voices. Since that was the case she"d rather go on like this. If she closed her eyes she"d just lose consciousness again. It was not a big deal.
Just when Audria was about to lose consciousness again by closing her eyes.
“Y-Young Lady?”
“Yella what is it this time?”
So the name of the woman who was weeping before was Yella. She turned around just in time to see that Audria had opened her eyes.
“Mrs. Meryl! Look at the lady! I think she"s awake! She said excitedly. Meryl, a middle-aged woman who had comforted and reprimanded Yella was soon by her side.
“Yella… what…. My Lady!” she exclaimed in great surprise and hurried over swiftly. There was a little bit of fuss and then suddenly Meryl and Yella"s faces appeared above her face. Both their eyes were reddened. Moreover, Yella"s eyes which had just stopped crying began to moisten again.
And soon, the tears that formed slowly fell on Audria"s face. Audria sincerely hoped that the two of them would calm down and move away a bit and give her some s.p.a.ce, but on seeing their emotional and sorrowful faces, she did not think that it would be happening anytime soon.
“Miss… Are you feeling sick?”
“Lady it"s good to have you back!”
“Miss, if you"re okay, please blink your eyes once”
When Audria blinked, Yella burst into tears again “Thank G.o.d! I"m so glad that you"re back with us Miss! Do you know how worried I was?!”
“Yella. You need to relax, the lady has just woken up and she needs to rest. How long are you going to cry?” Meryl was scolding Yella but looked very happy at the same time.
“I"m sorry, Miss. It is just that I am so happy! I am sorry for making a fuss my lady.”
“I"d like to call a doctor for a medical examination, my lady. Is that okay with you?” Meryl calmly interjected and asked Audria.
Though she was feeling uncomfortable and her body felt so heavy that it was difficult to move and also the fact that her voice refused to come out of her locked throat. But since there was nothing else wrong with her other than aforementioned facts, Audria shook her head instead of answering.
Soon after that, a doctor arrived and looked over Audria. He made her open her mouth, to take her temperature and then gave a complete body check-up.
Meryl and Yella who had been watching anxiously by her side throughout her examination, focused their gazes on the doctor when he opened his mouth
“Except for a slight case of dehydration, she is fine"
“She was unconscious and on the verge of dying for a few days. It could"ve been much worse.”
