Chapter 33: I’ve got this Ancestor’s back (4)

Lu Deng was silent for a moment. He turned the brambles back into seeds, turned his wrist and put them back in his palm.

A warm expression stole over Gu Ting’s face and he leaned over and kissed his forehead. He needed to guard his little prey. He hid the other behind him and turned towards the covetous vampire at the corner of the street.

Intense inky-black power flowed out of his body. Almost without any warning, it was already bearing down toward the vampire staring covetously on the corner of the street.

The pit of his stomach sank. His show of power instantly provoked the powerful seal to counterattack, opening a pale golden barrier on his blood core. Together with the scant sunlight in the dusky sky, the long meager power he had was quickly consumed.

Despite the sudden pressure, Gu Ting’s expression hardly changed. He he raised one hand and majestically brought down the mighty and awe-inspiring power belonging to a high-ranking vampire. The lone vampire suddenly revealed intense fear.

“I’m hungry now, don’t tempt me into hunting you.”

His strength was being rapidly depleted at double the speed and Gu Ting was already sensing a strong emptiness between his chest and abdomen. His eyes turned a threatening blood red and his voice turned cold.

The vampires feed on humans and it was sustainable to obtain their power from them. But hunting between vampires will only end when one party is completely deprived of power.

The second generation vampires have fallen into eternal sleep and there are very few third generation purebloods. Vampires always valued seniority and there weren’t many juniors who would dare to disobey him, not when they already know his ident.i.ty.

Knowing his own situation full well, Gu Ting resolved to make this a quick fight and unreservedly released his strength.

Greed was finally completely overwhelmed by fear. The look on the lone vampire’s face gradually changed. He hesitated and took few steps back before turning around and quickly sinking into the darkening night.

The senses of vampires were far more acute than that of human beings and even the slightest flaw will be discovered. Even though the other party had already retreated, Gu Ting still probed his aura. Seeing that he had indeed gradually fled away, he finally relaxed slightly.

“Okay, it’s fine now…”

Gu Ting breathed a sigh of relief. He was about to turn around and console the little prey hiding behind him when something encircled his body..

Coming to a stop because of the arm obstructing his body, Gu Ting raised his gaze. Lu Huaiye’s figure was already standing in front of him. The chaste berry plant in his hand thrust firmly against the chest of the uninvited guest in front of him.

The face of the person he was pressing against was slightly darkened. In his hand, he was still holding onto a super particle disintegration carbonization gun. The muzzle was originally aimed at Gu Ting’s left chest but was now completely blocked by Lu Huaiye.

“Huaiye.”

Seeing the other party’s clothes, Gu Ting’s heart sank slightly and he raised his hand to pull him.

They were people from the Special Service Office.

These people always felt that he would turn violent and hurt people at any second. They were just itching to aim a gun at him. They had never had a favorable impression of him and he had always been too lazy to pay them any mind.

Lu Huaiye had never explicitly said his true ident.i.ty but it was almost certain that he came from the Special Service Office. Now that Lu Huaiye had rashly raised his hand against his colleague for Gu Ting’s sake, he might be punished by the Special Service Office.

He didn’t know if his strength had been depleted too much or Lu Huaiye’s strength was too strong, all of a sudden, he unexpected couldn’t pull himself away. Gu Ting’s figure staggered a bit and Lu Huaiye raised his hand to support him, leaning over, showing the greatest degree of conscientiousness and respect.

“Father.”

He shouldn’t be called ‘Father’.

The pure-blooded ancestor’s back suddenly went rigid. He was so shocked his heart nearly started beating again. The dizziness caused by his lack of power was instantly disappeared.

Fortunately, the next moment, the warm body leaned against his chest. His a.s.sistance clearly appeared respectful in the eyes of outsiders. Lu Huaiye pressed his hand behind Gu Ting’s back and gave it a couple of gentle pats.

“Compulsory Vampire Studies 101” Chapter 39, Article 6, Appendix 2. When the patrilineal vampire ancestor is in life-threatening danger, the offspring must take action to protect the other.

Realizing that Lu Huaiye was disguising his ident.i.ty in front of these people, Gu Ting calmed down a bit. Borrowing his strength, he slowly stood up straight and he placed his arm behind his little prey who was pretending to be his offspring.

Hearing Lu Huaiye’s words, the agent’s expression eased slightly. He swept his gaze past him, as though he was completely unfamiliar with him and looked at Gu Ting. “This is your offspring?”

They remembered that the agent sent to Gu Ting was indeed pretending to be his descendant. If he attacked his colleagues because he needed to hide his ident.i.ty then Lu Huaiye didn’t need to be punished or subjected to disciplinary action for the time being.

“It hasn’t been long since he’d been converted and he doesn’t have much power. Your good office need not trouble yourselves to worry about him.”

These people had simply noticed the fluctuation in his power and had come to check his seal. A perfunctory check was already enough.

Gu Ting replied in a low voice and gathered the person in his arms once again. He didn’t permit Lu Huaiye to show his face. His fingertips combed through the ends of his hair, slowly stroking the soft short hair of the little human in his arms.

Being so intimate with one’s offspring, the vampires were indeed an incomprehensible race.

Impatience flashed in the agent’s eyes. He moved the muzzle of the gun, signaling Gu Ting to show the seal-bearing implements and accept its review and confirmation.

He undid his collar with one hand. Lu Deng raised his head from between his arms and looked at the seal Gu Ting had taken out. His eyes suddenly narrowed.

It was the Pingan Kou.

The fine, smooth wood hadn’t changed at all. The only possible change was that it was worn even glossier from frequent stroking. It lay quietly on Gu Ting’s palm, revealing strong power fluctuations.

There were some very special items that could accompany them in different ways. In the last world, Gu Chuanbai wore the Ning Shenmu as a protective amulet that had been handed down in his family. This time it actually turned into a seal that confined the other party.

In order to let system staff members understand the plot in the shortest amount of time, every time, the plot contents would be directly poured into their minds in the form of pictures. He distinctly remembered that on the yacht, due to the heightened tension of the Special Service Office agent who was responsible for monitoring Gu Ting, when Gu Ting burst out with power, the agent instinctively pulled the trigger without even confirming the situation.

It was this gun.

If he hadn’t been constrained by the seal, Gu Ting would have been able to avoid it.

His power had come out unconsciously, almost completely degrading this piece of Ning Shenmu. The hand Gu Ting used to hold him suddenly tightened slightly. With the Pingan Kou in hand, he withdrew his hand, avoiding the outstretched hand of the agent charged with inspecting the seal.

“You know my rules,” Gu Ting said.

To live in harmony with mankind, one must accept a seal on one’s body. The seal was directly imposed on an item that they already had. If it was placed elsewhere, he could wear it symbolically for a couple of days and then he could just throw it away.

But it happened to be set on this pendant and no matter what, he was unwilling to part with it.

“He wants to give that to his fiancée. No one is allowed to touch it.”

The officer in charge has had several dealings with this third-generation vampire and has been forced to compromise on many bizarre rules of etiquette. He frowned and explained impatiently. He took the detector and said, “I’ll do it.”

A high-ranking vampire could easily kill humans if it goes berserk. Although he was coming in close, he still didn’t dare put down his gun. Step by step, he looked at the agent who, from start to end, had stood in front of the gun and said in a low tone of voice, “Have your offspring step aside.”

“Huaiye, it’s okay.”

Seeing Lu Huaiye’s intention, Gu Ting spoke softly. He gently stroked the top of his hair and then hid his little prey behind him.

Lu Huaiye didn’t resist him. Although he was hidden behind him, Lu Huaiye still held Gu Ting’s hand tightly. He seemed to be particularly wary of the gun, ready to pull Gu Ting away at any time.

Gu Ting smiled helplessly and comfortingly squeezed his hand.

Although the agent had the gun pointed at him the whole time, Gu Ting didn’t think these people would really dare to pull the trigger. The fear and dread of predators was an instinct common to almost all races. He had no intention of bothering about this matter. He simply handed over the pendant in his hand.

The detector remotely swept over the pendant and it made a sound indicating that the seal was intact.

Confirming that the seal had not been broken by the burst of power, the agent finally breathed a sigh of relief. Loathe to stay even moment longer, he put away the detector, jumped onto the patrol ship and their group left in an instant.

The strength in his arms suddenly disappeared.

Lu Deng looked up, but Gu Ting just grabbed his back and pressed lightly, “It’s okay, let’s go home.”

The energy in the body was already extremely low. He couldn’t eat in front of these people and he has to control himself from being driven crazy by his hunger. This kind of feeling was really uncomfortable.

Lu Deng nodded in his arms and propped him up. They quickly went back to the suspended car and hurried back to the villa.

With much effort, he helped Gu Ting to sit down in the suspended car. Gu Ting’s consciousness was already a little fuzzy but he still gently pushed Lu Deng away. He walked slowly to the back of the car and sat down.

When they were hungry, their senses were infinitely magnified. With hardly any effort, he could distinctly smell the extremely alluring scent from Lu Huaiye’s body. He could see the very subtle pulsations of his carotid artery and could even hear the blood rushing through his body.

But they had just established their relationship. By human standard, if he were to jump him now in the suspended car, he would be moving a bit too fast.

He’ll do it when they get home.
