Keys To The Gate

Chapter 31

"But the government should know about this." Tina said. "Such an important event, if the government learns about it, it will help in the future."

Tristan shook his head. Joanna and Emily didn"t know what to say. Tristan thought for a bit before saying. "The government has its place to deal with some things. But there are some things, the more people know, the more harmful it would be. There are some things the government is not qualified to know."

"And you are?" Tina retorted.

"Did I have a choice in the matter? I was involved in it, but I know that telling more people will not only be dangerous for humans, but especially dangerous for us." Tristan sighed.

The whole matter between Angels, Dark Angels and Demons was too convoluted. He didn"t expect the remnant of the seventh civilization to have such an involvement with these three races as well as Tea Master. What about the Totem G.o.d?

Tristan was thinking about the last sentence Lucifer left Tristan before disappearing. "Find out about the past of your humanity. It is quite interesting."

Was Lucifer talking about past civilizations? He wasn"t sure what Lucifer meant, but just the past of the seventh ancient civilization was so far reaching in effects, what about the others?

The next day, Tristan, dressed as White Star was sitting in the headquarters of the Vast Expanse, in an isolated conference room. Along with him in the room were several individuals. Forever Shadow and Liu Daobai from the Government, Heavy Matter and First Pa.s.s, an elder from the Vast Expanse, as well as four other people, one each from each of the other guilds.

Tristan looked at Heavy Matter who a.s.sured him that this was a trustworthy audience.

Tristan began speaking. "The ruin belonged to an ancient civilization. To be precise, it is a ruin which belongs to the seventh civilization since the dawn of humanity on Earth."

The Alchemist Elder looked shocked. "So there were indeed multiple Ancient Civilizations."

White Star nodded. "The Seventh Civilization was extremely powerful, a much bigger hegemony than our own civilization and a major threat to other worlds. They trained in and specialized into a narrow stream of innate talents known as totem powers."

Forever Shadow nodded. "So this ruin belonged to the Totem Civilization."

"So you are aware of it. Then are you in knowledge of the reason such a hegemonic civilization went extinct?" White Star asked.

Forever Shadow shook his head, while others narrowed their eyes.

"In the ruin, I made use of an item I acquired to gain control of the ruin"s mainframe. Which meant I also came across the information about why this civilization fell. I felt, that spreading this information further would simply create a threat to the human race and our current civilization, should the knowledge leak. This is why, I destroyed the ruin." White Star said with a heavy voice.

"You mean... the reason behind the end of the Totem Civilization still exists and could become a threat to our own civilization?" Heavy Matter asked.

"Yes. Thus it is imperative that humans would not learn the ability to create totems again and thus I nipped it in the bud." Tristan said.

"You are underestimating our strength. We have powerful forces, knowing more techniques will only help us grow stronger and deter that threat." The Martial Alliance and War Conference representatives said.

Tristan shook his head. "I remember you folks being stunned into submission by the heart of Undying Live Forever"s clone. The threat I am speaking of is much beyond that level. If I thought what I learnt would be useful I would have sold it for benefits. There is no benefit to me holding it to myself."

Forever Shadow was stunned. "The totem civilization was destroyed due to a G.o.d level threat?"

Tristan nodded. "It is best if this word never goes out. Now, within the data I harvested, there is still a lot of things that would be useful and I am willing to trade for them."

Heavy Matter agreed along with the others.

"This is the first item. It is a data crystal which contains the study of plates, how to condense plates, how to test for plates, how to distinguish quality of plates and how talents are related to the formation of plates. Any information related to totems has been purged. Please do not offer money, I do not lack money."

"This is very valuable research. Can we have a look at the kind of data it contains?" An elder of the mage tower asked.

Tristan nodded and soon a hologram popped out, showing an introduction of the research.

"This...! Just how advanced was the Seventh Civilization? The theory of plates is so deep? This might overturn a lot of our conceptions." The Mage Tower elder sighed.

Tristan agreed with the mage"s a.s.sessment. "It would be best if the six organizations make a combined offer. This data can help the human race as a whole."

Soon, Tristan received six objects, one from each guild. All were items the system identified and could be absorbed as well.

[Alloyed Lily], [Burning Nectar], [s.p.a.ce Tar], [Rage of the Spirit General], [Splitter Aura] and [Frost Limit] were the six items he received from the six guilds. They were items that Tristan could absorb using his system to gain progress.

Then Tristan presented the second data crystal. "This contains a Virtual Reality engine where one can engage in battles with all recorded Totem Warriors. It can be used as a training program with similar effects to the War Conference"s Combat Tower."

This time, it was a bidding war instead of a combined bid, each organization wanted to control this kind of warrior training tool.

In the end, the Vast Expanse actually won the bid, offering Tristan a unique item. Tristan received a token to try the Pressure Stairway and temper his body and mind. The Pressure Stairway was N exclusive treasure belonging to the Vast Expanse that takes a huge amount of energy to run, it is an ancient device used to temper human body.
