Mom returned to the room to see Tristan sitting alone. "Where is you friend?" She asked."She"s gone." Tristan said as he fell asleep on the couch.
Mom shook her head. "Kids..." She said.
Tristan spent the day at home. In the evening he received a call from an unknown number on his White Star contact.
"White Star? I am calling you on behalf of the Beast blood sect." The person on the call reported.
"Beast blood sect elder? What is the matter?" Tristan asked.
"We had promised you an opportunity in the Beast Illusion Array Trial of our Sect. Our Sect leader wishes to know if you would like to attempt the trial anytime this week." The elder said.
"Is there any particular reason it must be this week?" Tristan asked.
"The trial is used to test our own younger generation once in two years, so the major array is activated in this week." The elder said.
"Okay, I will be there tomorrow, then." Tristan agreed. He had been intending to go to the Beast blood sect to claim his opportunity in exchange for the blood essence of Sirius, the legendary dog, but had always been busy with one thing or another.
The next day, on the first day of the biennial ceremony where the youth generation of the Beast Blood Sect would be tested, White Star appeared at the entrance of the sect.
The Beast Blood Sect was far away from Coastal City, hidden within a forest in central region of the country. Tristan made his way there using a portal at the Vast expanse headquarters in the city.
Within the youth of the Beast blood sect, White Star was somewhat notorious. He had made some name recently, but had again fallen silent the last couple of months. They were eager to see what king of individual, White Star was.
When White Star arrived, he was greeted by an elder and taken to a guest area, overlooking the combat compet.i.tion of the juniors partic.i.p.ating this year. There were other guests present here as well, elites from other powers who had purchased opportunities to try the trial.
The others looked at him, with curiosity, but when trying to a.n.a.lyze White Star, all they could see was a complete lack of presence. White Star ignored the gazes and quietly sat down, waiting for the compet.i.tion to end and then the Beast Illusion Array Trial to begin.
After an hour the compet.i.tion had ended and the final 16 youth had been selected. Now, they would join the 10 guests who had been invited in partic.i.p.ating in the week long trial.
White Star, as well as the other guests soon arrived at the arena and were led along with the students to the location of the trial.
The Beast Illusion Array was a huge array that covered an entire mountain. The group had to enter the array through a cave in the mountain and they would then under go a sequence of trials in the illusion world.
Upon activation, the group of 26 entered the cave. Immediately, Tristan realized that he had been isolated from the other people.
The world changed, and Tristan had arrived in a area where everything was white. There was no floor to stand on. Tristan was simply... there.
Suddenly an eye appeared in front of him. The eye focused on Tristan. Then Tristan"s mind went blank and he began walking towards the eye. As he began walking, a path appeared underneath his feet, images began to appear and the world changed.
Tristan found himself in the bookstore. High School was in its last year and he was hoping to save some money. It was late and Tristan began walking home, and he saw his sister and his parents look at him in fear.
He asked them why they were afraid, but his family only shrieked when they looked at him. "Monster!" Joanna said as she took a broom and tried to push Tristan away.
"Don"t you recognize me?" Tristan asked However, his family only continued to look at him in fear. "Call the police! Monster!" Mom shrieked.
Tristan was confused and horrified. He ignored his family members in the corner and walked into his room. There, he was stunned. There was a person sleeping in his own bed. The person was none other than Tristan.
The other Tristan got up and looked at Tristan. He then had a cruel smile on his face as he pointed his finger towards the mirror in the room. Tristan, who was confused looked into the mirror to find that he didn"t look human at all, but a kind of horrifying beast with human characteristics. Slime was oozing from his sides and his body was covered in scales, while his eyes were very large and his tongue snake like. He was stunned, but then in his heart he remembered something.
"This isn"t real." Tristan calmly said and the image shattered. Tristan was in front of the eye. He had been walking towards the eye earlier in a daze, but now he stopped.

"What exactly is this trial?" Tristan wondered. The eye blinked.
Then the world changed. Tristan was a beast, shaped like a gazelle. He was galloping across an infinite savanna, when he saw a group of huge and powerful lion like creatures run crazily behind him, in an attempt to capture him.
Tristan had only one word in his mind. Run, run as fast as you can. So he ran. His legs burned, his heart ached and his breathing was erratic, but he ran. But then he stopped and shook his head. "This is also not real." Tristan said before the image crashed and once again, Tristan found himself in front of the eye.
"There is something wrong with this eye." Tristan said aloud. "What kind of trial is this? What is the purpose?" Once again the image changed.
This continued for some time, where Tristan was put into different situations where he was some kind of beast, but each time some quirk or behavior would remind him that this wasn"t him and he would break out of it.
The huge eye which kept putting him into illusions became more and more eccentric. Tristan still didn"t understand the purpose of this trial. "What exactly is being tested?" He thought again.
