Keys To The Gate

Chapter 29

Tristan was puzzled about two things in this world. Where the monsters sp.a.w.ned from and shy did the tunnel go on without any feeling of progress?

After resting, the group debated returning or continuing. The group decided to continue. Tristan again went to the back and allowed the other three to fight. Meanwhile he was prodding the Crystallized Earth Milk with his aura, trying to damage it, but surprisingly, it couldn"t be damaged much.

He was thinking about the tunnel. He speculated if the tunnel was really infinitely long, or was it actually an illusion? He had done tests to check if it was an illusion and it didn"t seem to be one. Then, could it be a s.p.a.cial wonder? The s.p.a.ce stretching at a corresponding length as much as we travel could correspond to an infinite tunnel.

Thinking about that, if the s.p.a.ce expanded according to how they moved, if they attempted a spatial distortion, it would mess up with the expansion and cause the wonder to collapse. With this hint, Tristan silently tried short range teleportation for a millimeter and immediately felt the world tremoring before his eyes as if it would fall apart. He had found the answer to the cave.

"Everyone, please wait a moment. I want to try something." Tristan suddenly said as he took out a relocation scroll.

"Relocation scroll? We are in a different world, it can"t send us back." Tina said.

"I don"t need it to send us back." Tristan said with a smile as he put it on the ground and took out a small low quality energy stone to activate it. "I need it to send us forward."

As the relocation scroll glowed, the entire s.p.a.ce around the tunnel began rippling with terrifying ferocity until the s.p.a.ce began shredding completely and suddenly the entire sight changed. From a tunnel with no end, they could now see that the tunnel was clearly different and the end was not far away, where a small well seemed to be located. Tristan smiled.

"This.. what did you do?" Emily asked.

"I found the loophole." Tristan said simply. "Let"s go to the end, may be we can find something interesting."

The group walked to the end, this time with no obstructions, nor any beasts. Tristan still didn"t figure out where the beasts came from and indeed the well wanted to know the same thing.

A huge voice exploded from the well. "You solved the easy bit, now tell me the hard bit. Where did the beasts come from?"

The other three didn"t even know how they broke free of the tunnel in the first place.

"May be the beasts were all illusions?" Tina wondered.

"Nonsense! I am asking the one who solved the easier question." The voice exploded out in anger, snorting loudly.

Tristan thought for a bit. He didn"t know, but when he saw how dark the well was... he thought of something. A concept from the ordinary world, Newton"s third law, conservation of energy, particle anti particle pairs...

"Nothing. The beasts came from nothing." Tristan said.

"Explain" The voice said, but it was obviously a little gentler.

"The beasts were create something from nothing, something of equal value must be destroyed from nothing. If I am not wrong, this well is the gateway to the mirror dimension. Someone who controls the gateway could create identical things on both sides yet still change nothing." Tristan sighed.

The voice stayed silent for some time. "Kid, having a bright mind is a good thing, but finding out too much is not necessarily always good." But then the voice went on. "Don"t worry, I asked you to answer it myself. You are very good. Do you want something?"

"I...No I do not want anything." Tristan said.

"You...how unfortunate for me that the first person to find me is also the least likely to take the bait. Did you already know?" The voice asked.

"I did not know for sure, but now I am certain. Being a gatekeeper to the Mirror Dimension... is not a choice." Tristan said. Emily had chills on her back when she understood what Tristan said.

"Can you do me a favor?" The voice spoke.

"Depends on the request." Tristan said.

"Find my Karma and bring it to me." The voice whispered.

"Your Karma?...Wait... you are Lucifer, the angel that revolted against the G.o.d of Angels?" Tristan asked. What heavenly luck was this. He had received the object [Lucifer"s Karma] some time back from Emily and then learnt about Lucifer.

"Are you a G.o.d? Or a clairvoyant? How do you know everything?" The voice asked with a happy laugh. "Yes, I am that Lucifer. Unless you identified me, it is impossible to disclose who I am."

"What does your Karma do?" Tristan asked while keeping a plain face.

"It is useless for others, after all, the karma belongs to me. But if you bring me the karma, I can use it to seal the Mirror Dimension forever and escape this infinitude of bondage."Lucifer said.

"I don"t believe a shred of that sentence." Tristan said with a tone that implied how ridiculous that statement was.

Lucifer did not speak. He was at a really desperate moment. Years of solitude had turned him crazy. And he doubted if he would ever get another opportunity like this again, when someone as clever as this young man would be able to decipher this trap the G.o.d of angels devised for his prison.

"I will tell you the use of the karma... but..." Lucifer wanted to continue but Tristan stopped him. "I can just give the karma to the G.o.d of angels if I ever find it. Don"t put conditions to me." Tristan said. Once he learnt that he was talking to Lucifer, he was more confident of his safety and thus became more brazen.
