Keys To The Gate

Chapter 55

The next day Tristan arrived at the gathering point to leave for the Academy"s Secret World. The freshmen students from the Special Community went to the bas.e.m.e.nt in an orderly manner and used the portal to arrive in front of a s.p.a.ce crack.

Neffy announced a few warnings. "Always stick together in groups, the secret world has been completely explored and tamed, so just don"t get lost."

Then they all entered the s.p.a.ce crack and arrived in the new world. This was a very unique world with no clearly defined atmosphere. The sky is white in color with absolutely no changes or dispersion. The ground was actually a mirror and reflected the sky"s color, which made it hard to distinguish anything.

However, in the world there were several paths, trees and other forms of life. Tristan found this world very peculiar. The students were handed a map each. Tristan was touching objects all around to see if the system found anything interesting.

Tristan walked behind the group, extremely slow as usual. Observing and doc.u.menting everything. Neffy stopped leading. "Okay, there are multiple divergent paths from here, you all can choose a path and explore. But be in groups.

Tristan didn"t choose any path, simply stood there looking at the sky. Neffy looked at him. "Why aren"t you exploring?" she asked.

"I am, I am." Tristan said and followed the group a random path from the area. The paths were slowly diverging further and further away, and as Tristan walked forward, he felt the white light glowing more and more brighter.

Further away the path began becoming indistinguishable... in one particular group, four people were walking around together. They were the freshmen students Emily, Arthur, new student Andrea and the Aura wielder Bennett.

"This is so boring." Emily sighed.

"It is indeed uneventful." Arthur said.

"I feel it is very exciting and mysterious." Andrea said. "I just joined this community yesterday and we are travelling today."

Bennett was quiet. He was feeling unnerved by this place. Then he soon spotted a blip in the distance. "Hey guys, I can see there is something there." He pointed at the thing.

"It looks like a house." Arthur guessed. "Let"s take a look."

"Wait, if we are leaving the path, we should leave a signal." Andrea said. She took out a red chalk and wrote into the mirror like ground the names of the people in the group as well as an arrow pointing to the direction they went.

The four then left the path and walked towards the hut in the distance. The was very small and looked dilapidated. Arthur remained vigilant, as the four slowly approached the house.

The house was breaking apart, it was made of wood, but the wood seemed to be tied together by rope, which was losing its structural integrity.

Emily knocked on the door, but there was no response. She knocked again and this time the door opened. When the four looked inside, Andrea was shocked. "Ghosts!"

Bennett shook his head and explained. "Andrea, that isn"t a ghost, but rather it is a spirit."

The spirit was sitting on the ground, meditating calmly inside the house. It was a spirit in the form of a harmless old man. He opened his eyes, which had a hypnotic look to them.

"Freshmen students?" The spirit asked, to which Arthur nodded vigilantly.

"Oh, don"t have to be so vigilant. I am a teacher in your school. You can call me White Wine."

"Teacher White...?" Emily asked, still being vigilant. "I haven"t seen you at the university?"

White Wine laughed. "I take my cla.s.ses here, within this secret world. Though, I haven"t taught in a few years, I"ve been retreating here to obtain a mental breakthrough.

You have found me in this barren world, so you can ask me some questions or advice."

Bennett nodded, displaying his aura art as well as the conflict between the art and the characteristic of the aura.

White Wine nodded. "You can either temper the aura to gradually change the characteristic or find an aura art with pierce characteristics. If you want to temper your aura I can provide you with an exercise."

Similarly he was giving the other students tips, he looked at Arthur and Andrea and smiled. "You two are amazingly talented. If you are willing I would teach you a mental energy art to attack by creating illusions."

Arthur looked excited and nodded, while Andrea looked at others and saw them cheering her, she too accepted the offer.

In another area of the World, Tristan had long since left the paths and was walking randomly, until he found a tree. The tree had golden bark and its branches were moving around, as if dancing. On the bark, he saw a horrifying face with sharp jagged cuts for a mouth and evil eyes.

The tree looked at Tristan and made a shriek like a woman who had been frightened. Tristan was dumbfounded. "What in the dimensions are you supposed to be?" Tristan asked.

The weird tree continued shrieking and its branches dancing. Tristan tried to touch the bark to see if the system told him anything because even his inheritance of botany failed him at this moment.

Tristan tried to touch it, but the arms of the tree came to slap him whenever he came near, so Tristan kept dodging and grumbling. Finally he gritted and went to touch the tree but to his shock he fell right through the tree to the other side.

"What the... illusion? No, it is an energy being." Suddenly Tristan felt a blast of energy from the eye of the tree and it blasted him away a few meters.

Tristan got up, angry as he coughed blood. "You fooled me for a minute, and your blast shook my insides."

Then Tristan realized something. "This Tree seems to be as powerful as a peak first evolved and it is an energy creature. I could defeat it to raise my counter for the Energy Body evolution quest. May be I could find 60 or so of these trees here, would be easy then."
