Tang Yan froze when he heard Yan Bing"s words. But soon, he understood.
Although the guy chatting to her was handsome. He wasn"t a hit with her.
So she was dragging him in to be a s.h.i.+eld.
Thinking this Tang Yan was more than happy to play his part and walked over with a smile.
When they saw Tang Yan, the looks on the two guys completely changed.
Tang Yan looked over and suddenly got gooseb.u.mps.
He was expecting that the two would either leave in a despondent manner or challenge his presence.
But that was completely different from what the two did, seeing him they actually looked excited almost like they were gonna cheer.
What was with that look?
"You"re the King of Sports," the handsome guy said, unable to resist his excitement.
As soon as he heard this, Tang Yan understood.
They had recognized him.
King of Sports was his Weibo Username.
Seeing Tang Yan not speaking, one of the guys held his head in his hands with an incredible expression: "Oh, my G.o.d, incredible, I actually met Tang Yan here, oh my G.o.d"
"Can I take a photo with you? My name"s Li Xiao. I"m a huge fan, I follow you on Weibo." The handsome guy said as he stepped forward.
"I"m afraid, not this time." Tang Yan glanced at Yan Bing.
"Oh sorry, I"m really sorry, I thought she was single, I didn"t mean any harm." It could be seen that Li Xiao was a big fan of Tang Yan. He saw Tang Yan"s firm att.i.tude and turned his head to look at Yan Bing pleadingly.
"Okay, I can have a quick photo. But we have to head off right after." Seeing that Yan Bing was about to speak, Tang Yan acquiesced first and took a photo with the two guys.
After which he took Yang Bing"s hand, and headed off directly out.
Li Xiao and friend watched Tang Yan and Yan Bing leave,
"I never knew Tang Yan had a girlfriend, where do you think they are going?" Li Xiao"s friend said.
"They must be keeping it secret, on the down-low. I think he"s trying to get away from us in case a crowd forms or something. But it doesn"t look like they are heading out of town yet." Li Xiao replied.
.....
Tang Yan and Yan Bing traveled through the alleys, they were scenic spots and secluded. The alleys still held an ancient charm. Walking on the blue stone road, it was an indescribably poetic picture.
Tang Yan was walking casually and aimlessly with Yan Bing, for the first time since his rebirth his mind wasn"t in over gear with thoughts and plans.
"After crossing the bridge, Lu Xun"s actual residence is up ahead. Baicao Garden and Sanwei Shuwu are the most famous scenic spots in the residence." Yan Bing said while walking.
"Baicao Garden is full of lush vegetation, green vegetables and white radishes all about."
"Green vegetables and radishes, people actually come to see that. Why not just go to a food market?" Tang Yan said with a smirk.
"Sanwei Shuwu is where Lu Xun studied and it"s actually very well preserved, you can see where he wrote some of his early books." Yan Bing continued, after rolling her eyes at him.
"From the Baicao Garden to the Sanwei Study." Tang Yan added.
"Huh, you know the saying." Yan Bing looked at him in surprise.
The two were halfway across the bridge when Tang Yan stopped and said, "I got given a Lu Xun anthology at the martial arts promotional event I told you about earlier. The Yanxing Munic.i.p.al Government was hosting the event and they gave it to me as a thank you gift."
"An anthology by Lu Xun." Yan Bing asked puzzled.
Tang Yan took the anthology from his shoulder bag and handed it to Yan Bing.
"It doesn"t look like a fake." Yan Bing looked excited at the simple booklet.
[San Xian Ji] - [Xu Guangping -19/09/1932 - Shanghai].
Turning the first page, the smell of the book revealed it"s age and pa.s.sage through history, and the quaint writing showed the value of the book.
"If this is real, then this is one of the anthologies that Lu Xun sent to his wife Xu Guangping." Yan Bing glanced at the words and shouted excitedly, "It looks so genuine, it can"t be a fake right?"
"I didn"t really pay it much mind when they gave it to me. But I doubt they would give me a fake so it"s either the real thing or a replica, a very good one at that." Tang Yan smiled and continued, "Anyway you seem to appreciate it more than me, you can have it if you want. I"m a sports star. What do I need an ancient book for."
"You want to give it to me" Yan Bing looked incredulous.
"Don"t you want it? If you don"t want it, I"ll just p.a.w.n it off later, it"s too delicate for me to carry around anyway." Tang Yan said with a smile.
"No...no you can"t just sell it, especially to a p.a.w.n shop, it"s valuable, it"s a part of history." Yan Bing said stunned.
"If it"s valuable then I can get a couple yuan for it right? For me, there"s no difference between this and ¥60 toilet paper." Tang Yan said with a smile.
"You!"
"Just take it, think of it as a thank you for when you used to buy me candy." Tang Yan said.
If the anthology was taken to an auction house and authenticated and came out genuine, with how famous and rare Lu Xun"s works were in the private sector it would probably be easily worth something in the hundreds of thousands range if it was sold.
But Tang Yan knew he couldn"t really sell the anthology especially if it was real, he had literally just been gifted it by the Yanxing Government. It wouldn"t look right.
So it was either: Keep it and let it acc.u.mulate dust, gift it to a museum or something along those lines or gift it to someone else.
And seeing that Yan Bing liked it, he might as well give it to her.
"Then I will keep it for you." Yan Bing said carefully, placing the anthology package in her bag.
As they set off again, Yan Bing kept looking at her bag from time to time, fearing that it would accidentally fall out.
But that was the thing with life, sometimes actually the more wary and cautious you were, the easier it was to make mistakes and for the very thing you were trying to avoid to occur.
As she walked down the slope of the bridge, Yan Bing looking at her bag and not where she was going misstepped and twisted her ankle accidentally and with a cry of "Ahhh," she reached to support herself using the railings but as she did so the bag slipped off her shoulder.
